Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Yes yes, but it was Hughesy who convinced him to choose us over the likes of City/Pompy who were chasing him at the time. If he doesn't go, terrific, hopefully he and Benni can start up a good partnership because I have a feeling Benni might have his old fire back. If not...we get a big wedge of cash.
bob fleming Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 This is getting very amusing (the long churchillian speeches, not the managerial vacancy) You may well mock simcla but we shall go on to the end. We shall never surrender.
brfc_jonesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Yes yes, but it was Hughesy who convinced him to choose us over the likes of City/Pompy who were chasing him at the time. If he doesn't go, terrific, hopefully he and Benni can start up a good partnership because I have a feeling Benni might have his old fire back. If not...we get a big wedge of cash. i share your feeling about benni, he's going to need/want to impress whoever comes in!
hawkiiz Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 i believe that a) santa leaves and benni+derbs become a super-duo with benni back where he was. (if he still have the same hunger. he wanted to impress the first season, but could not go, so he had a "bad" second season santa stays and all is well. im thinking more about bentley than santa, but the window doesnt open until 1st of july, so we probably have a manager by then, who will look to keep his best players.
iamarover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Yeah, what he said But soft, what light from yonder window breaks. Tis the East. And our new manager is the sun. Apologies to Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet We Are The Rovers
simcla Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I like this one better - What could you hope to achieve except to be sunk in a bigger and more expensive ship this time Sir Winston Churchill to Admiral Mountbatten
den Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Like a boat breaking up among the waves Sails on through a thousand obstacles Sometimes you are down, sometimes you are up Further on, always, towards the horizon You may be a little tired And your smile has gone But through your shining tears You give birth to hope Who else but you could Rise up from the dust On a long, single-minded journey Seeking a vision of tomorrow So, onwards, onwards, onwards...BRFC
Lathund Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Explain why that is a daft comment. Some sites can disable things - like the official site wont allow you to right click on images. Some functions can be disabled - i simply asked if this site has that functionality. I'm no SQL techie, but surely to fully disable refresh you'd have to disable the ability for anyone to load the site at all. Which would defeat the whole purpose of a website.
simcla Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 This is getting very surreal, and nothing to do with the mysterious candidate 'B'
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I know his name has been mentioned earlier in this thread but having just watched SSN just now, David Ginola mentioned that he's considering management and the fact that Nicko described Candidate B as a 'Sexy' foreigner and having already played in the Premier League has made me wonder if he's the guy linked. I'm probably just putting 1 + 1 together and getting 5 but IF this is true, please tell me it's an April fools.
brfcmad1979 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 This is getting very surreal, and nothing to do with the mysterious candidate 'B' i must admit i am beginning to thinksomeone spiked my coffee!
Hughesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Couldnt tell you mate. I write SQL scripts for reports/ systems, not website development. Anyway stop going on about SQL. Back on topic eh! It was a suggestion, maybe it doesnt work - who cares! I'm no SQL techie, but surely to fully disable refresh you'd have to disable the ability for anyone to load the site at all. Which would defeat the whole purpose of a website.
hawkiiz Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I'm probably just putting 1 + 1 together and getting 5 but IF this is true, please tell me it's an April fools. HAHAHAHA!!! thats great! i dont think ginola is the guy. much much rather have ince/fat sammy or even berg above ginola
iamarover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I like this one better - What could you hope to achieve except to be sunk in a bigger and more expensive ship this time Sir Winston Churchill to Admiral Mountbatten Nice one. Prophetic for the Hughester we hope. Well not literally. Mountbatten was eventually sunk by the IRA at the time of Warrenpoint in his fishing boat. I trust our newly adopted Hatred For Hughes doesnt stretch to blowing his bonce off? Just thought I'd check.

(sorry fans, in the absence of Nicko we are talking literature amongst ourselves. Normal bonkers service will be resumed shortly). Thanks for this Den.... forgive my ignorance. Who is the poet?
PAFELL Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 i must admit i am beginning to thinksomeone spiked my coffee! Could candidate B be Manchni?
Hughesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Who would Ince bring in? Is he into the whole sports science stuff?? Who would Shearer have as a back room team?
bob fleming Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Who is the poet? Alan75 if I'm not mistaken. Who would Shearer have as a back room team? Wordsworth, (Ron) Yeats, Newell and Manseeni
iamarover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Where is Nicko? Am in dire need of my B movie horror nightly cliffhanger. Dont tell me he is 1. Doing his job 2. Speaking to his wife This is a disaster. Surely the outcome of Nicko's thread is he loses both of the above due to an abnormal obsession with an off kilter MB specialising in rubbish poetry, mental rantings and fantasy footy theories? Nicko. Don/t be normal. Come back to the land of the mad. We miss you. you know it makes sense
simcla Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I think the quote was a quite a bit before the bombing, and I was thinking more along the lines of the bigger ship being Man City! I agree with iamrover, nicko doesn't post for a short time and the thread degenerates into something out of apocalypse now.
Hughesy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Disagree and I think you should too. Santa will not go for £13m and bentley for £10m - IF they go it will be for much more. Emre gone for £8m, Milner up for sale for around £8m too. Yet Bentley goes for only £2m more despite all his media attention?? Yeah ok! Bents will go for £15m Minimum. Crouch is up for £10m, Yet Santa is only worth £3m more? and only £2m more than City reportedly offered in January?? 26 year old, admirers include United and Arsenal. 20+ goals in his first season, continental pedigree and very well known in europe. He is easily worth £20m now. If they both get sold then that is at least £35m to us - Santa cant go for less than £20m if we are being serious. Bentley minimum £15m. Dont worry Santa wont go, Bentley will Hughesey. Honestly. Please. Wake up. Whatever you think; Your figures, in reality, two thirds of. Max. Stop with the madness. It's embarrassing.
iamarover Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I think the quote was a quite a bit before the bombing, and I was thinking more along the lines of the bigger ship being Man City! Yes of course. About two generations before..but worryingly apposite. Big ship big ######. Both always go down.
stuwilky Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 £35m for both of em. Id laugh, a lot. It wont happen Hughesy, sadly.
