tony gale's mic Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 And who else interested in the Rovers job has been in two Champions League finals in the past three seasons? Help me here, I'm struggling. Like I said I'm not against him coming, but look how much success Brian Kidd had as assistant at United. Would definitely prefer him to most of the candidates but I have a bit of a soft spot for Laudrup - young, hungry, has been managing in a top league with a similar sized club, has a reputation for playing attractive football etc etc...

cn_barlow Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 This guy has to be the No 1 candidate. He CV is head and shoulders above the others. For all those saying shearer could attract big names....waht about this guy!! Im all for it, i just hope JW gets his finger out and we dont lose out to Panathanikos! Henk Ten Cate's Blue n White Army! (HIS NAME FITS THE SONG!! ITS DESTINY!)
brfcmad1979 Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I wouldn,t mind boxing Ben coming if only to give Mccarthy a good kick up the backside, Laudrup also would be excellant but the one i'd choose if he was an option is Bilic I think there is just something about him.

Henk Ten Cate's Blue n White Army! (HIS NAME FITS THE SONG!! ITS DESTINY!) Agreed. I know we may all be getting ourselves excited off of a small tip from Nicko, but at this moment in time we should really be pulling out all of the stops to get this guy. He ticks all of the boxes, literally all of them. If he is interested then there should be no reason why we shouldn't get him. If we choose instead to go for Ince or Shearer I wouldn't be too happy. It's all well and good saying that we need to take our time, but I feel that the longer we take the weaker we will look and the more some of our players may want to leave. If he's not interested then we can move on, but serious talks need to be had within the next couple of days.

I like Laudrup a lot too, but Ten Cate has worked here and been around. Laudrup has done well briefly at a couple of clubs. I wouldn't mind either, but I like the idea of a Dutch Stan the Man. ...with medals obviously!
Eddie Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 How much contact exactly has there been? There must have been some if he has expressed an interest, but was it just a simple feeler?
cn_barlow Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Have we shown any interest in Bilic Nicko? I would be absolutely over the moon if we ended up with Ten Cate, Bilic or Laudrup - in that order of preference.

Eddie Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 ten cate no thanks Can't argue with that. Let's start a chant. "EX PLAYER EX PLAYER EX PLAYER" (insert name for whichever vastly unqualified person the majority would like to fill the role).
nicko Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Off on a tangent here...could our Norwegian chums tell me a bit more about Olivier Occean? Is he any good? What level could he play in England? Are Lillestrom still playing?
Manc Rover Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Agreed. If he's not interested then we can move on, but serious talks need to be had within the next couple of days. That would be a real coup if we got Henk. Just think of his scouting network and his knowledge of top players from the likes of Holland. Shearer would be the emotional choice but this guy would be solid!
EwoodGlory Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 8 out of 10 cats is one of my fav' programs. It's a sign
Eddie Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Out of interest, could someone tell me Ten Cate's odds on VC bet?
herbergeehh Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Off on a tangent here...could our Norwegian chums tell me a bit more about Olivier Occean? Is he any good? What level could he play in England? Are Lillestrom still playing? May I ask why? Occean is a half-decent striker. Big strong guy, reasonable pace for his size, unspectacular though. Lillestrøm has been awful all season, and recently sacked their manager - last night they managed to lose 1-0 to Eidsvold/Turn, who I believe is in the 2nd division. I wouldn't want to buy Occean to any Championship sides, but given his physical nature he could probably just make it in that league.
nicko Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 By the way, thanks for taking my advice on NOT betting ...just checked Betfair. SSN will be on it within the hour and every other outlet on the planet. Stroke Boy is already twitching and looking for someone to punch.

"EX PLAYER EX PLAYER EX PLAYER" (insert name for whichever vastly unqualified person the majority would like to fill the role). i would not be happy with a MANAGER who is prepared to play 2nd fiddle to avram grant,a guy obviously more intrested in money than football

I've heard he's good when the going gets tough!
alexanders Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I'm just happy to give you a helping hand back here Nicko. Olivier Occean is a rock-solid striker, but he lacks the goals. I think he reminds me a lot about Jason Roberts, but he is a lot better in the air than JR. Considering other Norwegian players in the english league system I think he may be able to play for a struggling championship side. Lillestrøm is still playing, but they are really struggling this year. Yesterday they got knocked out of the norwegian cup by a side from League Two. Lillestrom is playing my side, Aalesund, this Sunday at 17.00
sylar Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Off on a tangent here...could our Norwegian chums tell me a bit more about Olivier Occean? Is he any good? What level could he play in England? Are Lillestrom still playing? Championship player at most, think he is overrated, definitly not premier league materiale... Lillestrøm are still playing, but they are having a very bad start to the season, currently on a qualifying place and just lost i the Norwegian cup to a side from a lower division. is there any clubs interrest in Occean?
nicko Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Lillestrom is playing my side, Aalesund, this Sunday at 17.00 Magic, let me know how he does.
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Net down all day yesterday Was Ten Cate the "sexy name" then that Nicko mentioned?
herbergeehh Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Magic, let me know how he does. Magic? Lillestrøm - Aalesund? Not really.
