rovers1993 Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Have an area for this thread which has a requirement of say, 30 days membership to view. People who don't post often but are real supporters and not Stroke Boy can see things. good idea but i think its unfair on new rovers supporter who wants to join in... for now we'll just have to accept the non usual posters posting because of these news going around abt the management etc. just make do for now, it'll die down once a manager is hired and the window is closed.
nicko Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 At the end of the day surely SSN and the LET have to look at a number of sources and if fan sites are one of those then so be it. The information you are posting is being put in the public domain for all to read, don't be so surprised that it finds its way into other arenas. It's just the speed that it leaves here...but a lesson or two have been learned this week. I won't let on about the three major Rovers stories in the Sunday People then...
nicko Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 whats to stop nicko saying strachan has the job,you all back him and he lays him easy money Well, nicko did say Strachan was a non-runner, didn't he? Keep up.

BR007 Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Any truth in the story that Kia and West ham have got back into bed together?
vizcaya Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Problem with that isthat people will post pointlessposts just to get their activity levels up sadly disagree i dont post much but ive read most of the thread better idea needed Good points. Can't think of anything better, apart from putting the thread in the "I can't believe it's not football" section, and naming it "Tribute to the mighty orange" or something... It will not solve any problems, but it will make it harder to find.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 It should die down once the speculation over the future manager is resolved. The majority of the media will go back to ignoring us.
Mozzer Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 why are barcelona getting rid of hot prospect dos santos for less then 5million? i would of thought clubs like man utd and chelsea would be after him.
bob fleming Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 strachan has the job,you all back him Strachan you say Wags?! It was only a matter of time. I'll nip down to Ladbrokes in a minute and stick £30 on him.
Eddie Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 30? I've put 1000 on and gone and bought a car on the back of my future winnings...
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Surprised Dos Santos has gone to Spurs and not a bigger club, and for £5 million as well. Wasn't he being touted as one of the next big things in world football? It sounds a bit dodgy. Does he have some long term injury concerns? or a serious attitude problem? Can't believe no one else wanted him
the original david brent Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 If we get Shearer then it will be a HUGHE let down!! Could anyone care to make a 50x50 metre banner saying "STAY AWAY SHEARER" and lay it on the hill behind Ewood Park? err... probably not. You talk as though you speak on behalf of all rovers fans. Most rovers fans I know have shearer as their first choice (work, friends, family etc) for right or wrong reasons. He was by far and away the most popular in the poll by lancs evening telgraph. There is a facebook group "shearer for rovers manager" in which approaching a 1000 rovers fans have signed up to in the last 2 days. I appreciate this will mean nothing to some on here, perhaps a trivial point even, but I make the point to show the level of support for shearer. The only place I have encountered anti-shearer views are on this message board. Get shearer in, get the town buzzing again.
bringdunnback Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I won't let on about the three major Rovers stories in the Sunday People then... Oh dont do that nicko, at least tell us on Saturday evening
Manchester Blue Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Surely it is possible to have a thread members only and have a 4 day turnaorund for processing new member applications. I know other sites do it and this would be perfect for stopping anyone signging up purely to gain information for profit.
gumboots Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 err... probably not. You talk as though you speak on behalf of all rovers fans. Most rovers fans I know have shearer as their first choice (work, friends, family etc) for right or wrong reasons. He was by far and away the most popular in the poll by lancs evening telgraph. The only place I have encountered anti-shearer views are on this message board. Get shearer in, get the town buzzing again. Get the town buzzing but the fans? I don't know. i never saw shearer at rovers. He wasn't my hero. My husband and kids used to come in shouting his name but I can't remember seeing him even on tv as i was too busy with looking after kids (I have 4) to bother. So Shearer means nothing to me emotionally and therefore all I'm looking at is, is it a gamble (and it's a pretty big one) worth taking? I'm not sure. Legends should never bring themselves down to the level of mere mortals again and coming back to rovers with the potential for failure would be doing just that. Why not leave him on his plinth where you can bow down and worship and leave the running of the team to someone who really wants the job and knows how to do it.
Grabbi Graeme Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 SSN still not caught on with the Ten Cate story, they are pushing the same names although it seems Ince going to Leicester unless he's waiting for Rovers to make contact, they have also mentioned Henning Berg as a possible choice
SuperStella Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Any manager we take on is a gamble, apart from maybe Alex Ferguson! Shearer has a history with the club - he will have the backing of the fans immediately. The fact he accepted the job, has done his coaching badges and has shown his determination to manage surely shows he wants the job?

McClaren right for Rovers - McKay Don McKay did well for us but i completely disagree with what he says in this article about McClaren and Shearer. I think Ten Cate would be an excellent manager and I know Shearer has no experience, and I am probably speaking with the heart and not the head but I think it would be fantastic if he was the manager. I feel a buzz of excitement every time I see his name mentioned. Everyone I have spoken to want Shearer as manager but I just think it will be to good to be true.
krislu Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Most rovers fans I know have shearer as their first choice (work, friends, family etc) ....Get shearer in, get the town buzzing again. Thats because they aint using their brain. Yes, he was a fantastic player and is still a hero at Blackburn, but a manager he is most certainly not! The town might be "buzzing" but the team will struggle in a relegation scrap...
gumboots Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I accept choosing a manager is always a gamble but I just don't know if the Shearer one is too much about hearts and not enough about heads.
SuperStella Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I've got visions of McLaren stood on the touchline, when its pouring down with his new blue and white umberella from the reformed Rovers shop........

He turns single names into plurals...we don't need to listen to him.
nicko Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 why are barcelona getting rid of hot prospect dos santos for less then 5million? i would of thought clubs like man utd and chelsea would be after him. Dos Santos would not sign a long-term contract, so he would have gone for a small fee in a year or so. The Spurs money is about £5 million up front plus extras. Agood bit of business if it pays off. I've said it before but they are starting to look good to me.
