[Archived] Nicko's Thread Part 3

Recommended Posts

I have got to say Nicko has breathed new life into this MB, i have only been a member and poster on here since 2003 and i stopped posting around early 2007 as i were getting fed up with the Vinjays etc on the site, but Nicko has come here, not a Rover himself and started a great thread. His threads spark up excellent debate among the regulars on here and his insight makes it a lot more interesting that the my friends friend was walking the dog and saw Ronaldinho down Nuttal Street etc. :P

Even transfer rumours are again fun because of Nicko, for last few months, iv looked forward to logging on first thing in the morning to see who Nicko has heard we could be going for or what could be going on regarding a take-over. We now know more than what we just would from watching SSN as i think Nicko has proved over the last week, cannot really be believed. I'd like to thank Nicko for posting the little bits of info he can post because surely the man is jeopodising his scoops in certain cases by posting them to us first. I know i greatly appreciate reading his comments, so thanks Nicko. I might even buy the Sunday People tommorrow as a thanks :P

I agree, Nicko inserts excitement to the forum!

The interesting thing is that Nicko has given us a bunch of rumors that haven't come true. That doesn't mean the players or managers weren't under consideration, it just means that they didn't end up being signed/hired.

When other posters give rumors, how do we know they weren't correct at the time?

I enjoy the thread, even if all of the rumors don't end up happening, but I don't think I've met another poster more childish in their responses when challenged (except maybe Drog). Ooohhh, R6 isn't a journo. I guess that makes you so much better and him not able to have an opinion, I forgot that journalists are the top of the world and never do any wrong.

Whats the latest on the manager front? I saw Candidate A & B, but havn't been on since and the thread moves at about 30 pages per day

So are Shearer & Ten Cate the only ones known to be in for the job?

I had a meeting at Hull City yesterday about a possible work placement, talking through some of my ideas... shame they don't do work placements though... but they liked my ideas so they said they'll try sort out 3 or 4 days placement and see how it goes! :)

...it was really interesting seeing how a club is run from the inside... it's crazy some of the things fans think are quite simply done, yet are far from it. saw things in a different perspective.

and to lighten the mood a little.... Euro 2008 draw at the pub last night....

I got Romania

Just when you thought we'd got rid of AESF, some idiot does that. No doubt he'll be back imminently to give us his view on this despicable monster.

Those pieces are so utterly predictable. The Daily Heil style of writing, will undoubtely include 1-2 pictures, a couple of links to old articles that you know he'd been dying to get a chance to post, and then some selected quote that illustrates some of society's ills.

I'm not strongly in favour of any of the candidates mentioned, although I did vote for Shearer.

I'm sure the Board won't let Shearer's pulling power, in terms of crowds and players, and media attention, be the only criteria for appointing him, good as those reasons are for the Rovers. He'll need to demonstrate that he can put an experienced back room team together, and that he has the ability to manage in the premiership. These guys ain't daft.

Nope. He liked them all apart from 1. He said a lot though are types of ideas the club would be looking at wanting to use if in 3 or 4 years time they're more established in the Prem.

there was a few of my ideas they said they'd like to use... varied stuff from cutting down queues on the concourses at halftime to ideas for animations and videos for the "big screen" inside the stadium.

The reason they don't do work placements is because there is soo much money involved, because I'm not experienced it's too much of a risk. Though they said from what they've seen, they know I could do the work... that's why they offered 3 or 4 days placement to see how I'd do.

Nicko,

Is Bilic even in the frame at all? He's really the only candidate who I can give an unequivocal 'yes' to, I can find major faults in all the others that puts me off.

I'll be terribly disappointed if we're not after Bilic, even if it means waiting until after the Euros.

You have probably seen this by now Nicko

http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...3661736,00.html

The man arrested by police investigating a motorway crash that killed two boys is Plymouth goalkeeper Luke McCormick, according to Press Association sources.

The driver of a Range Rover was held by police after the boys, aged eight and 10, were fatally injured in a collision on the M6 in north Staffordshire this morning.

In a statement, Plymouth said: "The club is aware of an incident involving one of our players that occurred on Saturday morning on the M6.

"As the incident is subject to police enquiries, the club feels it would be inappropriate to make any comment at this stage."

Staffordshire Police would not identify the man held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but sources have told the Press Association that he is McCormick.

The 24-year-old from Coventry is a former England youth international and was twice voted the club's young player of the season, according to Plymouth Argyle's website.

Nicko in your opinion would you want someone young like Bilic, Shearer who has no experience of the league but could be a gem or someone like McClaren, BFS and to an extent Ten Cate of knowing the premier league?

Mike Rigg is he out at Euro 2008 or is he at Rovers until he knows who the manager is etc?

And Nicko keep up the good work and ignore the mindless idiot, the rest of BRFC supporters are grateful for the information you pass on to us.

Also utterly predictable are the infantile responses from people like yourself who nevertheless always read AESF's posts . There is an alternative you know......

If someone posts something on a public forum then we all reserve a right to reply. I don't think that's particularly infantile at all.

I don't read them actually. I stopped reading them after realizing that they were all the same, and contained very little. On occasion I'll read one to see if that has changed, but normally I scroll right past them.

Peoples emotions are getting the better of them on here.u either enjoy Nicko's post,or u dont.its strange how easily gullible certain people are, when they hear a rumour.when that rumour doesnt materialise, they turn around and start criticising.i dnt know the guy personaly, but Nicko has been nothing short of wonderful.he makes things exciting,so u either ignore the man or take what he says with a pinch of salt.he is human,he cant be right all the time.

All well and good then .

So there should be no need to debate about the content of someone's posts (that you don't read  ) .......... on a thread which has had no reference to him anyway .
