RevidgeBlue Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Would you want to buy a company that just employed someone who brings 32 backroom staff with them... I said cryptic not bleedin' obvious!

Ozz Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Found it about halfway down. "You're heading for a fall, Hughes" Bob-that has made my day-"Blackburn Rovers — a club that has consistently outperformed Manchester City since the inception of the Premier League."..."A club that has won it, no less. A proper football club, built on the foundations laid by a true fan." Th truth is out there.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Has the truth finally reached the press hacks?
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Nicko do u think it would be wise on JW's part,to appoint a new manager before a take over deal is concluded.i just fear that if Ronnie takes over, then he might just want his own man in charge, which could ultimately be the wrong man for Rovers. I'm sure the chairman will go ahead with the process - regardless of whether an exclusivity period has begun. It's the only sensible thing to do. Bring in the right boss and the club's 'value' might increase. Bring in the wrong one and you could be stuck with it. But remember, we are talking about Trustees who want to sell but also want as much back as possible - so they will be thinking hard about this appointment too. It's a vital time for them. The whole thing is quite interesting.

bonerdude Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Nicko, would you have any idea who chris ronnie and his team would prefer as new blackburn manager? has chris ronnie even talked to john williams yet? and do you think chris ronnie would keep williams on as chairman
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Nicko, would you have any idea who chris ronnie and his team would prefer as new blackburn manager? has chris ronnie even talked to john williams yet? and do you think chris ronnie would keep williams on as chairman No idea who they would want. Know someone they don't want. You would need to talk to all of the candidates - as Rovers plan to do - before you made that decision. Ronnie is dealing with Rothschilds, the people looking for buyers. Incidentally they were also the 'agents' when Ronnie bought JJB. No idea on the chairman's future. I don't see why there should be a problem, but you never know how things work out.
tony gale's mic Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 So it would be ridiculous to appoint a guy with only National Team Management experience as its so different to the day to day life of a Premiership manager? Mark Hughes? That isn't what I said at all. It would be ridiculous to appoint a guy with absolutely no level of experience at coaching or management to the day-to-day life of a Premiership manager. I mentioned Hughes, Klinsmann etc as they had gone from playing to national team management and then gone into club management, a much better way of doing it as there's many components of league management that arent there in national team management so it "eased" them in slightly (although it was still going in at the deep end somewhat, especially in Klinsmann's case).
thenodrog Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 My thoughts on the Shearer option is that his interest may wane as details of his transfer budget are revealed to him. Me too. He'd never want to be outbid for players by Roy Keane would he?
thenodrog Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I said 'might' - I was thinking of one candidate in particular whose appointment would stop their interest. Make that two...... at least. The 'American in Paris' look-alike would surely send em running for cover.
novella Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 if shearer became manager wouldnt we have to wait till after the euros because hes there with the match of the day team?
philipl Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 if shearer became manager wouldnt we have to wait till after the euros because hes there with the match of the day team? It depends on whether the BBC get knocked out early or not.

bats Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 So Nicko which managers do you think will be on tommorrows shortlist?
thenodrog Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 if shearer became manager wouldnt we have to wait till after the euros because hes there with the match of the day team? I guess thats that then. Oh well never mind. Move on..... and stop that stupid poll.
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Make that two...... at least. The 'American in Paris' look-alike would surely send em running for cover. Both before my time and over my head...
WaffleWag Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Any chanse of Henk Ten Cate being the brain for Shearer?
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 So Nicko which managers do you think will be on tommorrows shortlist? Shearer, Ten Cate, Allardyce, Ince, McClaren. Laudrup - maybe, should be. Not sure if there any more, but glad to stand corrected.
Shevchenko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Who ever comes in will have to be strong and have the respect of the dressing room - heck there is already signs of discontent there. ie Warnock. What's the story here?
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Any chanse of Henk Ten Cate being the brain for Shearer? Fantastic idea, but I think Shearer would have his own team in mind which is understandable. Ten Cate would probably prefer to be Panathinaikos number one than Rovers number two.
thenodrog Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Both before my time and over my head... Well done ....... 'over my head' as in umbrella.

So why bother with Shearer and especially at a remuneration that would be tantamount to a Kings ransom?
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Well done ....... 'over my head' as in umbrella. Still struggling. Gene Kelly? Henk Ten Cate? I don't remember drinking THAT much last night.
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Eh? 'Fantastic idea'? So why bother with Shearer and especially at a remuneration that would be tantamount to a Kings ransom? Fantastic idea, but won't happen. And money should be no object - you just trousered the best part of £5 million for your previous boss and his team.
DanLad Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 you just trousered the best part of £5 million for your previous boss and his team. Aren't we getting the compensation over 3 years?
