Nicko, you may have mentioned this already, but from what you know, does Shearer have a good standing in the game? Like Hughes, would you say he has respect from a lot people?

Would you say he has the same burning desire/passion as Hughes?

In addition, who do you think he would get in for his back room staff - Flowers for Goalkeeping coach, Faz, Peter Taylor maybe as an assistant or head coach.

I cant see why what the bookies say would have any bearing who is gonna get the job,

if so please explain,

Cheers B)

Betfair is based on what people bet, so if his price has come down it's because people are putting money on. I don't know the volume - can never work that bit out - but somebody is backing it. Their only motive...they think he has a chance of taking the job. Possible some of his chums are aware that he is a very 'live' candidate at the moment.

Before you ask, I STILL wouldn't put a penny on that market.

Shearer has a public image as a dour sort of guy, but those who have worked with him speak highly of his humour and common sense. He is very single-ninded to the point of being selfish, but you have to be at that level.

I don't doubt his hunger or passion, but the good thing here is that you will find out how hungry he is when it comes to the crunch. Does he want to give up the easy life at the Beeb for a real job.

Motor-mouth Andy Gray had the chance at Everton a decade ago and bottled it. He went down in my estimation when he did that. Talk the talk, but can't walk the walk.

I think Shearer has more about him than that - but we shall see.

Backroom staff? Tommy Craig is very likely, he got him on the SFA course and helped him get through quickly. Mike Newell seems a likely ally although not certain. I have heard Bobby Mimms might be coming back - but that might not be related to beinbg part of the Shearer team. Faz? Possible. Taylor - no.

I noticed that the quartet who moved to Citeh included Kevin Hitchcock but they left Glynn Hodges at Brockhall.

So we have no goal keeper coach and the senior football staff are currently Hodges and Downes.

How ironic - just turned Sky Sports 1 on and its Prem League Years 1994-1995 and the great man is banging them in!

Yes but watch it again in a few days and he'll be in Black and White. <_<

Nicko-

Despite the fact that 2 of the 3 supposed leading candidates are free and available at this moment, Chelsea don't appear close to appointing anyone. Also Scolari is now a clear favourite.

What could this mean??

Ten Cate has NOT signed for Panathiaikos...please.

He has gone on holiday to Barbados, he will come back and talk to Rovers if they want to.

If not, he probably goes to Panathinaikos.

Nicko, did you not say sometime ago that this man Cook (forgot his first name) at Man City was a close friend of Chris Ronnie (correct me if I am wrong) I ask because of the possiblity of Chris Ronnie buying Rovers.

If this is the case, could this mean that Chris Ronnie did not want Mark Hughes at Rovers - and it appears that since Hughes's departure the takeover talk has increased - therefore encouraged Cook to take Hughes to man City.

What about Tony Parkes yet again in the backroom staff!!!!!!!!

Not saying it's what I'd like, but the following backroom staff would at least be very much a Rovers staff. Shearer, Newell, Faz, Flowers and Tony Parkes. Maybe a role can be found for Colin Hendry as well ;)

Rijkaard wants a break, Mancini has been overlooked.

Ancelotti is currently Kenyon's latest project, but we saw last week that he struggles to deliver. He told a couple of Premier League chairmen that he would have a boss by last Friday! Get him another runners-up medal.

Scolari just sits there and watches his personal demands increase by the day.

It is now officially a farce.

Chris Ronnie wanted Hughes to stay and be a director.

The only reason the takeover talk has increased is because they have crept slowly further down the line.
