Iceman Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Wags shearer was the man, henk ten cate, for me should be the new MAN!End of.
Exiled in Toronto Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 get used to it SHEARER is the man I'm beginning to. Firstly, because it's looking like I might have to, and secondly because Nicko's article answered one of my question marks which was the make-up of his backroom team. I wouldn't say Newell and Craig fill me with joy, but then neither did Bowen et al. But at least there are names in the frame. There's no doubt we need some excitement around the place and I think we'd get it, one way or the other, with Shearer. By coincidence, this morning on 'EPL Retro' I watched our epic 4-3 loss to Chelsea in 1998 and, even despite the presence of a few dodgy players in our team, I enjoyed watching Flitty/Sherwood in midfield, Jase on the left and Sutton upfront. We were much more fluid and attacking than has been the case for most of this season, and that was a team on its uppers. I'm thrilled by the make-up of the shortlist and eagerly looking forwards to a new, more attacking era, even if we finish 12th rather than 7th.
OJRovers Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 nicko- do you think we'll give the 4/5m compensation from Hughes going to the new manager to spend? How much does that mean we have? 14/15m??
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 £5.5m compo according to Bowen. Therefore if we took the likes of Shearer, Newell and Craig then we wont have to pay out any compo. £5m more towards our kitty hopefully! So hopefully £15m + the likely sale of Bentley
Mc Love Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Nicko i assume you can sense, that im stil disappointed by hughes departure, more so because he went to City of all teams.but iceman u wil get over it,when rovers announce houllier as coach.aint that right nicko lol Icers calm the fook down will you And when did you start talking about iceman in third person..L
T4E Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 And there was a reference to him; T4E mentioned him. So blame him Thats OK, I'll wear it. I still think he's a tool. Big shearer development......oh crap! If he is ass man to ten cate, then it may be good Whatever floats your boat buddy
Bobby G Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Nicko if you were doubting sky about Big Sam, doubt no longer. He is heading the expert analysis on Jazeera Sports Euro 2008 coverage from a studio in England. Ive been watching him, Trevor Francis and host Richard Keys...They "say" theyre in Doha, Qatar but Im sure theyre in England!
Mc Love Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Thats OK, I'll wear it. I still think he's a tool. Whatever floats your boat buddy never played FM? Ass man = assistant manager.
B.R.F.C Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 From what I can see we have a vastly experienced candidate who is chomping at the bit to be our new manager. A manager who not only is a good coach but clearly has experience across Europe that would prove vital to our transfer investment along with possibly keeping some of our current squad. Henk Ten Cate for Rovers

Henk Ten Cate for Rovers Seconded.
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Id be happy with any of: Henk Ten Cate Advocaat Houllier Laudrup (Without clauses) Shearer (With assurances he wont jump ship to Geordie land in 2 or 3 years)

Henk Ten Cate for Rovers Should we start a petition? I will be very, very disappointed if it is anyone other than this man
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I think there should be a poll on here - exactly the same as the Shearer poll. Said this a few days ago.
Mc Love Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Should we start a petition? I will be very, very disappointed if it is anyone other than this man As will i be, put a tenner on him at 14/1 But he seems to be the perfect fit and according to the messiah, he is interested in the job
Eddie Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Shearer (With assurances he wont jump ship to Geordie land in 2 or 3 years) There's no way we can possibly get that.
Mc Love Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I think if Shearer does take the rovers job, it will be a very tough job and i dont think he would be the best to keep us in the top ten. fair enough were we like when Hughes took over languishing in the bottom half every season. The fact remains we are a top ten team and deserve a manager that has good credentials and possibly the ability to keep us there.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 He has pedigree, experience at the very top, a tough mentality and above all, actually WANTS to be here. I can't see why we are not pulling out all the stops for this guy.
Mc Love Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 He has pedigree, experience at the very top, a tough mentality and above all, actually WANTS to be here. I can't see why we are not pulling out all the stops for this guy. You talking about shearer now? or ten Cate?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I don't think Shearer has experience at the very top (aka Chelsea and Barca), do you?
T4E Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 never played FM? Ass man = assistant manager. Ohhhhhhhhh I see. I didn't get that AT ALL. Thanks for clarifying
nicko Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Yer man Kenny Miller's move is stalling because he wants a pay off from Derby - he will be on LESS money at the Castle than he was on at Pride Park. So he wangts a wedge to go. You coouldn't make it up.
Mc Love Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 You are most welcome T4E And well it was under my post Aunty Dingle so i thought you might have been talking about Shearer. But he has played in the top league with a very "big" club
