I think the four who will be interviewed are...Shearer, Allardyce, Ince and Martinez. NOT McClaren I understand.

I think the standby two are Ten Cate and possibly Laudrup, who may be out of range for talks just now.

Been round every Manchester airport hotel and had no sightings, but found out that:

Shearer will speak at some stage soon.

Allardyce is abroad but deffo coming back.

Ince has to give Leicester an answer or lose it

Martinez - under contract - may well have a secret meeting.

I DO think there are different views on the board, but that is probably healthy and part of an interview process.

Jesus ###### christing nora!!

What a pretty shocking list.

cuts out the swearing on here dont it, if that short list is correct aswell, then i for one aint best pleased

I agree

Can't believe that (if that list is true) Ten Cate isn't one of those on it. He has publically come out saying he's really interested in the job and his CV is impressive.

I can just see us ending up with Fat Sam, what a joke

He swore...

Anyway if that is the list of candidates I have to say I'm incredibly underwhelmed. Ten Cate and Laudrup on a standby list behind Ince and Allardyce? What on earth

oh rite cheers!

preferably i'd want either:

1. Laudrup or Ten Cate

2. Shearer

3. the rest would be a slight dissapointment in my eyes, but hey il give them my support!!

any chance you could say who sparky's targets were nicko while he wer still at ewood, that's if you knew!

Zalayeta at Espanyol was one.

The one I didn't mention was Makoun at Lille, very competitive midfielder.

Both are quite expensive, which is why I thought there was going to be a Sparky splash...we will never know now of course.

Sweet mother of Jesus.

A one-in-four chance of not being someone awful.

Allardyce is going to be our next manager isn't he. I think I'm going to cry. :(

I think the managerial list - if it's deadly accurate - is pretty good. Still getting my head around Martinez, but maybe it's inspired.

My concern is that there may yet be financial restraints that will put some off. But that is something we will only find out in time.

****Aaaron Spear is set to sign for Newcastle, by the way, for the poster who asked. Sunday People readers already knew that one... ;)

Oh dear. Shearer, Allardyce, Ince and Martinez allegedly for interview?

Standby possibly Ten Cate and Laudrup?

Oh dear.

.........................................................................................

It's going to be a long week.

Glad to see the tradition alive and well. I used to work with the guy who patrolled Dublin Airport back in the day.

If Nicko's shortlist is accurate, it's interesting that the guy who the FA didn't fancy for the England job (BFS), beats the man they did choose (McClaren).

Not quite sure what that tells us, though...

I don't know enough about Martinez to have an opinion, but, if the board think him worth a punt, he must have impressed the Premiership's insiders over the last year or so.

Ince, still a gamble.

Allardyce, must be seen as the 'safe pair of hands', plus he obviously wants it, so we may end up with him as the banker if our first, second & third choices don't work out.

That leaves Shearer. Oh well. Still can't decide.

Nicko what exactly is the score with this standby business? Will they be interviewed eventually or are they just backups in case theyre not satisfied with the other candidates?

I think those who can be spoken to by the end of the week WILL be spoken to.

Then there will be a decision on whether to spread the net.

It's quite tough to see everyone you want when you want.

I seriously would lose a lot of confidence JW and co if theyre putting ten cate and Laudrup on standby.

I know it can be hard to get who you want, when you want, but delay the decision by a week or so, surely it can't be hard to get hold of two European based managers if they want the job?!

I would be very unhappy with any of these two.

If we're interviewing Martinez why aren't we enquiring about Gary Johnson?

I would of thought that if they wanted the job, then wouldn't rovers say the time and place to speak to them? instead of when they are free? Im so ###### off right now about that shortlist, i think i might go to bed! haha

Well by all accounts ten Cate does want the job.

I think its got something to do with the other two not being based in the UK...but who cares?! Fly a few extra miles this is the future of the club we've got on our hands.

This is unbelievable.
