Talk about over reactions

lets just wait and see until we hear the "Official" Rovers statements, not react to overhyped media speculation.

It wont do you any good.

Noone knows if there is a 6 man list and NOONE knows who is on it.

I dont think for one minute the board are looking at a cheap option, there is no need. JW HIMSELF said it will be someone who can progress the club as it is firmly established.

In respect of the names mentioned, I honestly believe that Berg will be spoken to as will McClaren. Fat Sam will also be spoken to as will I imagine the likes of Ince, Shearer. I do NOT believe that if a person such as HTC applies that he would be ignored simply due to his personal experience(s). Likewise Dick Advocaat, if HE has voiced his interest he will be spoken to.

Fear not you Rovers fans, I simply refuse to accept that Rovers Board have made a decision without first seeing what the potential candidates have to offer. If I remember rightly, a person applies for the job, there is a paper sift of the candidates, interviews are offered and conducted, board reconvenes to discuss the interviewees and make a decision then the job is offered.

Now forgive me Ladies and Gents but its only Tuesday and I for one dont think for a minute everything is done and dusted at board level. When Iwas down at Ewood earlier the postman didnt arrive until 1145am

Agreed

We would be able to afford HTC's wage, what's a higher manager wage when we don't hesitate to give our players big pay rises, especially with the compensation we've recieved?

We should be easilly able to afford HTC wages and those of his staff.

It sounds like a case of the trustees being stingy and keeping the money from the Hughes sale.

If it is the case they are looking for someone cheap then hopefully that rules out BFS. The costs of employing his 32 staff would be huge.

Total rubbish.

We're a consistent Top 10 side in the richest league in the world, and have just recieved a substantial compensation payment by the club who took our manager. Also, chances are we'll be cashing in on our most over-priced player this summer.

We really should be interviewing the "stand-bys" and not the four who are going to be spoken to.

The fact we'll be looking for our new manager to bring in backroom staff is what really makes me fear Allardyce. Unable to dazzle the board with brilliance he'll baffle them with bull**** with all his "ProZone" crap.

This is a sad indicator of the level our board is aiming. I'd accept Shearer, but any of the other three would be horrific.

I agree that we should spend more money it just seems that the board has the inibility or lack of desire to cough it up. Hence the "Where has all the money gone?" arguments that spring up all of the time.

I would be on cloud bloody 999.9999 if we splashed some cash but have got rather used to auction bidding.

All of BFS's staff were not direct employees of BWFC aka winkers. They were employed by by the fitness/physio management that have a unit at the reebok and they are part owned by an Italian physio company who wupplied all the equipment at the breezeblock and training ground.

Good point, although Ince and Shearer are being interview because of who they were as players, and Allardyce because of what he achieved at Bolton. Martinez is the odd-one-out in that respect, and I just think being called Roberto Martinez makes him sound more appealing than if he had a plain old English name. Someone wins League One every year and they don't usually get linked to top Premiership jobs, so I'm trying to work out what makes Martinez different.

If you had honestly asked me who the brightest young manager outside the Premiership with potential was a few weeks back I'd probably have said Ince and Martinez. Swansea's record since Martinez took over reads P70 W42 D16 L12 which is impressive and they've done it playing good football.

Now I'm not saying that he should be the next Rovers manager, someone like Laudrup, Advocaat and even Ten Cate have more higher level experience and would be a safer choice. However surely Martinez has done as much as Paul Ince has. The only reason why you would prefer Ince over Martinez is because he's a supposedly bigger 'name'. He's also probably more arrogant as well.

There's no guarantee anyone will succeed. In a dream world if we attracted Mourinho there's no guarantee he'd succeed either. But it's about picking the man who is most likely to succeed, and based on past track records and experience both of those men are.

Now, don't you start using logic in this whole appointment saga! The Blackburn job will be new to every manager therefore the risk is the same, experience and track record is irrelevant.

On a more serious note; if we are going to pay MGP around 40k a week (reported in norwegian press) then we better well be able to pay for a half-decent manager! These rubbish players that earn @#/?-loads of money is bloody annoying!!

I think the four who will be interviewed are...Shearer, Allardyce, Ince and Martinez.

I think the standby two are Ten Cate and possibly Laudrup, who may be out of range for talks just now.

I reckon we can kiss our Premier League existence goodbye if any of those first four was to be given the job.

Seconded. Everyone needs to calm down and have faith in the board - they've got it right the last two times.

Nicko, if the board are set to interview four from the six names you mention, is it not more likely the four be Shearer, Allardyce, Ten Cate and Laudrup (i.e. the four managers not currently contracted anywhere)? as we would need permission to speak to Martinez and Ince? Not doubting what you say at all, just a thought I had.

Why?allardyce did a very good job with notlob with very little money, i think he could do a decent job with us probably the best out of those 4

You're right, I'm in no way an Allardyce fan but he's arguably the best choice out of those four.

I'd be very disappointed to see him at the club, but I would be genuinely scared if the other 3 were given the job.

AC Milan going in for Roque? £10m has to be the give away that this story is not true.

Interesting piece of snooping by nicko. Worth bearing in mind that after appointing Mark Hughes Rovers admitted to meeting 11 candidates last time around and that Hughes was seen three times.

I'm pretty sure it was four candidates...plus a standby. Hughes, Dowie, Strachan and AN Other [i can't remember exactly] with bizarrely Craig Levein as the standby.

Think I'd rather be scared than disgusted.

Oh come on, the man is hardly a rapist or a murderer. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?! He hasn't been found guilty of any wrongdoing.

I feel I have to make this clear with every post - I am not a BFS fan.

There's a fair chance that he did do wrong and I wouldn't want to see him at the club ideally. However, I'm not going to let the possibility that he might have been involved in wrong doing from the fact that he is more likely to succeed with us than the other three.

Didn't Dick Advocaat say he was interviewed last time?

I remember reading an interview held with Dick Advocaat where he said he applied for the Blackburn job, but instead the board opted for a British manager: Hughes.

Is this true?

If so I wonder if he applied again :P

who would you rather see in the hotseat in your opinion out of those 4 names above

Don't know. All make me very nervous. Just a personal thing with allardyce. I hated his attitude when he left Notts County to go to Bolton in the first place. Took one look at him then and felt the kind of loathing you do when something very nasty crawls out from under a stone. Physically repulsive. voice that I simply can't listen to. I could go on and on but I know it's not rational. Of the others none would be my choice but then what do I know. Any of them could be an abject failure or a roaring success. Just feel that having let Hughes go the successor should be someone that we can respect while he's here, and say thanks for the memories when he's gone, not someone we're going to have to get rid of before christmas and not someone who would have our better players who haven't already made their minds up heading out of the door.

Those four names aren't set in stone. Just nicko's guess. He's due one to be way off the mark.

Back to Big Fat Sam, I'd rather give the job to the tea lady.

Didn't mention any supposed wrong doing. As I said it's a personal thing. Some people you like immediately; some you grow to quite like and others just make you want to run a mile. He falls into that group.

I feel quite similarly about him.

But I'd rather we did well, carried on being a top half club, stayed in the league etc etc with a manager I wasn't personally fond of, over someone I'd be proud to call a friend but who got us relegated.

Can I just ask people to read back a couple of pages before asking questions. I know there's a lot of bumff to read through but the same questions keep coming up and they have been answered by Nicko before, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to be answering them again.

Take a few minutes and read through the days posts before asking.

Cheers guys.

Yep, that does get fair annoying
