He usually stands out because he gives 100%, similar to Nicky Butt.

Both of them stood out under Roeder because they try hard and he (Roeder) fell out with the better players at the club who stopped performing for him, he dropped N'Zogbia from the team completely so he could accommodate Duff because he was his buy and didn't really have the balls to leave such a high profile player out, even though Zog was our outstanding player the season before.

Milner is average mate and if Keegan gets a chance to get his money back on him he'll be off IMO, he'll bring in better and push Lomano LuaLua's younger brother closer to the first team as back up.

Agree, Milner is very average, cant beleive the hype thats surrounded him in the past hes your typical bog standard player.

Dennis Wise and Chris Hughton were in France scouting Stephane Sessegnon on Saturday.

Anyone know anything about him? Some say he's a defensive midfielder and others websites say he's an attacking midfielder.

Because he's English and was a identified as a precocious talent from an unfathomably early age, so his reputation has preceded him wherever he has played.

Blackburn are preparing an £11m raid on Espanyol to sign defender Marc Torrejon and striker Ferran Corominas. (Mirror)

Looks like these are the ones we were over getting a closer look at the other week. Was expecting a midfielder to be in there to be honest, does anybody know any more about these guys style of play etc?

It has been reported on Sky Sports News that Andy Johnson may leave Everton - personally, i think he would compliment Santa if he was available at the right price.

He has pace and makes great runs behind the back line, and he can finish, and has lost his way at Everton !

Or Mirror is just trying to put 2 and 2 together like this thread :)

Torrejon (22 y) seems to be a centre-back by the looks of it, a starter at Espanyol. Corominas (25 y) seems to be somewhere between the bench and the stands in the pecking order there.

It would be silly to spend £11m on a defender and striker when the most important player to bring in is a midfielder.

That's why it isn't true. Sparky wouldn't blow the entire budget in that fashion, he is far better with money control.

It is silly season at the moment.

My Toffee supporting mate has just sent me this:-

Mirror says we're going for that Jo at £18m.

Everton spending 18m on one player. What are they thinking (the papers)

I think someone has just caught up with the fact that the manager was at the game...it would be almost unbelievable for him to want two players from the one team.

David Moyes wants the player in question - Jo - and if you bother to buy the paper you will see how he is trying to do it.

The price can br staged, the player only rented for a lot of money and obviously Andy Johnson could be sold to pay for some of the costs.

It's the Everton manager's idea...not a newspaper's.

Sessegnon is a defensive midfielder, played one full season at Le Mans and quite a strong lad. Plays for Benin and is the usual big strong type much loved by some in the Premier League.

I'm not sure he would be Kevin Keegan's idea of a player. But what does that matter? ;)

More news about Bents Nicko?

Are they coming closer to an agreement or is he still thinking he is destined to play for Chelsea next season?

I don't think there are any talks planned...or any contract with a rise on the table.

As for Chelsea, he is stilll well down their list.

He needs to take different advice possibly. No doubt Kenyon will have him and his agent dangling on a string whilst privately he tries to get Messi or similar. It could go sour for Bents if he p1sses BRFC off too much whilst every other club gets 'fit up'.

It might be better if he goes whilst we can get big money for him. If he then stays he'll be disgruntled and Hughes will be tough on him, and his form / career / value may dip. All this England and Sun paper stuff has swelled his head and a replacement asap is becoming a priority. Replace him with one or two gud uns that we can sell on in a year or two, stash some cash and Jack Walker's business plan for BFRC is coming to fruition.

As an aside I was talkng to a scouser the other day who was asking ever so 'politely' <_< whether I thought we could hang on to Bentley... or not. I pointed out that if they wanted a good midfielder he'd be fine for them but if they seriously want to finish top of the pile rather than flounder around until eternity as hangers-on to the big 3 they'd be far better served buying Mark Hughes.

If the story from two Sundays ago was true then Bentley has already shot himself in the foot as far as Rovers go. He didn't sign last week, therefore the contract offer should now be off the table......

Liverpool just signed Degen from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.

He is a right back.

Who will lose his place? Could it be a good option for us?

We need a right back and they will probably sell or release one.

Nicko, what can you tell me about Hassan Yebda from Le Mans? Is he any good?

He is a midfielder, that newspapers here say that Benfica wants but the latest report say that he is going to Wigan on a free.

Wigan are interested in him, but Benfica may yet get him. He is OK, no more. I think he would be a squad man at Wigan, they are after more expensive and better players.

Finnan will go. But he is getting on and is being paid an amazing £40,000-a-week. There's a club after him but that will have to wait until tomorrow to be revealed, if you know what I mean... ;)
