There will be a few sightings and daft rumours in the next few days...but don't get carried away.

Allardyce is flying back for talks tomorrow...so his fan club will go into over-drive. I notice that a few have been backing him in the past few hours.

Like I said earlier, this has a way to travel.

And there will be a bit of news around 10pm.

In no way am I wishing to sound better informed than our esteemed ace reporter, no doubt he has already mentioned this point elsewhere, but I can share a snippet from a reliable source that the Board are very aware of the fans feelings about appointing BFS, and would not want to jeopardise the good work in attracting support in the past season. However, if it is felt that the fans could be won over to accept a more pragmatic approach whereby continued epl survival is acceptable, they would now be more than happy to oblige.

Croatia is his track record.

Unlike Hughes Billic got his nation to a major championship and do you not remember Wembley. Croatia were through no problem but beat a team full of stars in their own backyard, just because they could.

If victory over England is all it takes to be qualified, McClaren is the clear front runner. How many times did he beat England into submission?

On what subject? New manager - takeover - any other business?

It has been reported today that the manager of portugal will not be renewing his contract. This apparently due to the change in the contract and nothing to do with Chelsea.

Nicko If you had £100 right now and you had to bet on who the next Rovers manager would be, who would you put it on?

Don't do it!!

Though if you want a sure fire winner stick your cash on Seba Grosjean winning Wimbledon. It's his year this year!!!!!

Anyone else think that this sky sports link, is outlining the difficulties that JW now has? New manager needed and no backing from the clubs owners. Seems the only thing he can tempt a prospective new owner with, is not selling our current squad. New cash obviously at a premium. Oh for the times when the trust would help out when necessary. I wish Jack knew what was happening.

Can't believe that story, sorry. That's how support went downhill only 4 yrs ago, when that was exactly Souness's approach. ST sales plumetted and the club realised what was wrong.

Maybe JW is waiting until Croatia go out of Euro 08 before making the announcement.....

Hmmmm..... That 'end of next week' decision could make 2+2=5 out of this.....

From the Observer article.......

"What of his own future? Bilic recently signed a fresh contract - after making public noises about his position - that improved his salary from a paltry £45,000 to around £125,000, which is still hardly lucrative. This should take him through to the 2010 World Cup, yet Bilic recently interested Fulham and he admits: 'I would like to get to the Premier League.'"

Nicko, are you so sure they are skint? If they are going to get Jo and Ronaldinho on finance then it's only a matter of time before they are seriously in trouble is it not? Is Hughes being led down the garden path?

Nah..... Kenyon, Buck and Arnesen were the ones that did that! <_<

there are fortunately a sufficient number of fans who willl not be won over, or at least not while there is a viable option. Even those who slated me for saying I won't set foot in ewood if that man becomes manager agree that they don't actually want him themselves either.

Don't let the ones "slating" you, get to you. They've all been slated themselves at one time or another. In fact, we all have.

Oh, I'm not bothered. As I said last night it's a messageboard that allows different opinions and I know that mine on this is extreme but what the heck.

My recollections are of Pickering being a fans favourite, I remember staying behind after one night match in the BBE with a bunch of fans singing Picka Picka Pickering, not sure the occasion.

As for the actual accuracy of my memory, well I'm in the same boat as you Fife.

It was after winning the last game of the 1978-79 season against Fulham, although we were already relegated we had had a good end to the season and celebrated like we had won the league!! Remember it well.

Not slating your position, but I do disagree with it and all others who would bocott the club. If everybody had the attitude that they would stay away from Ewood if certain people were given the managers job. Then Rovers could never improve.

They like all clubs need the support of the paying fans. If Rovers do appoint somebody that we do not want, it is all the more important that we continue to support the club - so that Rovers could afford to sack the person and appoint a better manager if they need to do so - even if it means we have to grin and bear it for awhile.

But to refuse to attend Ewood would leave the club in a position to appoint anybody they could afford - the less money they have coming in, the reduction in quality of manager.

Just something for you and others to think about - do you follow Blackburn Rovers or the manager?

This is not panic on my part, but it is clear to me now we are going to end up with Sam Allardyce.

After thinking about it carefully, it just seems the right fit for our situation. It would be too much of a risk for a club to do anything else.

I can see why Shearer would hesitate coming, he does not have a chance to shape his own team. As Hughes said, there are so many times you can keep pulling rabbits out of the hat with the smallest transfer budget in the Premiership.

The purse strings have been tightened, and you need someone you can get bargain buys = Sam Allardyce. I can also see Sam impressing JW/the board, as he has similar views on sports science to Hughes (preparing your teams etc).

If people dnt like the manager, then y shouldnt they show their disapproval in sum way, maybe not as extreme as staying away.if JW and the board are smart enough, then there is no reason why they wont choose either BFS,or McClaren.the fact that both are even being considered, along with ince and shearer, shows signs of desperation.when u consider that there are top quality coaches who would be much better options.

Fair enough, but we are practically at the stage of 'Allardyce out' chants before he has even been appointed (which he might not be). I don't particularly want him but I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and get behind him and the team if it happens.

There may well be coaches with better reputations in Europe than Allardyce but the question is - can they manage in the Premiership on a shoestring budget? We know that Allardyce can but with the others it's open to question. The club's financial situation requires a man at the helm who can wheel and deal in the market in a similar way to Hughes. It's for that reason that Allardyce has my vote rather than some of the other candidates.

However, I've supported this club through thick and thin for forty odd years and no matter whoever is appointed I will continue to support them. I just don't understand anyone who says they will refuse to support the club if they don't like the manager. The club is far more important than any manager or player for that matter.

why exactly are you so negative towards big sam? is it because he managed bolton? remember he quit that job because he wanted to win things, and he did extremely well with bolton. much better than sparky did with us!

i dont mind the problems he had a newcastle. simpky because it is virtually impossible to work under those circumstances. some owners is all about names and nothing about quality. like city seems to be these days. ronaldinho? the man was refused my inter (or what ever club it was) because he's closer to the fitness of keith richards than a world class footballer. and this they want to splash big cash on?

give me fat sam!!!!
