I need a dose of pro Shearer news from Nicko, preferbaly along with some anti Allardyce news so I can sleep without nightmares tonight.

I fear the news will be the opposite, there has been quite a bit being layed on Shearer today, and a fair bit going on Allardyce

If we offer Allardyce a 3 year contract, I'll need more than prozac !

Is it true Allardyce asks for the seats to be tipped back at an angle so the fans can keep their eyes on the ball ?

But Allardyce bought 9 of those players so if they don't go together then who's to blame for that?

He also sold Kieron Dyer and Nobby Solano who were 2 of Newcastle's more creative players and replaced one with Alan Smith and didn't even bother replacing Solano at all, who's fault was that?

What about when he went to Pride Park and left Obafemi Martins on the bench in favour of an awful Shola Ameobi because he wanted a taller striker to fire long balls out of defence at, not to mention he went there with a view of playing for a draw and gave Derby their only win of the season, who's fault was that?

What about when he got the sack and Damien Duff came out and said the players were far from being at peak fitness under him, who's fault was that?

If you're happy putting up with some of the most boring football going then you will be happy with Allardyce, you might even get 8 years of it, from a Newcastle point of view I wouldn't complain if he got the Rover's job as we might have a chance of getting rid of the rubbish like Alan Smith that he brought here.

he had to build a brand new team. newcastle have been poor for years, bringing in has-been talent just to brag about names. when you start at a new job, do you feel that you know everyone you work with in and out after 6 months? i dont. to get people fit, happy and to understand each other takes more than half a season.

i dont know newcastle that well, but there may be a lot of reason to sell. maybe contracts didnt last much longer? input from the board to get money? they didnt match his visions?

first off, a draw away from home is good. even against derby if your team is struggling. blackburn have been awful against that type of teams under hughes - lost to all the relegated teams last season. we were about to lose to derby aswell. this was one of sparkys major problems.

the fitness thing can be just as much the players as the manager. its not a good environment at newcastle. no wonder they are not fit. also he just had half a season to get them fit. its not at all his fault. look at what he did at bolton, not newcastle. even the "messiah" keegan couldnt get them winning.

You're not making yourself look very bright with that.

How can you hate his transfer record? He brought excellent players to Bolton for their size (Diouf, Anelka, Okocha etc.) and found plenty of hidden gems for peanuts (Jaaskelainen, Ben Haim, Stelios). Fair enough his Newcastle signings weren't great, but then doesn't every player arriving at Newcastle end up playing terribly?

Also, the 'ProZone rubbish' as you put it, well Hughes is also a massive fan of that an uses it extensively. In fact, most top managers do.

The rest (basically style of football and personality) are pretty insignificant compared to getting results on a budget. Don't get me wrong, he's not my first choice or even my second, but if he does end up being appointed I'll understand why and I'll back him completely until I have reason not to do so.

If he can consistently keep us in the top 8, as he did with Bolton, without spending much money will you still be complaining?

Most managers use Prozone to look how much ground a player covers to give a better understanding of what they're capable of fitness wise, Allardyce on the other hand employees someone to break it all down for him so that he can tell the players where things haven't gone right in the first half when he's taking his half time team talk, most other managers prefer to go off what they actually see instead.

He also used it at Newcastle to defend himself against criticism for his awful tactics, 52,000 people could tell that the football was long ball rubbish but according to fat Sam these people didn't know what they were on about and should take a look at the prozone stats, he even keeps a record of the decisions that don't go his way on the pitch.

Beware managers who would rather go off what a machine prints out rather than what he's seen with his own eyes.

Here is a question for all Allardyce haters.what is it about the man that u dont like.is it his hair, his eyes, his ears, his clothes, the way he walks, the way he talks,or his smile?im guessing he aint sexy enough.imo the main reason people dont want him,is because they are seeing the Boltona "long ball" coach on the ewood park bench.if u look at the 2 squads at his disposal,if he has a squad of players like what we do,and plays long ball then he aint a proper coach. With Bolton,he had a squad who he could only play route 1 football.if he gets the job at Rovers,he could play any system and style he wants, because he has the players capable to do just that.

At Newcastle he had arguably a stronger squad than Rovers - and one not suited to the long ball game, yet that's what tried to get them to play. I'm sure our friend Baggio will back that up.

Shearer has declined the job - Beeb now

Heard it on the radio 5 as well.

Is there more to this than meets the eye? in particular about the "transfer budget"?

£10 million and maybe more if you believe what the reports are. Then there is the £5 million for Hughes, and the possibly money from Bentley if he is sold.

When you cosnider the stregth of our squad the budget is far from crap. Unless we are way out in our estimation of how much money we have to spend? maybe why Hughes suddenly left?

Nails on a chalkboard again gumboots.

btw... I thought you'd be back to normal by now.

Hating allardyce is normal. It's been the case since before he went to Bolton so I don't see me changing now. And as for the suggestions that if I don't go to Ewood I'll be watching it on some dodgy arab channel, neve have and never will. will stop talking about it as it winds you up so much but I am adamant I will not be at Ewood if allardyce tkes over and those who know me will tell you that that's a definite
