Wigan are interested in him, but Benfica may yet get him. He is OK, no more. I think he would be a squad man at Wigan, they are after more expensive and better players.

There are two problems for Benfica to sign him:

-Wigan pays better wages

- Benfica still has no manager.

So, maybe he will sign for Wigan.

And if any of you knows ROvers staff, please tell them to sign Cristian Rodriguez. He is in Benfica but on loan. (if Benfica doesn't)

Left midfielder, great pace, scores goals... A great competition for Pedersen.

Reading have called a news conference for today, does this mean Coppell has decided to step down? shame if so.

I see Brian Kerr has resigned at St Patricks, could he be a replacement?

Coppell has told some good pals of mine that he is going, he is technically out of contract anyway and Reading sounded out another boss last week.

So if he stays it will be an upset. But these things happen.

Seeing that we are desperately looking for pace Andy Johnson would not be a bad shout. But he is a rather one dimensional player though and as he is English probably over priced.

Worth 5m tops. Even that, in the context of our budget and what other players are available, seems a bit of a stretch. Another one in the "If we can ship Roberts out" catagory.

I am sure Everton will feel they can extract 8m from someone though.

I'd personally value Roberts at 2.5m and Johnson at about 5.

He's not a huge goalscorer - 22 in 2 seasons with Everton (2 penalties), and after netting 6 times in his first 9 games for them, he's scored 16 in the next 67 (at just under a goal every four games).

If he was available at 5m - he might be worth it if we could get 2.5 for Robbo - as we could do with some pace (on a player who can actually finish a bit).

I'd say priorities are definitely in midfield though. My ideal summer spending would see us land Farfan for 6m, Bradley for 4m and get someone like Danny Simpson on loan.

We value Roberts at 4, but you put Johnson at 5?

Yup. Realistically we are over pricing ROberts but under valuing Johnson. Such is business. Probably means we wouldn't get him obviously, but you should only ever pay what a player is worth to you. In context Johnson is only worth 5m - he is not going to answer enough of our problems to be worth an outlay of more than that. Conversely big Jase is our player so the only rule is that we wat to sell him for as much as possible not "what he is worth". Things can suprise you. We sold Kuqi for 2.5m. We bought Benni McCarthy for 2.5m.

Anyhow as we won't get Johnson for 5m then this is all a bit academic.

Tribalfootball is not the most accurate of sources i know, but:

http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=93757

"Everton boss Dave Moyes is expected to make a quick bid for Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley.

Moyes is eager to get his summer market work over with early and has watched USA international Bradley several times this season.

Heerenveen want £4 million for the 20 year-old, but with only a year left on the midfielder's contract, Moyes is seeking to do business at half that amount."

======

Can't see Bradley going for £2 million, but if Moyes will only be prepared to pay that it might put us in a stronger position if we are serious in going after Bradley.

Finnan will go. But he is getting on and is being paid an amazing £40,000-a-week. There's a club after him but that will have to wait until tomorrow to be revealed, if you know what I mean... ;)

great,Warnock down the left and Finnan down the right :tu: is that about right Nicko? ;)

I think someone has just caught up with the fact that the manager was at the game...it would be almost unbelievable for him to want two players from the one team.

are you sure theres nothing in tonge to blackburn??-for the past 4 sundays-we have been linked with him ..

Once again it is an old story. I must have a stalker.

I think Everton are now looking at 'better' or certainly more expensive players.

It's now THREE Espanyol players according to the latest tales. And it sounds as if the Spaniards want to sell. I'm not sure any of three - including Riera - are priorities just at the moment.

Tonge is an average Championship player who must have a mate in the newspaper industry.

wish mark hughes would bid on Bradley... getting fearful we might be taking things too slow at the moment :(

While Rovers would not be discouraged if another Premier League club were also after one of our targets I doubt we'd get into a bidding war for a player.

We've lots to offer the right player (good setup, superb manager, better-than-average chance of 1st team football) but lag behind almost everyone in the cash stakes.

Most of our deals come at the end of transfer windows. I expect this one will be the same.

Two observations about the Espanyol links:

- I recollect the official site said Sparky and Bowen had gone to Barcelona to meet contacts and gave the impression the Espanyol v Atletico game was secondary,

- the picture I saw of Sparky and Bowen at the game showed them in what looked to be open public seating and not with any officials or in plush seats. I doubt if they were there talking to Espanyol, they would have ended up looking like they'd just wandered over to Monjuic as ordinary punters to take in the game because it happened to be on.

PS There seems to be a pattern emerging that if an agent has a sub-Premier League level player who needs to move on, he links him to the Rovers!

blackburn linked to abdoulaye faye from newcastle again??

is hughes looking to buy a central defender-with us being linked to that espanyol defender aswell..

I would be shocked about the Faye idea - and I'm not sure I believe the Espanyol stuff either.
