John Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Laudrup sounds like a foreign Sparky: Laudrup has got them playing a good passing game, they are certainly no lumpers of the ball...but what they lack in individual brilliance and squad size they make up for with tremendous effort and application.

philipl Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 My order of preference now (assuming Mancini's hat is not in the ring): 1) Bilic 2) Laudrup 3) ten Cate But I'd be happy with any one of them and I'd enthusiastically back either Ince or Martinez if either of them come through the field.
Flopsy Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 thank what ever deity you believe in that Alan "Mary Poppins" Shearer is not going to be our manager, he would make Steve McClaren look competant. I also see that Chelsea have gone for that paragon of attacking, open, expansive football that is Phil Scolari.
Mc Love Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH........i havent been this excited/anxious/tense in ages about rovers. I was never happy with shearer being appointed, he clearly doesnt want anything to do with rovers, (Please don't use that word again) him and his attitude..(excuse the french) And i am really looking forward to my man getting appointed....and if he does get it and turns out to be a reject then you can go ahead and slate me, but i think it has to be Ten Cate. I really dont think Sam or Ince is the man to take control
PAFELL Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 PLENTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told you it was one or the other. Feeling quite pleased with myself right now. Nothing better than beating the bookie. Better take Mrs Nicko out quick before she finds out Just how much you have won
tchocky Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I'm happy Shearer turned us down, but I'm worried someone else I don't want will get it. I feel the same. For the record I would give any new manager a chance, even if it had been Shearer. No idea who I want to see in charge. Seems the known contenders fall into one of three categories: fantasy (Bilic, Laudrup, Mancini, Advocaat, Houllier), inexperienced (Martinez, Ince, Shearer, Berg), underwhelming (McClaren, Allardyce, Pearce, Coppell, Strachan). Don't know which category ten Cate falls into, but it doesn't feel right either. *EDIT: added some more names that have been discussed.

Blue n White Rover Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 No-one mentioned Bryan Robson for a few days now. You bloody had to!

Ronin Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 No-one mentioned Bryan Robson for a few days now. Thankfully
nicko Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Sorry, just got a bit nostalgic for this one... I've also backed Scolari. Two horses in the race, big prices. And remember Betfair's favourite is a non-runner. RIJKAARD - wanted a break. HIDDINK - never in it. ANCELOTTI - Kenyon's last big mistake? MANCINI - no. SPALLETTI - spaghetti.

nicko Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Does that mean YES to Rovers? I can't see it, but this is an ever-changing scene.
BlueMonday Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 A bit gutted about Shearer, but given that he had allegedly indicated an interest the way he's turned us down shows a lack of hunger. Shows the prudence of Rovers selection process. I'm now torn between Henk and Laudrup, though to my knowledge I don't think Laudrup has stated an interest.

Presty On Tour Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Does that mean YES to Rovers? would be quite something if that happened
LeChuck Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 HENK TEN CATE ... Honours: Hungarian Cup (2000) La Liga (2004, 2005) Champions League (2006) Dutch Super-Cup [the Johan Cruijff-schaal] (2006, 2007) KNVB Cup (2007) Oh come on, you can't put down things won as an assistant, otherwise we'd have McClaren and Kidd at the top of the shortlist. As a manager he's been with Ajax for a season, then managed a load of also-rans. There are probably a load of managers around like him, he's only made a name for himself by getting to big clubs as an assistant, I see nothing in him that suggests he's a good manager. A Hungarian cup and the Dutch cup just don't cut it I'm afraid.
Blue n White Rover Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I can't see it, but this is an ever-changing scene. When will this end. I dont know about the rest of you but I just want all this to end. I think i must have gone through every emotion over the past week or so and I cant bare to hack it any longer. Just give someone the Job please!! P.s. Please give it to Henk OR Mancini (I'm in dreamland)

leftfooter Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Unlikely to hear any criticism or indeed cynicism from either of those paragons of strict BBC impariality, Hansen or Lawrenson for the bottler Shearer. Whoever comes in now for us can expect a rough ride from the old boys network at Shepherds Bush.

Big sam only won promotion. thats only half true. he got bolton to the EPL, and established them at the top 8. no matter how you tweak it that is impressive.
