is there any players you can confirm we are looking at??

I think there have been many scouted, but I have not heard of one bid - possibly because prices are too high with some potential targets like Bradley and possibly Huddlestone.

There is an awful lot going on in the transfer market just now, players being offered and bids being made everywhere by many clubs, but it would be a wise policy to wait and see exactly who becomes available...and at what cost.

While Rovers would not be discouraged if another Premier League club were also after one of our targets I doubt we'd get into a bidding war for a player.

We've lots to offer the right player (good setup, superb manager, better-than-average chance of 1st team football) but lag behind almost everyone in the cash stakes.

Most of our deals come at the end of transfer windows. I expect this one will be the same.

as he is in the last year of his contract a lot of the power in the transfer lies in the hands of the bidder. Essentially Hereeven will take what is offered providing it is not considered derisory.

If Everton really have moved on to "bigger and brighter" targets and no other clubs are seriously looking at him we can wait this out and force down the Dutch clubs price to 3 or even 2 million over the summer.

Yes I do. This time last year they were all set to sign Riquelme and look what happend there

To be fair to Moyes and Kenwright they tried hard to sign Riquelme. I would never fault a club for aiming high.

Anyway, the point is they want Jo - and they can pull off the deal.

Jo- is a striker ?

Didn't you mention earlier that Everton would be lacking depth in midfield ?

Why splash all the cash on a striker when they yakubu, johnson, cahill ?

blackburn linked to abdoulaye faye from newcastle again??

is hughes looking to buy a central defender-with us being linked to that espanyol defender aswell..

Faye's been one of our better players I'd be surprised if Keegan let him go, he's even better in the holding midfield role so perhaps Hughes is looking to play him there since he had the other Faye in from Charlton for a trial.

Not sure what will happen with Barton, i think Keegan will want to stick by him but the board might want to get rid.

And if you include the very talented Vaughn and Adiadiadicheebeee (dont know the spelling :P ) then they really dont need another.

Wondering what will now happen to Barton after he has been sentenced to 6 months in jail?

I can’t see Newcastle sacking him because even though he has some serious anger management issues he is a talented footballer. Since linking up with Keegan again he seems to have kept his nose clean.

Sentenced to 6, out in 3? He'll only miss pre-season and the very the start of next season?

That said he's still got another case pending, hasn't he?

Moyes wants Jo to play with Yakubu. Johnson can be cover - or be sold. Anichebe is not rated that highly. Vaughan has trouble with injuries.

Everton also want a midfield player from the top drawer.

Moyes has around £20 to £25 million to spend and that could rise if he sells.

Anyway, enough about them...

Like you said - he'll most likely only serve half the sentence. Is the timing of the sentencing (ie. when the season ended) coincidental?

Anichebe just hasn't got enough goals in his numerous sub appearances - despite being quite impressive.

I think Moyes is too ready to splash big on single targets. It can work but as Hughes has shown, you don't have to pay over the odds for quality.

That's sickening. We have no chance of competing.

They openly said they wanted to delay to the case until the season had finished, which imo is wrong. He should have been dealt with like everyone else and had it set randomly. Regardless of how it affects his career. Life wouldn't be long enough.

Knowing what we know about Barton, would you really take a bet that he gets out eral based on "good behavior". The guy can;t help but start a punchup on a training ground, and he's supposed to be a good lad in prison?

I wouldn't give up just yet, but it is becoming harder.

Everton DID spend well last season as Yakubu was top scorer and Jagielka worked out well. Baines was the only flop.

The fact is that they find money - and have more fans.

If Moyes spends well again fifth place is out of the question for Rovers.

If Hughes has 10m to spend - I think we'll compete with Everton - as for me Hughes is a better manager than Moyes. Yes Hughes makes mistakes, our cup exits last season were very disappointing (ie. playing one up front at home to Larissa).

However, in the full seasons Moyes has been in charge of Everton they have finished 7th, 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th and 5th. That is an impressive achievement even with the money.

Hughes took over a club heading for relegation, kept them up, and then in his first 3 full seasons we've finished 6th, 10th and 7th on a very limited budget. We've also had two FA-Cup Semi final appearances and won more games in Europe under Hughes than in the history of the club.

It would be quite something,if Barton was a Rovers player…and he put in a crunching tackle on benni in training lol would be absolute chaos. With big Cris Samba stepping in to play peace maker

I am sure the bbc article stated that the verdict had been declared a month ago but it was agreed would not be released until now.

After re reading the article it states he admitted his guilt a month ago and has now been sentanced, so I guess his time starts now.

Reading have called a news conference for today, does this mean Coppell has decided to step down? shame if so.

I see Brian Kerr has resigned at St Patricks, could he be a replacement?

That made me smile that did  ...if true, enjoy the Conference Royals :rover:

A member on the norwegian Rovers-forum wrote that reserve-striker Raffaele De Vita had written on his Facebook-page that he'd been released from Rovers. Haven't read anything about it elsewhere so far, of course he isn't a high-profile player to get the big headlines.

I was wondering Nicko if you know anything about the futures of the three released Rovers-players Enckelman, Berner and Henchoz? Would be interesting to know :tu: And speaking of squadplayers - have you heard anything about the futures of players such as Paul Gallagher, Aaron Mokoena, Sergio Peter? Thanks again for your posts on this forum, a thrill to read them! :rover:
