That's one mother of a grim looking list.

Arguably the two most intriguing possibilities aren't in the running and the only one I really fancy of the rest is Ince.

If pushed for an alternative I'd go for Alan Irvine at a pinch.

How long before Peter Reid, Bryan Robson and Souness enter the fray?

i agree, it really does not give u great confidence with all these numpties on the list.

maybe with better players at the club then allardyce had at newcastle or bolton he would get blackburn playing in a different way..

for me the first choice has got to be henk ten cate tho..

after that i would rather prefer allardyce to mclaren and paul ince..

Interesting fact I have just been told by my brother who was on a course in Bolton yesterday.

And I do mean FACT.

He stopped at The Last Drop in Bromley Cross last night and also staying overnight were Kenny Dalglish and Phil Thompson.

No idea of any significance but could be something Nicko to inquire about ?

Would make a great headline Nicko !

I was at a charity golf competition at Withnell near Chorley on Monday and the guest was Kenny Dalglish, as the event was to raise money for the Marina Dalgliesh Breast Cancer Appeal. (his wife).

He is playing other events locally this week with various other celebs. He said that watching on the TV is as close as he wants to get to the game these days.

Big sam please don't sign that dotted line please don't.

If sam was appointed, i think the new club shop should sell neck braces with a rovers logo on them, because after watching some of the football that Big Sam will introduce at ewood i am sure every supporter will need need one.

I agree. And with Rovers keen to get every man jack inside Ewood, style of play should be the show stopper for Sam. However, reports at the time of the England interviews indicated he nearly presented himself into a job with a hugely impressive lap top powered analysis of the game, of tactics and his overall strategy for the national side. Sometimes it is about sales and chemistry. I suspect Ince would grate a bit on a personal level. No idea about HTC's persona. BFS may just be JW's type. Disaster.

An update after a long and slightly sweaty day...

Mark Hughes is being backed by several senior figures at Chelsea, Abramovich still has a dream about landing Scolari.

However Scolari won't give any form of commitment, so it is looking like Sparky will get the nod.

I think Scolari will be given an ultimatum shortly - maybe a day or so - and if he declines then there will be an approach to Rovers.

It needs to be that kind of time-scale for all concerned.

was pretty clear to me this was a 2 horse race!

james milner to liverpool for 7million is this true???

Newcastle already turned down £7 million from Villa...so I can't see that happening with Liverpool for the SAME price.

Could be a wind-up for Rovers's benefit - we're going for him not Bentley blah blah. If so, it won't work.

If we get McClaren he would go and bloody spend 15 million on Stewart Downing!!! Not to McClaren and Allaydyce

Also the 'no to fat sam group' is just under a 1,000 members of facebook!!

Thanks for that, couldn't remember the date. Hard to believe what happens in a fortnight.

No wonder the transfer market hasn't kicked off in earnest...everybody has been trying to get their managers first.

I'll be gutted if we go for Allardyce. Rovers surely have more class than to appoint him. I'd rather us take a step backward to push on with Ince and Martinez rather than bring Allardyce in to bore us all to death.

We have little chance of winning much so let's at least get a manager who wants to entertain the fans.

COPPELL - also has been mentioned, like him despite reservations elsewhere, would take him seriously.

He plays some entertaining football but the squad rotation did quite a few Reading fans heads in. Remember some of the brilliant counter attacking goals reading scored where one minute they were defending their goal and the next they had 5 in the opponents area. How often this season had we seen rovers on a counter attack with most of the defence and midfield staying back? Brilliant scout too finding Doyle and some others. But you do get relegated for a reason and it usually falls down to management. If he got rid of his rotation policy then he would be a good option. I know many will now disagree with me!

No nothing like that.

Just a bit strange that they were both there.

Could be nothing but just imagine ......

It might be to do with this...

I was at a charity golf competition at Withnell near Chorley on Monday and the guest was Kenny Dalglish, as the event was to raise money for the Marina Dalgliesh Breast Cancer Appeal. (his wife).

Sorry Brownie, just seen your reply :-)

Don't know if you had the privilege of press conferences with Avram Grant.

Think Ten Cate might have been the brains of that operation.

Hell of a coincidence that he was at Barca and Chelsea when things went right I do agree... ;)

Juliano Belletti <_<

Just had a giggle about people questioning Ten Cate's temperament.

Sky TV just showing Scolari smack a Croatian player with a classic haymaker.

He is the next manager of Chelsea.

Nothing wrong with a bit of fire and passion.

It might rub off on the players and the fans won't object.

Not that I'm advising banjoing rivals, of course.

surely allardyce would be a better option then ince or martinez

1 he has premierleague experience

2 as shown at bolton he did a good job there

hes been there and done it in the premierleague-ince and martinez may have done well in lower leagues but the premierleague is a completely different ball game
