I do like Coppell, but you would have to look in his eys and see if there is still any fire in there. If he was keen, then I would consider him. I think he is a good man.

I still remember the sheer enthusiasm of his team at your place on the last day a year ago in one of the best games I have seen for some time.

the thing worng with Coppell is i don't think he will be to convince Rocky and Bentley to stay at Rovers not to mention other players

Bentley is our key player Nicko, he was class last season and set up an awlful lot of chances for Rocky last season. With out him in our side we are a very average side.

Villa would miss Barry more than you would miss Bentley.

If a big bid came in I would sell and give the next gaffer lots to play with - the profit is TOO great to turn down.

I think that it'd be nigh on impossible to get Bilic. He has stated that he wants to manage in Premier League but at the moment with his success with Croatia he is being touted for top jobs in Italy, Spain and Germany. Along with Laudrup he is the other outstanding candidate out there but feel that our chances of getting are slim.

Personally, I don't think Ince is getting a fair shake on here. I along with a handfull of others, have been keen on him from the start, though I was temporarily seduced by the Shearer thing.

Here's a bloke who has been a winner all his career, played at the very top with THREE clubs who have been European champions, and been a dominant dressing room force in all of them. You can't tell me he wouldn't be able to handle Bentely, Benni, Roberts etc.

But then he wasn't too arrogant to drop down a level as his playing powers faded. He's played at Wolves, a club like us in many ways.

Then he took the huge risk in getting his managerial feet wet while others copped out on the cosy couches of the TV studios. Taking over Macclesfield, he had everything to lose and very little to gain; same with MK. If they failed, he wasd a flop; if they succeeded, then well it's only Div 2 blah blah.

So this guy has playing stature, personal balls and had succeeded so far as a manager, but he still has a lot to prove.

Sounds like a good mix for a club like us.

Nicko, much talk about Bilic on here. Why isn't he being looked at?

It's possible that they are but the lack of word about it suggests not - yet.

Bilic is a bit of a publicity machine and would use any Rovers approach to get more out of the Croats or turn the heat on West Ham, where he would really like to end up.

There is this love-in with Bilic just now but I recall that his cheating cost a good pro - Laurent Blanc - a place in a World Cup final in 1998. He pretended to be caught by an elbow. It always sticks in my mind.

i agree Barry is a very good player, but i think Bentley can make things happen more in a match then Barry can do.

Celtic's offer seems to appeal to Coyley, but I'm not sure that the player wants to go - he may prefer Wolves. Could do with it being wrapped up it's become like a dog chasing its tail and going round in circles. Wherever he goes it's a good move for the kid and a lot of money for the McDingles. Just need to get five or six new faces and it's game on...

I think a move to Scotland is potentially bad. If he fails to settle he'll be into the reserves and who will take notice of him there. As it's been well documented he would prefer Wolves, then Rangers but certainly wouldn't rule out a move to Celtic, although that could strike a bad chord with negative d1******s out and about for their obvious reasons.

Let me know if you hear of anything major on this, thanks.

Once a new boss comes in that one will come back into focus. I honestly don't believe that anyone will offer that dosh for him.

But it could yet be a crazy summer.

Yes it could be a crazy summer, especially with the price of English talent. Has there been any update with the ruling of having only 6 foreign nationals in the squad. Is it likely to be passed within the near future. Surely then that will lead to more outrageous bids in the region for £16-17m for the likes of Darren Bent.

Similar to Sparky? Got the Man City approach in order to turn the heat on Chelsea but back fired and ended up taking the City job

Forget Bilic - he's just flavour of the month on the back of victory over a poor England team and the fact he talks a good game.

When his team flop at Euro 2008 fans might not be quite so keen.

I don't what the Rovers board are waiting for - why don't they appoint Allardyce now as was always their original intention ?

We wont know that unless we approach him. So my question still stands.

i agree we should approach him and see if he is intrested or not. Deep down though i think now that Shearer has turned us down the board are going to apoint Big Fat Sam, which to be truthfull quite scares the hell out of me. Championship here we come

what I really want to know is how JW thinks he can sell allardyce to the rovers fans who don't want him. I know there are some who do and obviously they'd take no convincing, but JW comes out of his office and talks to people waiting in the ticket queue and so on so you can't tell me he's not in touch with what the fans think. there is more than a little animosity on here towards the idea of allardyce as manager and can you imagine how great that could become if the nightmare becomes reality. In the end it's not about snazzy presentations, technical wizardry and so on. I've told you, anyone with a decent technical staff can put them together, and even without one they're not that impossible. when it comes down to it it's can you deliver the results? Can your team play the kind of football that our fans want to watch and that will make them bring their mates along too? It's are you a suitable frontman for our club - do you put forward the image that we want to see in the media? It's is there any mud sticking to you because our fans are, whatever their beliefs, on the whole quite a moral bunch? It's can you handle the players we've got here without huge numbers of backup staff who take money out of a very tight budget so that we can bring in new faces? And it's about are you, the whole package, the right man to take rovers forward from where we are now to where we want to be in the next 3-4 years. Now there are those who think that allardyce can deliver the results but I'm not even sure on that, but I don't see any evidence for him ticking too many of the other boxes, and so if JW and the board appointed him, I think they'd have a real job on their hands to persuade the fans he was the best choice in the circumstances, which I think is the best they could hope to do.

If Ronaldinho and Jo don't join - and he is left with a bunch of players who they have been trying to sell - then there may be enough egg on face to make an ommelette.

...yeh, what happened to the whole squad are transfer-listed ? Are they still up for grabs, or is it just a case of no takers ?

FBS wouldn't get us relegated, that's not what worries me at all, he could even do well for us (like he did at Bolton where he was successful unless you are ignorant to their highest top-flight finish in recent history and cup final appearance). It's his dealings off the pitch and the tactics he reportedly uses to sign players that I don't like and I don't want to start reading about BRFC in the same controversial circumstances.

A case of silly prices. As we speak Dunne, Ireland and Johnson are still halfway out of the door.
