Out of interest, is that because you really think he is a top manager? Or because you don't want Sam Allardyce to get it?

I wouldn't say he is a top manager, but what I would say he is suitable for our job. How he performed with Ajax and his record with Barca and Chelsea was amazing. Although he was No:2 I personally feel he was the one that got Chelsea to that final. Lets be realistic do you see Avram Grant having that much footballing knowledge? I don't.

From the candidates that have been mentioned he has to be the most attractive option with his ability and aggressive manner.

Wouldn't want BFS anywhere near our club and im shocked at the fact he's getting an interview tommorw!!:angry2:

Allardyce isnt Blackburn simple as, he isnt for Blackburn, or ever shall be Blackburn, i find it very strange that the board are wasting their valuable time with this man.

When will the board turn itself to someone who can genuinely lead Rovers forward in a manner that will be exceptable to the masses and not waste it on a rivals bygone hero.

It's not a case of "Henk Ten Cate is the best manager out there".

It's more a case of "considering our other applicants and desire to come here, Henk Ten Cate is the best of the bunch."

I would say its more of a case that Henk Ten Cate is the best manager available to Blackburn Rovers! I really am looking forward to the prospect of Ten Cate being our next manager,

The guy may be tough on players but that is to get the best out of them & he has proved in the past that whatever his motivation tactics are they work!! I love strong characters as mangers its all part of the drama!!

...Arsene Wenger wouldnt dare give negative post match interviews regarding our side!!

Obvious WWW....... Because the people who run BRFC would have picked him to manage their / our club. The same people (basically) who appointed Mark Hughes. Rem Sam Allardyce will not have appointed himself. If the board appoint Allardyce it's because they think it is the best decision for the club given the situation at the time.

Not really addressed my point there Theno.

The situation at the time is we are an established top 10 side, having attracted larger gates through a superb marketing campaign. The business model will be based on Premiership survival, The football model should be based on attracting further fans through an exciting brand of football and cracking the top 6. Allardyce may achieve the business model, he will not realise the football model IMO.

The appointment is viewed as a statement of intent by fans. Are we a business or a football club? Most fans would hope we are the latter, if not - for me and many others, the soul will have disappeared from BRFC.

OK, a minor update.

I believe the interviewing process will go on until the end of next week now.

Sam Allardyce will finally see the club - after prepping up tonight - sometime tomorrow.

I think they will speak to three or four more, trying hard to stay out of the glare of publicity [that's me] but won't finish this process until next midweek.

That sounds like a good plan to me. I think the Shearer affair knocked them back but they are still on top of the job.

Quite pleased that public response has been noted. I think that suggests you have a listening management.

By the way my CV is crap but I will be speaking to my personal spin doctor to see if he can do something to help... ;)

Cheers Nicko. With any luck, Mr Williams will conclude tomorrow's meeting with Mr Allardyce with a "Don't call us, we'll call you" :-)

For god's sake!.

Why doesn't the club just save itself 2m p.a. and we can select the team each week by text vote.

985 now on the polite request to Mr Williams not to appoint Mr Allardyce.

Come on boys and girls, make it 1,000 tonight or are our two cats going to have to get their own Facebook accounts?

Seriously, it's football! For some on here this has got way more than just about not wanting BFS as our manager, it's turning into mob mentality! I'm personally not over the moon about bfs, but I'm more worried about the standard of candidates in general that we/re attracting, but John Williams is too smart to be swayed by a FaceBook petition, especially when less than 33% of names on here actually walk on Ewood!

And as for clicking on FaceBook '1000' times, why not do something that really matters and help save a life by clicking on the breast cancer site a '1000' times before morning and let JW worry about running our beloved club successfully (as he has been doing for several years). He didn't need our help when he appointed GS and MH. I think he knows what he's doing. He'll choose the right guy!

To be fair I don't think the opposition to either Souness or Hughes was of the same nature as the objections to allardyce. There were reservations about them but not straightforward "We don't want them" from even a significant minority of fans

Haha, superb. Just wondering though Nicko - What evidence do you have that the tidal wave of anti-Allardyce sentiment is being acknowledged?

Is it a contact with the club board? The office? Any kind of cryptic clue would do, it's just I'm so desperate to believe it, and I'd feel much better doing so if I knew a rough source!

What do you mean by how he performed at Ajax? From what I have read the Ajax fans wanted him out.

I remember people saying that Brian Kidd was a major influence in Man United being successful.

Mein gott, amazingly enough it's getting a touch heated in here!

I think I've already thrown my hat into the no Allardyce ring but here's confirmation anyway. Somewhat of a reiteration but, at this stage, his potential for success is pretty irrelevant to why I don't want him to manage my club. I don't think he has exonerated himself sufficiently from the bung speculation, his Warnock esque moaning about decisions against whilst never admitting to his or his players mistakes, his ever present negative football... well those three will do for now.

If he becomes manager I'll still support the team in the same way I do now. I'll even end up supporting the bugger in a biased fashion at some point (though I've more than enough mates who'll pick up on it immediately and thoroughly rinse me for it!).

Having a, for my money, bung cheat as manager will really crucify me. Football is starting only to interest me game to game (i.e. I'm getting less concerned about league position etc before and after a game if that makes sense) and this would probably make me take another step in that direction. I'll still go to as many games as I can this year and I doubt anything will stop me getting a season ticket again once I hang up my own boots but still, Sam Allardyce... ugh.

Oh, as a TRP: After the Croatia game today I happily fell into the trap of wanting Bilic even more. Despite international competition time and again bigging up someone way above their talent level he's once again my dream appointment.

Allardyce will be interviewed, but the negative feeling among fans is a factor that is being taken into consideration.

I mentioned it when there were first stirrings against the idea and the more I think about it the more relevant it is.

The Trustees are not putting money in, they want to sell, so how would it look if they lost some of what is already a pretty tight-knit group of fans - and season tickets were hit?

When buyers come around they look at those figures. If they see that LESS are buying season tickets then it reduces the value of the club - and what the Trustees can sell for.

In this case I know that Chris Ronnie's team are against Allardyce - especially if h brings a dance troupe with him. NOT that this is a deciding factor, but again it is a consideration...but a lot less than popular support among the fans.

So this really is quite a unique set of circumstances where the opinion of the fans is being and should be taken into account.

You might not realise it, but I think there's a little bit of history going on.

Nicko, you say that Chris Ronnie's team are not big fans of BFS, any ideas of who they would prefer. This has to be something JW has to take into account as well.
