Should not be hard to figure out. At the time everyone had the hots for him one of the so called big pluses was his alleged ability to attract top players, I said at the time I thought there was a lot pf players that did not or do not particularly care for Mr Shearer.

Why on earth should anyone be worried about alleged comments made years ago when he was a player at Inter and a move to Rovers was suggested. Are we a bigger club than them?

Exactly. Especially as he then went to Liverpool.

It's ludicrous to suggest that someone's employment prospects should depend on one off the cuff comment made a decade ago

Anyone who things he's good at "bargain basement buys" should read Nicko's insights on the subject - We won't be paying players £75,000 per week like Anelka and Okocha.

Your reading comprehension isn't that good. Nicko only said that Anelka was on 75k per week.

How important was Phil Brown in the 'success' at Bolton?

All the positive things that can be said about Sam at Bolton, and which would appeal to our Board, seem to include Brown as his #2. Sam went to Newcastle on his own and bombed out. Brown went to Hull on his own and got them into The Premiership.

If The Club are looking for a continuation of the work done at the Breezeblock (safety on a shoestring) then maybe we are speaking to the wrong person? Or at least it needs to be taken into account that, perhaps, a vital part of Sam's backroom staff is no longer available to him.

When the vacancy came about, I floated Phil Brown as someone the Rovers should look at very seriously.

Allardyce isnt Blackburn simple as, he isnt for Blackburn, or ever shall be Blackburn, i find it very strange that the board are wasting their valuable time with this man.

Quite right. His playing style just isn't right for the club and wonlt do much to get the bully boy tag off us either. I want to see a hungry, eager, attacking oriented coach come in and help shoot some energy and life into this club, regardless of what his name might be at this point.

NO it won't.

I've gone over my reasons time and time again (as have the other sane members of this forum who appreciate just how catastrophic an Allardyce appointment would be).

Lower attendances, horrible football, a poor transfer record, arrogance, an inability to deal with crises, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Hopefully this will be my last bad night's sleep caused by the fear of waking up to the news BFFS is our new manager.

Exactly the reasons the man is a loser before he starts.

Bolton - biggest town in the UK

Bolton - ended up with the lowest attendances in the premiership with rubber face in charge, with most of their fans being resigned to watching their team play horrible football because they were hoodwinked into believing that it was their key to SURVIVAL in the premiership.

So we appoint rubber face and go from a team always pushing the top eight to a team set up to avoid relegation......what a sack of shiite.

Now way should it be allardyce - BRFC are just too good for him - I am putting my faith in JW to see sense.

Saf, You are Evil.

I felt sick after you said that it was going to be a press conference.

After all its Friday 13th.

I think Sam is desperate after the manager job at Rovers. He needs to get back on the track.

I also fear that there's better possibilities of hiring Sam when he says that he doesn't need his backroom staff.

In this case I know that Chris Ronnie's team are against Allardyce - especially if h brings a dance troupe with him. NOT that this is a deciding factor, but again it is a consideration...but a lot less than popular support among the fans.

So this really is quite a unique set of circumstances where the opinion of the fans is being and should be taken into account.

You might not realise it, but I think there's a little bit of history going on.

How beautifully ironic it would be if we installed Allardyce, and then Chris Ronnie, with his connections to Mike Ashley, came in and sacked him because he wasn't the man he had hired...although that said, I'm not sure whether beautiful and Allardyce can go together in a sentence, unless interrupted by the word 'death'.
