Any idea when Henk will get interviewed?

Yes, but if I said that there would be a mass of banners and Henkists heading for a secret venue in the north west.

There are public order issues to consider here...

If "fan power" succeeds in preventing this no-talent, arrogant, contemptuous, wretched, dishonest, heinous, cocky, egomaniacal, obnoxious, loathsome, uppity, despicable, repugnant, one-dimensional, confrontational, corrupt, abhorrent, brainless, total nightmare of a "manager" from being put in charge of our club - then it certainly will be a great day for Blackburn Rovers.

NO TO ALLARDYCE. :angry2:

Big round of applause for that Spencey! The longest and most applicable set of adjectives ever.

Also, just a little fact for people to ponder on: today is the only instance of Friday the 13th that occurs in 2008. What a wonderful day to be interviewing BFS as the only candidate!

The last bit is very odd as his next move after Rovers could hardly be described as a career move. Oh well, very relieved, but questioning the judgement of the board that they'd appoint him without even speaking to the other candidates.

Is Ince not a candidate?

Ince is on Nicko's list if you look back.

As Ten Cate is defo getting an interview I just can't see beyond him. Head and shoulders above everyone else. Only stumbling blocks I can see is

a) Rovers' funds

B) His salary

c) Possibly him and JW not getting on.

But realistically he is going to get the job. Just stuck a tenner on him.

Henk Ten Caat has only ever had issues with Big Time Charlies...I cant see anyone other than Bentley at our team that fits that billing.

Nicko it wouldnt be that bad if 500 Rovers fans off this board were at the venue with banners saying pick Henk, as the show of support could sway both parties! ;)

Just 500? ;)

During the talks it became obvious that Shearer and his advisers wanted too many clauses and demands - all different kinds - and they put a few backs up.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but the areas that caused problems included his media work, possible merchandising deals and the inevitable compensation issues if someone else came on for him.

Funny, because it reminded me of when he was a player and spoke to both Blackburn and Man U when he was leaving Southampton.

At the time I was close to Fergie - now that WAS a long time ago - and by chance spoke to him minutes after Shearer said 'no.' He was raging and ripped into him, saying his '****ing agent' just wanted to talk about clauses and his NEXT move.

Sir Furious didn't like that at all. Shearer has changed agents since, but he is apparently still the same animal.

Think he had a female agent at the time...Rachel Anderson ? Something like that. Not making a sexist comment. Its just she sticks in my mind that's all

It'd be impressive as (at this time) only 51 have voted for him

Billic is doing his chances of a decent next job no harm. Shame that the timing is completely out of sync for us. I'd be happy with Ten Cate, or having a punt on a lower league manager like Johnson/Ince/Martinez. It might be the making of them, and us.

I'm rapidly going off BFS, who I was OK about.

Will we have a manager by this tme next week?

Nicko,

If you were a betting man lets say would you put your money on Ten Cate being the next manager?

I had a few bob on him at 15s or 16s a few days ago, simply because I felt good about him as a candidate and thought he could get it.

However I wouldn't advise anyone backing anyone right now because it is a wide-open interview process.

I think there is a 'field' and one of them will get it.

The only 'value' is in a surprise result and I don't see that happening and anyone coming of left field.

If no-one is appointed by this time next week, of course, then it's all change.

"Allardyce and Ten Cate deffo, Ince, McClaren and Martinez probably, Boothroyd maybe"

If this remains the shortlist, then it's very uninspiring. With a couple of names potentially a cock-up waiting to happen.

Although, to be honest, I don't see BFS as one of those.

Ten Cate, yes.

On the old 'something to prove' line, maybe we should start rethinking McClaren?

Won a trophy for Middlesbrough (a club I think we have close parellels to) & got to the UEFA Cup Final (a decent run in Europe wouldn't be bad!).

He'll be desperate to put the England thing behind him, too.

I don't think he and Fergie got on - no bad thing mind you - and I'm pretty sure that the whole Shearer thing was part of that.

Not totally sure Stephens was the main focus for his anger at the time or his 'boss' Jon Holmes.

Still, Shearer did all right out of it and Rovers didn't exactly suffer from his decision to join them and give Man U a few custard pies afterwards.

Any thoughts on Fernando Torres, Nicko? Surely he will be staying at Liverpool?

Normally I would say 'no way' to a move from Liverpool.

But with the Americans in control and money their main issue, you never know.

It's the same with any club owned by someone just in it for the cash...

Mind you they would burn down Anfield.

Although that may speed up the change of ground...

Got my brother whose a Liverpool fan and really gets on my nerves banging on about Fernando Torres. I'd love to see him leave Anfield!

Mind you the song they have for him is quite catchy :P
