2) pace

Not the kind of pace I want. I don't think Roberts is a perfect partner for Santa Cruz.

Currently he is easily our fastest player. Which is a bit embarrassing but the truth.

Also he combines his pace with his strength well. By all means get someone in and then sell him but don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Hughes was looking at Ghaly. Hughes has shown he can get the best out of players, especially those who are struggling at other clubs or aren't getting the opportunities they desire. Recent and good examples of that are Warnock and Bentley.

I think if we can get him for a reasonable price (so we aren't ripped off by Spurs) he might be worth a serious look.

If we do get him i hope he won't be our only addition to Midfield, i'd like to see us bring in another quality midfielder as well.

I agree. He can play both midfield and right back and actually I think he has been very good in some of the matches I have seen him.

It would be a typical Mark Hughes masterstroke. It is a reason why he has 21 caps for Egypt and was an important squad member in Spurs.

Think it was on Soccer AM when Bentley said that the fastest person at Rovers was Emerton.

New poster , please be gentle

i would be extremely disappointed if we were looking at ghaly , i think his attitude matches his ability

we need real quality in midfield , too many times last year we looked slow and laboured in midfield no-one was willing to

"bomb on" past the front 2 or 1 in some games , how many goals did sav , dunn , reid, tugay, moko & vogel get between them ???

What i will find interesting is how much Spurs would value him at. Does anyone recall the price being quoted in the media that Spurs said Derby would have to pay to sign him? I think it may have been £1-2 million, though i'm not 100% sure.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Spurs bumped the price up considerably if we show signs of real interest.

I think he was valued at £3m when he was on his way to Birmingham in August 2007. He didn't like Birminghams training methods and refused to train also talking trash about the other players. The deal didn't go trough.

I also think Spurs would be desperate to sell and will lower the price if we are interested.

I wouldn't be happy if Ghaly was our main midfield signing, but if we brought in a better central midfielder and then Ghaly as an option I think it would be a good move.

Vogel, Ghaly, ?, Dunn, Reid, Mokoena, Tugay and Emerton would give us plenty of options.

Nicko which club has come in for finnan?

Fulham eye Steve Finnan return

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson wants to bring back old boy Steve Finnan from Liverpool.

Finnan was a huge hero at Craven Cottage before he was sold to the Merseysiders. But the Ireland defender is on around £40,000-a-week and has over a year of a contract left to run.

Liverpool will sell him for around £2million.

Ghaly is a player who you either love or hate and is very much like Savage but with a bit more flair/skill. Ghaly does work hard when hes with the right people like at Derby where he was a little engine for them and Jewell knew how to handle him hence we never heard a peep out of him.

Ghaly dosen't have an attitude problem i believe he suffers from a lack of guidence and respect most notably from Jol who i think failed to realise how to use Ghaly effectivley or any other Spurs player effectively.

Ghaly brings energy and flair to the team which we despretley need as we thought Reid could give us the energy sadly he hasen't YET, but we had energy under Savage which we used to great effect i.e closing players down and covering the pitch and it also got the best out of our other players. Ghaly would bring the same and im pretty sure we'd be able to get the TALENT which he has got and get it out of him on a more consistent basis. If you think we don't need an energetic player in the middle then why did we play Emerton there? It was because we needed someone in their to cover the ground and give it to Vogel to pass.

Anything less that £2 million is a steal and i'd be happy if we got him.

i agree..anything under 2million id be happy with him

i was actually suprised he went on loan to derby-i thought he was better then that..

The fact he was prepared to go to Derby to get games suggests his attitude isn't as bad as people are making out.

I like him, and think he'd be a good signing at 2m or under.

The fact that he slagged off Big Clubs training and players when on the verge of joining them just puts him even higher in my estimations!

Any ideas on how much the Milner bid is? I would except £5m+

Newcastle need someone who can produce better quality delivery into the box.

Though the fans seem to want him to stay.

No idea about the fee but anything around £5 million and I'd snap their hands off.

His delivery into the box is awful but the biggest problem is lack of pace throughout the side, so if he does go I can see him being replaced by someone like Aaron Lennon.

Don't know if its true or not but:

Fulham, Newcastle and ourselves in for $5 million striker Altidore.

Youngster O'Keefe to join Blackpool on a free and Rigters to go back to Norwich on loan then 750k purchase.

Apparently Duff has put his house on the market now the is two rumors ive heard.

Been told to find a new club and Rovers, Spurs and Pompey want him for £5 million.

Bought some land near his current house and has plans to build a new house on that.

I'd want Duff back but i'd only part with less than £3 million, what do you guys think?
