Brownie Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Surely you're sat on quite a scoop at the moment given that you seem to be the only person in the media who thinks Ten Cate to the Greeks isn't a done deal. Why wait until Sunday and take the risk of someone else getting the lowdown first? Good point from the sceptical one !

Brownie Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 This sort of quote does worry me though Alan Ten Cate will be formerly introduced by Pana later this month but issued a short statement. "I'm delighted to have reached an agreement with Panathinaikos FC," he said.

"I'm delighted to have reached an agreement with Panathinaikos FC," he said. In my opinion it is just a verbal agreement and Henk is awaiting Rovers decision before putting pen to paper.

If he wants to go to Greece before talking to Rovers then we don't want him, if Nicko is right and the deal isn't done yet then there is nothing to worry about yet. We could always lure Tony Parkes back .....
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 ffan, reckon Bullard will be at Craven Cottage next season?

Blue n White Rover Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Nicko, the "killer line", is it good or bad news? Or can you not reveal that aswell?
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 My guess is that Nicko has gotten hold of some dodgey photos of Mr Cate on his hols, which would also explain why he knows he's still over there Also, Sunday is traditionally the biggest day for paper sales!!
John Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Nicko, remember Henk Cate does not always appear to know what he is talking about. Chelsea coach Henk Ten Cate: My job is safe
Roversider Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Nicko, remember Henk Cate does not always appear to know what he is talking about. Chelsea coach Henk Ten Cate: My job is safe Hmmm, he's gullible as well - who would trust Peter Kenyon? Sparky perhaps
Blue n White Rover Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Nicko, remember Henk Cate does not always appear to know what he is talking about. Chelsea coach Henk Ten Cate: My job is safe You can't blame the guy for that. If you've been told by the Chief Executive that your job is safe your going to take his word for it, instead of listening to the papers.
Hi Mack Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 My guess is that Nicko has gotten hold of some dodgey photos of Mr Cate on his hols, which would also explain why he knows he's still over there Also, Sunday is traditionally the biggest day for paper sales!! is it he cant take a job because compo hasnt been agreed with chelsea
John Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Well, he was hardly going to stay on at Chelsea after falling out with nearly all the players!!!!
Blue n White Rover Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Arnold Muhren former Ipswich and Man Utd, his views on Ten Cate
tonygreenbank Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 To be quite candid I find this whole anti-Allardyce scenario very tedious. I dont mind if he is appointed or not. If he is then he will have been the best man for the job according to the board. What I find irritating is that some posters who will have had no experience of football management pontificating on the ability of a guy who has had many years experience; most of it bringing success to one of our major rivals and who had the drive and intelligence to change the face of coaching styles and fitness, diet and the "science" of soccer. He transformed Bolton into a strong Prem outfit. His playing style was criticised but it brought results. The criticisms were mainly started by Wenger who I seem to remember had one or two words to say about our style. I was never aware that football had to be played in one particular way. His success brought him to the attention of a "big" club and he was only a whisker away from being given the England job. I would suggest that he has some talent in football management. The last club whose supporters were highly vocal of their manager being appointed were Bolton where Megson was given an horrendous reception. I was so pleased for him when he shut a lot of fans up and kept them in the Prem. If he does come then I will give him my full support. I know nothing of Ten Cate or Ince as possible managers but the same applies there; I cannot criticise what I dont know.

I can only assume you have never watched any of his Bolton or Newcastle teams play!
RevidgeBlue Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I'll be extremely relieved if reports linking HTC with Panathanikos are true. His appointment would be a disaster waiting to happen in my book. Re: the poster who says he met one of the players in Clitheroe last night, if indeed we do already have a dressing room of fed up players unhappy at Hughes' departure who want a British manager, would it not be wise to take heed of that?
hawkiiz Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I can only assume you have never watched any of his Bolton or Newcastle teams play! did you watch rovers play under hughes? it was not much better, but apparently he is God. why not try sam?

It's one thing pandering to the fans wishes- you certainly can't pander to players, most of whom haven't got an ounce of loyalty anyway.
cn_barlow Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 The think that struck me about the bbc article on Ten Cate was the guy praising Ten Cate as a tactition. This is something Hughes was balls at in my opinion.
Iceman Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Nicko,u dont have to many fans on the official board.so for your sake,i hope u right about ten cate.i know those guys on the official, and they are a hard to please bunch.but they do talk alot of sense.i cant believe after nearly a week,we have only interviewed bfs.that despite over 40 applicants having supposedly applied for the job.
