Here I thought we were allowed to voice our opinions. If you don't like people daring to question your messiah, then don't read their posts.

Why do you bother reading this thread if you don't like it?

Plenty of other threads to view and post in if your don't like this thread.

Why the need to act like a troll and post flamebait comments?

Never said I don't like it, you just make it sound like no one should dare question the almighty Nicko. He's given some interesting information and I find it good reading, if I agree or not (or I should say the part of it where people aren't cumming on themselves while praising him).

Why do you feel the need to jump up and down like a baby if someone dares to question things? You sound like Putin, for God's sake.

Well there is questioning and then there are personal attacks. I think most people on here are happy with good healthy debate - it's when it goes across the line that some of us get annoyed. I like the Putin comment BTW, especially from someone who lives in the "land of the free" - but that's another debate ;)

There’s a difference between posting a simple question or statement saying you disagree with Nicko and a blatantly obvious comment that’s been posted as flamebait in order to cause anger.

I was replying to Scotty's blatant ###### stirring post by pointing out a likely reason why Nicko cannot shed more details on the HTC situation until Sunday.

A few pages ago, he basically accused him of trying to rip us all off on betfair, and on a pretty flimsy basis at that. That's a little different from questioning someone. So is "Oh I suppose you need a day to make it up". It's a blatant troll.

Scotty's entitled to his opinion on Nicko and I'm not saying people shouldn't question the latter's post at all but we've been through all that already and Nicko's answered him each time. There's no need. In Ten Cate pops up in Greece wearing a Panithanikos shirt tomorrow everybody will be able to make up they're own minds.

This is Nicko`s own thread and as such nicko can pretty much post what he wants on a variety of subjects.

People have known this for the last 12 months or so and yet STILL continue to berate the man for feeding us snippets of info, and providing a bit of a clue as to how the football world works.

Whether people choose to believe Nicko on what he says,is entirely up to each individuals opinion.

It`s like people moaning about whats on tv to which the answer is the same,if you don`t like it don`t watch it!

Nicko is a journalist first and a BRFCS member second, he will have his reasons why we have to wait until Sunday to read about the HTC situation, he doesn't have to share any info that he has with us so we are grateful for what he does tell us.

If Nicko didn't post on this board then there would be all sorts of rumours going around at this time, at leat we have some clarification on what is happening with Rovewrs at the moment

Again, it is a messageboard with more members than just you. If you don't like what we say, just put us on ignore, or you don't read the thread. We could also just ask them to make it so only Nicko can post on this thread....

(and yes, I'm complaining about someone complaining about someone complaining)

I am Blackburn born and bred, but supported rovers because I liked playing/watching FOOTBALL. Call me an idealist, but if survival of the club is to be achieved by any means then it is against the whole founding pricipal of the club- with SKILL and hard work.

Over the years I've followed Rovers home and away, seen the likes of John Beck's Cambridge get results, Wimbledon, Bolton etc and it was awful to watch. If that's the route Rovers end up going down just to guarantee survival I won't be on the terraces watching it.

Do you think Ewood would be full under Allardyce, just because he's keeping Rovers in the Premiership? The fans will drift away en masse, but that's ok because the cash cow of the Premiership will keep the club alive. Will the likes of Bentley, Santa Cruz, Warnock et al want to stay and be associated with a dour style of football?

Actually that wasn't a founding principal, the motto was taken on sometime after the creation of the club and you sound like a Geordie in claiming quality of football is more important than results.

I wonder if you've even seen Blackburn play much in the past decade? Assumedly you'll have missed quite a few games given your claim that you "won't be on the terraces watching" if our style of play isn't pretty enough because let's face it, we have played a lot of boring football for a number of different reasons at different times. Sparky had us playing it at first to keep us in the premiership but of course you didn't see that. It was, undeniably, poor football (which lead to poor results) which saw us get relegated from the premiership to begin with but of course I guess you didn't see that either. I mean let's face it, we didn't start playing good football again until the last 6 months before we were promoted once more and then we reverted back to boring (but often effective) football to grind out results and stay in the league. It was always interspersed with matches in which we passed the ball beautifully and we were a delight to behold but this wasn't regular and as such was very much enjoyed and appreciated at the time.

Allardyce enjoyed relatively good attendances at the Reebok for a number of years when Bolton were renowned and hated by everyone (except their own fans who were delighted to be grinding out results as underdogs) for the "boring" style of play. Also, I'm pretty sure Newcastle maintained their sellout crowds throughout Allardyce's reign and despite their openly expressed disgust of his tactics. We football fans are a fickle breed, impressed mostly by results: if we see Rovers play a blinder against ManYoo and lose 1-0 to a dodgy/lucky goal we'll be proud of the lads but if we spend ninety minutes defending desperately and win the game 1-0 after scoring a controversial penalty then we'll be delighted to say how hard we worked and how much we deserved the win. As such I really do disagree with you and believe that the style of football will have much less of an effect on attendances than our results will. Can you honestly deny that we have ground out some positive results against Arsenal in particular thanks to the way their soft French coach has failed to teach them how to deal with a bunch of northern monkey's kicking them round the field? I also believe that "the likes of Bentley, Santa Cruz, Warnock et al" will want to stay and play in a winning team; paraphrased, they will want to leave a losing team.

A number of fans on here have already threatened to boycott games if Allardyce is appointed but they have stated their reasons for this as being his personality, attitude and controversial nature (not style of football or tactics).

The one true thing you have hinted at which I do agree with is that Ewood certainly will not be full under Allardyce except when we play the "big" clubs (Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United) but if our "boring" style of football hadn't kept you away for long periods of time throughout the last decade you would know this has been true for any manager. Don't get me wrong, I am not offering any opinion on Allardyce in this post, simply an opinion on what will affect our attendances and any manager (including Allardyce) will cause a reduction in attendances if they are losing games.

In a way I agree, in a way I don't. For most ardent fans, the results will be important. We need to attract the casual "fan" who might not be a Rovers supporter, but who wants to watch entertaining Premiership football at a good price. I can think of a lot of times where I cringed when we played Bolton on a Sunday, because both of us were playing negative and it was just proving to the casual fan that we weren't fun to watch.

That being said - I think Premiership survival is important over the next 5 years and would like to get in a manager who is capable of achieving that.

We're all grown ups and good heated debate is all part and parcel of that.

It's not a great place if people can't challange something they feel to be incorrect or just plain wrong.

We don't allow personal insults and keep as close an eye on things as we can. Lee is also paid to do his job, we're not ;)

No link but BBC gossip saying this:

Paul Ince will be confirmed as new Blackburn manager within the next few days. (Daily Mirror)

Could make sense as he pulled out of the Leicester job. If JW wants a British manager, then he is probably the only sane option in his eyes.

It is more of a personal decision, but I don't like the man. I also don't like the fact that he comes across like a piece and seems to say 'ya know' quite a bit.

I would be shocked if its a dead-cert but even if it is, I dont think its the end of the world as he is young and ambitious and I wouldnt exactly place him much lower than Hughes if at all in the reputation ladder, and in fact some would argue todays players know Paul Ince more than Mark Hughes...

Interesting couple of days.

Any truth in Laudrup in Manchester BS?

If the quality of football no longer matters, then what's the point?

What I would argue is that appointing a manager that tries to play entertaining football will retain what you may class as the 'part-timers' or 'purists' and you never know - it might not end up in us getting relegated, but actually become more successful on and off the pitch. Opting for a dour, points at all costs approach will most definitely alienate sections of the support.

Can I ask if you were around in the late sixties early seventies when the Rovers plunged from top of the First Division to the lower reaches of the Third? In the early sixties we had a team capable of playing the most attractive football you could ever wish to see. However, one bad season and we were out of the top flight and as long term decline set in the fans deserted the club in droves. It took 25 years to return to the top flight. I, for one, never want those days to return and I honestly believe that if we are ever relegated it could prove a one way trip to oblivion. The funding that Jack provided when we were relegated last time won't be there. That's the reason why I say that survival is vital not only for the Rovers but for most Premier League clubs.

As an aside the founding principal of the club was not skill and hard work. That was the town motto and certainly not adopted by the club until many, many years later. I seem to remember the club wore the town badge on the shirt in the 1960 FA Cup Final. When the club was founded the Rovers played a robust type of game and paid under the counter payments to pay Scottish players at a time when professionalism was illegal. The early pioneers of the club did whatever was neccessary to be successful.

The Ince for Blackburn story is plastered all over the back page of the Mirror. Yet the LET suggests that interviews are going on next week and an appointment won't be made until the end of next week. Everyday seems to bring a new rumour!

The Mirror story was depressing in that it said Ince would be given whatever cash the club could afford following the SALE of Bentley and Santa Cruz.

The prospect of an inexperienced manager being asked to replace our best two players and fill the gaps that Hughes had identified as in need of strengthening is not one that is going to create a feel good atmosphere around the club. Just hope it's the usual rubbish that the newspapers print.
