We could be onto something with this pm lark. Maybe to avoid future leaks Nicko only pm's those of us that haven't insulted him. It woud have a twofold benefit of only keeping us good guys in the loop and stopping Angry of Ancoats from getting upset about Nicko's posts!!! How about it then Nicko? ;-)

Personally however, as someone who enjoys football, I feel no committment to pay and watch football I do not appreciate.

It is almost endemic of society today that most people want success at all costs. As a teacher, I see kids growing up with this attitude and they are not bothered if they have to do illegal things or ruin nice things to achieve that. BRFC do alot of work with schools in the area. On the above basis, are football clubs the best role models for the youth of today?

So you would rather we repeated the achievements of the Newcastle teams of the mid/late 90s who arguably played better football than won nothing, to our title winning side (not an unattractive side but much more successful)?!

PLEASE...for the umpteenth time, DON'T bet on this market.

Nobody knows who is getting it. They haven't interviewed all of the current candidates yet and there are bound to be massive twists.

Scolari turned into a coup, but could easily have gone wrong. That was different because it was a two-horse race for a few days and the prices did NOT reflect that.

LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE.

For those of you thinking of putting money on Ten Cate for the Rovers job, the rest of the sporting world seem to think he's gone to Greece.

Based on one quote.

Anyone seen the pictures of him in Greece yesterday?

Exactly why laying Allardyce and Ince at odds on is a wise move.

Perhaps it's us teachers who are the only idealists around. I want success for my kids but I also want them to enjoy learning and finding out about things, whereas the kids see success in terms of how much cash they can get their hands on, by whatever means possible. the only value of learning something is "What will it get me in economic terms?" However, don't knock Rovers' education programme. they do a very good languages day and a lot of the work they do with the kids is about trying to get them to see the value of learning.

From what I see HTC is only popular on this site. Maybe the term 'rip-snorter' should have been used by the LT and the official board to promote TC. :rover:

Oh, so he's not actually there or signed...

How strange.

He is, however, quoted as saying that he has signed.

"I’ m delighted to have reached an agreement with Panathinaikos FC. In my career I have been used to working at the highest level of competition and that’s one of the reasons why I consider this new step to be a great challenge. Panathinaikos’ organization, history, ambition and attitude towards football in general match those of the greatest football clubs in Europe, so I’ m confident that we will achieve our goals. I’ m looking forward to coming to Athens and meeting my players"

Keep up. That quote was put out on Friday morning before 12. Meanwhile in Barbados Henk Ten Cate was in his bed, well aware that his Rovers chances had just soared before he had his nightcap.

Still, you know best.

No offence to nicko but I don't think they will have egg on their face tomorrow. One journalist saying he's in Barbados and hasnt signed and wants the Rovers job would just be dismissed with all these agencies and organisations reporting otherwise (of course we know why that is but still). And if Rovers don't pick him chances are the misinformation would still go unnoticed.

It's only if he joins Rovers that they'll have egg on their faces and I'd imagine its only then that nicko being the first to break that news would get noticed.

Could he not have supplied the quote before he had his nightcap and went to bed?

Why would he take a job he was offered a week earlier and been stalling on waiting for Rovers to come into view...a couple of hours after they just had?

Why did he not sign for Panathinaikos when he met them originally a week before rather than go on holiday and leave it unsigned?

The fog may lift eventually.

There were more 'entertaining' games in 94/95 than non-entertaining games. The top European sides don't play superbly every week. It is about going out with the intent of playing an attractive, entertaining game, as opposed to going out to 'spoil' the oppositions game. That statement of intent should be a pre-requisite for any football club/manager IMO.
