an observation on the nicko -v- scotty debate ..... if this was two ordinary board members, the mods (some more than others) would have been all over this lke flies round ######, as it is between (in the blue corner) nicko and (in the red corner) scotty there don't want to seem to get involved.

strange that .....

Ian Richardson (House of Cards) .......... You may say that fblue........ but I couldn't possibly comment. -_-

Alternatively two weeks or so ago that could have read..........

!Why would he (Mark Hughes) take a job he was offered a week earlier and been stalling on waiting for Chelsea to come into view...a couple of hours after they just had?

Why did he not sign for Man City when he met them originally a week before rather than go on holiday and leave it unsigned?

The fog may lift eventually.

What goes around, come around eh?

I don't think there's a comparison.

Hughes would not have taken Man City if he thought he had any chance of Chelsea. He was snubbed by Chelsea and took Man City 24 hours later.

If Ten Cate had been told 'no thanks, Henk' he would have signed for Panathinaikos. That isn't the case here.

If I remember correctly he was hoping to be well positioned if Chelsea made the call. They didn't.

I'm not really sure how you think this is comparable. Are you saying that Chelsea did come in for Hughes, but he signed for Man City anyway? Or that HTC hasn't had a call and neither did Hughes?

Sparky waited for a call. It didn't come. He went with the backup.

HTC waited for a call. It did come. That makes it different.

I think we could use lots of 'allegedy's' there Toogs. All I pointed out was the possible similarities of the speculations.

It's been an 'enlightening' couple of weeks to find out we have a Setanta worker, a Betfair forum poster, an official board poster and suspicions of a couple pinging lines to the nationals and maybe even the local paper.

Might as well cut out the middle man and out it on Sky myself?

Not sure 'enlightening' is the right word - I've never felt it necessary to hide the fact that I work for Setanta and have even posted direct links to stories on our site.

As a Rovers fan who has been coming on this site long before I was in gainful employment and before Nicko was a poster, I feel I need to set the record straight on this one.

Though Nicko's posts have been a great addition to this board and have provided me and others with an insight, I've never done stories off the back of them. Whether the same is true of Sky and the LT you'd have to ask them.

Scotty's assertion that I was towing Nicko's line yesterday was wrong as well.

My statement in the Ten Cate story that Panathinaikos also claimed that they'd done a deal with Laudrup may corroborate the point Nicko was making about the validity of the latest story but it's also evident that we got duped before and reported Laudrup's move to Pana as a done deal some weeks ago.

It is a fact that a lot of foreign club websites are less reputable than English ones.

Are you Charlotte Jackson? And if so, can I poke you?

Maybe but weren't Hughes and Kenyon using the City situation in an attempt to force the Russian's hand?

One things for sure, whatever happens I hope Ten Cate IS in the running for the job. He is still the only one that excites me (in a purely footballing sense!).

Nope, but I've got a funny story about her.

She recently split up with her boyfriend (okay, that bit's not so funny) and Caleb Folan, the Hull striker, was quickly onto the scene, texting her and asking her out.

With him being a Premier League footballer she was interested naturally, but when she googled him and found a picture, she was less inclined!

You do now realise that in 5 minutes Nicko's story will probably be plastered on the Betfair forum and that'll be the end of his participation on this site.

I think Mr Nicko has worked out who is trustworthy.

At least I hope so.

God this is exciting !

This is dreadful. I daren't go away totally (although I am working on something else at the same time as browsing here), in case I miss something but it is getting very tedious going round and round in circles ove Ten Cate. Oh for some real news even if it's bad.

If Nicko sold that story to the Sunday People, would that be ironic?

Nicko,

Out of interest how is this comparing to when Hughes was appointed. Is infomation harder to come by? At this stage last time did you have a clearer idea as to the appointment, had Hughes emerged as the strong front runner by now?

Allardyce was the earlier strong front runner until Blackburn's 5th columnists got to work on the 'less cerebral' amongst the supporters with an internet campaign using lies, more lies and damned lies.

I never told lies about Allardyce and why would I respond to the ten Cate comment? I don't know enough about the guy to be other than neutral to his possible appointment and I don't find myself either attracted to him or repelled by him physically. If he's appointed fair enough. If he's not then fair enough. I've already told you that apart from an unreasonable and personal dislike of Allardyce (based on nothing other than what I see of him on tv or at a distance at the ground, as I've never met the guy) I have no real preference as to who we appoint as I don't know enough about it.

Why can't people just wait until tomorrow? If we get to the process of sending information through PM's its bound to eventually get leaked out.

At least you'd know who might be doing the leaking! Maybe Nicko should PM every poster over a period of a few weeks with random false stories and see which ones get out ;)

HTC waited for a call. It did come.

Well, according to nicko it did, but even if it did, acording to the rest of the sporting world he nevertheless turned us down and agreed to go to Greece instead.

Not saying it is impossible that what nicko says on this point can be right but I will be mightily impressed if he is correct in this instance.

Meanwhile, back to the Mirror, they seemed quite adamant today that Ince was on the verge of agreeing a three year contract and would be appointed next week. :):tu:

And that we would try to give him as much as we could from the sales of Bentley (valued at 10m) and RSC (valued at 15m) in order to keep the team "competitive".

Rather novel way of keeping your team competitive, selling your best players.

Nicko, if there was nothing at all in this story and they had an alternative version sat on their desk from you, one of their best contributors, why would they run it, knowing it to be tenuous at best?

Is it not possible a lot of the nitty gritty could have been sorted out behind the scenes with Ince's agent etc?

I like the possible appointment of Ince but hate the having to sell players to raise funds bit.

Does this not indicate the 10m mooted to be available to Hughes to freshen up the squad has mysteriously vanished into the mist? Could it be a reason for Shearer and HTC distancing themselves from the role?

Can I ask anymore questions in one post? Sorry!

Methinks she doth protest too much ;)...... I never said you were a 5th columnist gumboots.

As to the you and Jan bit gumboots. It was a meant to be humerous. I gues you'll just have to get a man to explain the concept to you.

I'd rather not compare this one with that one...because I was sure Dowie was getting it!
