nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 If I'm reading you right Nicko, you don't sound terribly optimistic that Ten Cate is going to be able to square things away with Chelsea...? What's the odds on him even being interviewed, 50:50? I'm hearing that the agent doing the Panathinaikos move, a Dutchman called to Siggi Lens, makes alot of money if he pulls off the Panathianikos deal. Makes me think. There is another agent trying to get him to Rovers...before you ask. Ten Cate simply has to sort out his Chelsea dough in a hurry to get his interview. It's not an ideal scenario and time is not on his side. Frankly, the best hope here is that Rovers realise some of the current candidates are less than ideal and make an effort to sort out Ten Cate's issue. I know what I would do...
revolutionrock! Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 So Ten cate is not the manager of Pana yet? People on another football board i visit are stating he has and are posting numerous links to articles, in the independent etc
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 So Ten cate is not the manager of Pana yet? Ten Cate will be the manager of Panthinaikos on July 1 if he is not intercepted by someone first.
Baggio Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl...%3Den%26tl%3Dru Lots of love, NE5. Thanks James.
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 And that is???? If it was me I would find out where Ten Cate is landing after he comes back from his holiday. Go to the airport, sit him down, look him in the eye, forget the jet lag, ask him straight 'do you want his job?' and 'what could you do for us?' If you like him, you offer him the job, you call Chelsea - I'm sure they have their number - and tell them straight. It strikes me that efforts are being made to bend rules for inferior candidates and yet the best one is being allowed to sort out his own affairs. Sort it out for him! This CAN be done. I know of players being flown in by one club to sign and being hijacked at airports. I remember Souey booting the hamper after the Scottish Cup final and swearing to sign Mo Johnson despite the fact he had 'already agreed' to go to Celtic. If you want something in this world you can and get it. Or at least give it a best shot...
thenodrog Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 At the moment things look so bleak I'd be happy with the new man simply preventing half the side from wallking out let alone signing new players. They are on contracts Simon.
vintageadidas Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 With the £5.5m received from the departure of about 20 staff with Hughes to Citeh and the wage he was on anyways, surely we can offer a very, very good wage to a very good candidate. We should be choosing who we want at the end of the day - we are a top 7 club, with good players and a great board. Why have we gone through the process of sifting through CV's, citeh didnt when they wanted Hughes. We want Bilic, Laudrup, Advocaat go out and get them!
leftfooter Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Probably Boothroyd, his name has been mentioned. Ince, BFS, McClaren, HTC, Boothroyd. If that is the case then I vote for 'None of The Above'. Change Boothroyd to Martinez then - it's still none of the above. I am depressed. Get them all on the touchline kitted up with BFS style headmicrophones, should make great Take That reunion style pitch side entertainment
revolutionrock! Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Nicko, they are all adamant that he has signed for them! But I stress to them that it isn't a formal deal yet! Am i right in saying this?
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I know where he has been, where he is now and where he is going. I'm not bothered about any Greek version of events here. If you believed what was out there in the public domain. Ince has NOT met Rovers. Big Sam has NOT met Rovers. Shearer said NO to an interview. Now, we know all those three are balls too...

What time does his flight land ? And which airport ??
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 What time does his flight land ? And which airport ?? I can provide that info if needed...
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 So is this all down to the reported mixed feeling on the board about the money we should be spending on the next manager? Some of those on the board who want to take the cheapest option possible? We got almost £5 million for Hughes for god sake, get the best man available and if that means we have to use that Hughes money so be it. Its stupid to go for someone inferior because they are cheaper. We are talking about our survival in the league here.
Torgeir Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Go to the airport, sit him down, look him in the eye, forget the jet lag, ask him straight 'do you want his job?' and 'what could you do for us?' Please do this with Bentley too. Cover his big mouth with a sticker saying 'Do not open until Christmas'. If anyone can find a big enough sticker that is...
RevidgeBlue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 There is another agent trying to get him to Rovers...before you ask. You wouldn't be the pr part of that team would you nicko? Apologies in advance as I know that sort of accusation has been wrongly levied at you before, but I don't understand why you are pushing him so hard. Also, am I being unkind in saying that you are backtracking on this now? I previously understood you to be saying that he had definitely made arrangements for an interview at Ewood this week? Wednesday wasn't it?

broadsword Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Yeah, Friday night apparently, he phoned Rovers to arrange an interview, before Panathaniokos stated that he had signed for them ...
Torgeir Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Let me tell you, if I was earning on this the thing would be done. Hijack HtC at the airport and say you'll represent him then!
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Yeah, Friday night apparently, he phoned Rovers to arrange an interview, before Panathaniokos stated that he had signed for them ... To recap... Ten Cate has been in contact with Rovers since the job came up. He was only called to make arrangements for an interview on THURSDAY night...a few hours later he was supposedly signing for Panathinaikos when: 1 - he can't sign for anyone until he sorts out his payment with Chelsea. 2 - he is not due to start work and sign with Panathinaikos until July 1. Time is of the essence here. But, hey, if you want one of the guys who you have spoken to...carry on.
Craigman Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Why has Billy Davies just appeared on the betting markets at low odds ? http://www.oddschecker.com/football/footba...ackburn-manager
