Sandiway Blue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Like thenodrog said, if it was a viable type of option, Friedel would be a lot better shout in that respect. I must admit if we were in the chumpionship he would be worth taking the chance, but definitely not whilst we are a `top ten` side in the Premiership. Just seems a little strange for him to enter the betting at this stage?

robborover Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Elie Baup - No idea who this man is, but apparently he wants the job...
RevidgeBlue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Just seems a little strange for him to enter the betting at this stage? Is it not just a ruse to relieve a few mug punters of their cash?
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Have we got to the bottom of the rules on that? How come he can manage at MK Dons and Macclesfield? The Premier League demand that you have a UEFA coaching badge. This was watered down by Glenn Roeder and Gareth Southgate being given special dispensation - on a vote - to work in the Premier League. Roeder did not do his badges because he had been ill. Southgate has just started. The Premier League have told Blackburn to tell Ince that he needs to get signed up for some sort of coaching course. So far Ince hasn't even had a lesson...but he is going to watch a course in Wales on Wednesday. Hmm. If you want to boss Macclesfield and MK Dons the only badges you need are for the car park.
j166429 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Nicko, can you give us any clues as to what the hitch/snag/turn in events is concerning the take-over?
socngill Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I'd gladly give Brad the role. He is a very intelligent man who understands the game, the club and is well respected (certainly at the club and in the UK - not sure about abroad though?). As for badges, since when has that ever been an issue? Pearce, Southgate? the PL were prepared to allow Shearer to have the job without them and i'm sure they'd give Ince the go-ahead. It makes a mockery of the whole system, but then that's the PL for you...
Ronin Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Elie Baup - No idea who this man is, but apparently he wants the job... Could be the mystery fifth man?
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Nicko, can you give us any clues as to what the hitch/snag/turn in events is concerning the take-over? Yes, but I'm waiting on a couple of bits of info to make sure that certain events are significant and genuine. My head's bursting with that one too. I should maybe just stick to be an agent's helper or a manipulator of bookies markets...
RevidgeBlue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Could be the mystery fifth man? I think nicko said that is/was Martinez.
Lurid Coat Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Sorry, I suspect the fifth is/was Roberto Martinez. Which means the shortlist consists of BFS, Ince, McClown, Martinez and HTC - probably the worst manager shortlist since the birth of time. The only one I'd want at Ewood is HTC, the rest ranges from "average at best" to "absolutely tw@tting horrible". What a terrific statement of intent that shortlist is. Penetrate me sideways, this really made my day.
Pugg Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I should maybe just stick to be an agent's helper or a manipulator of bookies markets... Do you just do Dan Williams PR stuff part time these days?
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Do you just do Dan Williams PR stuff part time these days? No, I found it didn't pay enough.
RevidgeBlue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Something that often occurs to me, has anyone seen anything on the internet recently about Dan Williams other legitimate business interests? Still that same bloomin' college graduation type snap whenever anyone refers back to him.
spencey7 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I think everybody with more than one functioning brain cell is in agreement - If it's not Ten Cate (and I don't think it will be) - then we're f**ked. Can't believe Michael Laudrup was never on the list. And I know people like Bilic and Advocaat may be unrealistic, but what's the harm in trying?? The "ambition" shown by the board here is laughable. Apart from Ten Cate, the list comprises two proven-failure laughing-stocks and two Second Division managers. WE'RE THE SEVENTH-BEST TEAM IN ENGLAND!
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Several posters have requested that I find out what's happening with Michael [brian] Laudrup. I've not been ignoring you, but I have had a shocking waste of time trying to track his agent down. I contacted the number on his website and it rang out, I rang his FIFA mobile number and the guy who answered said it wasn't his phone, I called his Luxembourg office again and was put on to his assistant, who was nice and gave me his office number in Barcelona. I spoke to a rather camp chap [is it Kingsley's day job?] and he said that the agent would call me back...but he knew nothing of Blackburn Rovers and Laudrup. Don't say we don't try at this end. And you thought we spent all day in the boozer making this stuff up.
USABlue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 And here he is, just for gumboots: http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html What I find amusing is that the reporter blames the new owner for BFS' demise, no mention of the fact that Newcastle were spiralling down after BFS' investment of over 20Mil. One of Sam's "buddies"?
BlueMonday Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 If it was me I would find out where Ten Cate is landing after he comes back from his holiday. Go to the airport, sit him down, look him in the eye, forget the jet lag, ask him straight 'do you want his job?' and 'what could you do for us?' Paris CDG, sometime today ??
roversmum Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 WE'RE THE SEVENTH-BEST TEAM IN ENGLAND! We WERE the seventh-best team in England..............
speeeeeeedie Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 At this point I'd be happy with either Allardyce or McClaren. They're both proven. McClaren ball$ed it up with England but he does have plenty of contacts and his coaching skills are top notch. Allardyce is a bit shifty but kept Bolton running, and Newcastle weren't going down; as much as I wanted them too. Sell Bentley for more than what he's worth, Roque too if someone asks. The new bloke will get some cash to play with and hopefully won't spend silly money on sh!te. It's a bit of a circus really. I do have to say that the board has lost some of its lustre lately. Everything is hanging on nicko's words. I've no problem with the info, but it's taken any decent debate away from other threads.

I certainly see Brad as a manager too, but not while he's still playing.
USABlue Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/footballnat...91466-21076630/ Good for him, quite refreshing have to give him respect for that stance.

It is only because the impending managerial position is probably top of everyone`s agenda, once that is sorted we should see a return to discussing other topics.
socngill Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I certainly see Brad as a manager too, but not while he's still playing. Player manager. If somebody isn't doing what he wants he can wait until a corner and give them a right ear full!
