Bazzanotsogreat Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I am seriously astonished that the board have even interviewed Mclown. What has he done in his managerial carer to suggest he is even a decent manager? If he gets the Job then im afraid it is time for the Trust to sell up asap & Mr Williams to follow. I could have put up a better list of realistic candidates than Mclaren , BFS & Ince. A very bad couple of weeks have got even worse with the news that the wolly with the brolly has got within a handshakes distance of the managers Job. This news makes me plead with the BFS option; and he was about my 5th choice out of about 10.

Roversider Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 A minor detail on why Chelsea want to stop Ten Cate working in England. This is from one of my moles around that way. The high-ups see this in a three-fold way... ONE - to save themselves some money on Ten Cate who was brought in on a big contract from Ajax and then bumped. Their refusal to settle the full amount with him also applies to his Panathinaikos option. He has been told he will get a settlement of a sort if he goes to Greece, but NOT if he stays in England. TWO - some of those within the club who pushed for Ten Cate to be appointed and then stay would score brownie points if he did well on their doorstep...one guy in particular. THREE - they are just awkward tw@ts. Chelsea have no style or honesty so is this a surprise? Question is would Rovers be prepared to sweeten the deal for Ten Cate or more importantly would he want the job enough to swallow the loss or see Chelsea in court? They can't stop him taking any job unless he agrees to a settlement which requires such a clause. He would really rub their noses in it if he came to Ewood and then we did Chelsea some harm on the pitch. Would have thought that would be a real motivator for him.

daren Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Sigi Lens, agent working on Henk Ten Cate, said last night: "Monster, monster. Henk's going to Greece and I'm getting £300,000, so tell that Blackburn Rovers mob to do one." In all seriousness, do you think anyone is going to admit that they are keeping prospective employers hanging on while they [a] sort out a hashed pay-off with Chelsea and flutter their eyes at someone else? I laughed quite a lot at that! I've been reading this thread, which is proceeding apace, and am dismayed by the sniping that's gotten worse - Scotty, we are all aware of your opinions on nicko's information, repeating it endlessly is adding roughly a page a day to the thread. Add it to your sig or something and then just comment on the issues. nicko's clearly either tired or stressed or both, he doesn't usually rise to any baiting (and there's been a fair bit). And everyone who starts shouting at scotty are just as bad - without it there's be about 5 pages a day less stuff, giving us some hope of wading through it Moving along, will ten Cate interview anyway without having the money issues resolved at Chelsea? He must have at Pana, surely, so I can't imagine that it would stop him interviewing at Rovers. They can then make the decision as to whether it is worth pursuing the issue in light of the Chelsea issues. This seems a fair approach to me, given that Henk's only back from Barbados today, a Wednesday meeting gives him a day to prepare and travel. As for the other candidates, I'm increasingly unimpressed with Ince - if he wanted the job he'd be enrolled in a course already surely Edit: no, I won't use the ignore tool - I appreciate nicko's info, so ignoring him's not an option Scotty usually makes good well thought out points (on other threads at the moment) and I can't ignore by thread, so I won't ignore him!

bringdunnback Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 How about 10pm tonight then nicko, I'm willing to negotiate.

nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 How about 10pm tonight then nicko, I'm willing to negotiate. No, I fancy a bit of chasing round the wrong airports again tomorrow... Give me my fun.
Blackburn Ender Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 It's going to be a straight choice between BFS & WWTB. In our current situation (not much money, owners want to sell, it's Blackburn, not Barcelona) those two are probably where we're at. English, experienced, out of work, prepared to spend three years restoring their reputations. Ince is too much of a gamble. Ten Cate isn't coming to Rovers. Trust me. Sadly, people like Laudrup & Bilic aren't either. Unless JW is better than I think (and I do rate him highly) and the Rovers job is more attractive worldwide than I think.
liam Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 No, I fancy a bit of chasing round the wrong airports again tomorrow... Give me my fun. so he has to fly in then, any more?
nicko Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 so he has to fly in then, any more? There are airports in Europe too...
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Hopefully not. We can do without Mister Ditherer wandering around on the touchline.
