j166429 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Jus t want a quick opinion on the board members. Under Souness our main priority was to survive in the Premiership. However, under Hughes our main target was to get in to Europe. So, I was just wondering what you targets would be next season. Would you be happy if we survived or disappointed we didnt make Europe? I was a big Hughes fan, but having taken time to reflect, I think that the Rovers underachieved a great deal last season. Looking at the team (on paper) and the results that we had, I think there were a lot of "missed opportunities" not to mention our dour performance in the cups. I think the last game of the season sums everything up! I think that the ship needs to be steadied (transfers ins and outs) and then we can hopefully go on from there.
AJW Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 this mystery target , are we to assume he is already in a job ..after all there was nothing mysterious about allardyce or mclarens interview as they were "available" it was reported in every paper and website and sports channel going if not why keep it a secret
dannyboy1206 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 BFS would make a good father Christmas!!! More like The Grinch !
gumboots Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I want a top half finish. I want to finish above spurs and city and definitely West Ham. I'd like just for once to beat west Ham. I'd like to beat one of the big 4 at ewood. I'd like to see my team score 5 goals in a match. I haven't got a longer term ambition. If we get into europe great but if we finish top half and still don't I'd have to be satisfied for next season. I'd like first and foremost a manager we can respect and enjoy seeing at ewood and if we get that a lot of the rest of my wish list will happen. And it's not like waiting for Christmas because there you know at least some of it will be good even if it doesn't all go well. But this is more like waiting for the dentists; it could well be very painful indeed. (although I had a root canal job done last week and hardly felt a thing)

HTC not great as a coach. And Ronald Koeman was better he says.... Check out RK here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Koeman OK so not great at Valencia but that is one cracking CV. And he is immediately available. And presumably well connected. Is the bright future Orange?
iamarover Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi I’m new on this forum, although I was a regular on BRFCS many years ago before poacher Lee turned gamekeeper. I’m a little concerned by the noble scribe’s morbid interest in HTC. I live in NL and the general feeling over here is that he is not really up to it. He was the manger at my local club Vitesse for a while, but didn’t impress (Koeman was much better) and he also played for and managed the local amateur team F.C. Rheden. At Ajax they though he was terrible. I notice that someone has copied a comment from me onto one of the other forums that I posted on the LET message board. As I say, he is at best a nr 2. and a coach for the strikers at that. I know JW is supposed to be on the Continent today, and it may well be Amsterdam, but I hope that Rovers have already decided on the new manger, hopefully Laudrup and are now interviewing possible assistants e.g. Ince, McClaren, Ten Cate ?? Danny Boy. What do you reckon to old Ronald coming to Ewood? Could he do a job? CV is impressive.
broadsword Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 The way things are going we're going to end up with Ronald McDonald ...
thecomebackid Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Danny Boy. What do you reckon to old Ronald coming to Ewood? Could he do a job? CV is impressive. BFS or Ronald "MacDonald' Koeman; either way, Greggs will be doing a roaring trade
gumboots Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 The way things are going we're going to end up with Ronald McDonald ... Rather that clown than the other.
Fife Rover Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Who invited the villa fan? Don't be like that! Tom's been around on here for a while now, and all are welcome (as long as they behave themselves).
Fife Rover Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Two flights already landed in Vienna from the UK this morning. Bad Tatzmannsdorf where Croatia are based isn't that far away. I'm wishing it to happen Have you not checked the passenger lists? Tut tut! Should have done that before reporting back to here.
Hi Mack Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Next season is going to be shaky as hell, get ready for a wild and stomach churning ride. We might as well just go for the title! Depends who we get BFS or someone else. The league is easily winnable i mean we DO have about 8 million to spend! Back to Reality....................10th will be an achivement considering Hughes Bentley and maybe Cruz going!
DannyKeg Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Ronald Koeman was good at Vitesse but he had money to spend and Van Hooijdonk knocking in the goals, also remember the Dutch league is about the same level as the SPL. Valencia was perhaps a step too far for him. Of course Rijkard is also out of job and he would be OK and Advocat has experience. But my preference would be Laudrup, I watched a bit of the Gatafe UEFA cup quarter final against Bayern and they played lovely football and scored good goals, they only lost due to a hoorendous goalkeeping error. I know that managers bring their back room staff with them, but in my dreams, Laudrup has already accepted and JW has asked him if he would take on an english assitant with PL experience, e.g. Ince, McClaren, Davis ? etc. it would be a way for ince to get into the PL as a coach and give him time to get his badges or it would give McClaren a way back into the game and whatever we think about him, he was a good nr. 2 at Man U. (but its just a dream).
vyeo Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Unrelated, and I don't know where to put it, so please feel free to move it around as the mods see fit. Just for some casual reading... (to take our minds off the manager issue for a minute) I don't imagine the city fans will be too happy... and it gives a great indication of what Hughes has got himself into... http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2008/06/17...rt_30075749.php

I keep changing my mind but ML HTC and Billic have to be the front runners if they dont want the job fair enough then we'll have to look at Ince BFS etc but if you dont ask you dont get! JW i trust you.......................just!
Tom 1 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Who invited the villa fan? B.R.F.C I have a passing interest in the club based on someone I know. As for the mystery club in for Zigic, doubt it's us, was reading the lists of teams people were putting down.
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 When is Mr Nixon going to return to save us all from this Corrie/Zigic hell that has even become too much for Roversmum?
Tom 1 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Doesn't seem like a Keegan player, but suppose they needed a new target guy being as Viduka dies every fortnight.
