yoda Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Thats the only name I can think of outside of the UK who would be terrible and interested in the post. Does anybody have any other names that could seriously have been considered? Really, What about Eric Cantona, Then the ###### really would hit the fan

my_name_is_Earl Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Really, What about Eric Cantona, Then the ###### really would hit the fan Wouldn't Cantona be able to bring in some big names with his reputation. Our staff would consist of martial arts experts which I feel would only improve our disciplinary problems. Just a thought for everyone really, would JW really fly out to Europe to meet such a bad name. Jiminy Cricket, if that was true, it shows you what he thinks of his shortlist?

The poetry would go down the pan though!

promoted2001 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Our staff would consist of martial arts experts which I feel would only improve our disciplinary problems. Chuck Norris?
AndyC Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Allardyce would be a trillion times worse than McClaren. in your opinion. i'd be happy with sam. he certainly has something to prove now!
malk Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 That "bloody good reason" would be cold, hard cash. The parsimony of the trust/board is killing the club. Laudrup maybe but isn't Bilic on something silly like 130K a year (how does he feed himself?). Surely we can offer them something they'd take. Plus, how many jobs are there that will pay more than we will at the moment? Thinking about it, surely Getafe can't have paid Laudrup that much? Thinking about it more, did you mean transfer funds, because that is obviously fair enough.
my_name_is_Earl Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Is anyone else now at the stage where we will accept whoever as the new gaffer just so that we can get some stability behind the scenes before the summer transfer rush? I'm getting there but WwB would seriously push that......
novella Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 completely ignore mcclarens international record and he's not too shabby at club level. he would have to lose his defensive approach with us though.
Mc Love Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 As long as its not Paul Ince, earl then i honestly dont mind
bats Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Nicko do you have any update on the takeover situation?
my_name_is_Earl Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 As long as its not Paul Ince, earl then i honestly dont mind Just out of interest, why would that be? I haven't made my mind up about him yet and I'm just looking for reasons whether to like him or not.
Mc Love Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Prob better to keep in the nickos takeover thread. So as not to get mixed up
madrover Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I don't think anybody could be worse than brain kidd? or woy hodgson! both were a disaster!!
Mc Love Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I dont like him, and i dont think he would bring anything good to club, seeing that he hasnt had a great history with the club.
John Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 A lot of people within football don't like Paul Ince.........
my_name_is_Earl Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I dont like him, and i dont think he would bring anything good to club, seeing that he hasnt had a great history with the club. That's fair enough really. I could forgive him for wht he said if he could bring success but I just can't see how he would be able to handle our current playing staff. If he's not got the badges, god knows what qualifications his staff have?!
novella Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 A lot of people within football don't like Paul Ince......... he has good ties with inter milan though, might get some decent loan players for us.
S15 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 he has good ties with inter milan though I particularly like this one...
promoted2001 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Ince Pros: Done well at clubs his managed, was a very good footballer back in the day Cons: No coaching badges, some bad remarks about Blackburn in the past, We'd be a stepping stone, no experience above league 2 BFS Pros: Did well at a bad club (notlob), a few good purchases in his time Cons: Newcastle, Quite a few bad bits of business, won nothing, boring tactics, was manager of notlob McClaren Pros: Former England manager, good cup runs, his actually won something , Did ok at a poor club (boro) Cons: England, he looks like a wally in the rain, seemed to freeze up under pressure, England, Quite poor in the transfer market, Did I mention England? The choice is ours!
spencey7 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 he has good ties with inter milan though, might get some decent loan players for us. Good lord, we really are clutching at straws with this shortlist aren't we?? Can't see Nicko's reason for not giving us this infamous "new" name - Is it to prevent other newspapers scooping the story? Please don't be holding back because you don't want to disappoint us Nicko, I can assure you absolutely no-one will surprise us after the week we've had.
