Ince

Pros: Done well at clubs his managed, was a very good footballer back in the day

Cons: No coaching badges, some bad remarks about Blackburn in the past, We'd be a stepping stone, no experience above league 2

BFS

Pros: Did well at a bad club (notlob), a few good purchases in his time

Cons: Newcastle, Quite a few bad bits of business, won nothing, boring tactics, was manager of notlob

McClaren

Pros: Former England manager, good cup runs, his actually won something  , Did ok at a poor club (boro)

Cons: England, he looks like a wally in the rain, seemed to freeze up under pressure, England, Quite poor in the transfer market, Did I mention England?

The choice is ours!

He wont be under that much pressure at rovers...we will be expecting him to fail.

Good lord, we really are clutching at straws with this shortlist aren't we??

Can't see Nicko's reason for not giving us this infamous "new" name - Is it to prevent other newspapers scooping the story?

Please don't be holding back because you don't want to disappoint us Nicko, I can assure you absolutely no-one will surprise us after the week we've had.

well said Spencey7, my own thoughts completely. Would be nice to know just so we can at least make an informed choice with the already poor shortlist. At least then we'd have all the potential names, so no surprises.

Don't take Paul so seriously Alan. He becomes the board equivalent of Marvin the Paranoid Android when Black Dog occasionally turns up at his side. Look on the bright side and rememeber that the last time but one when England were looking for a new manager two of our candidates were 1st and 2nd choice by the FA. :tu::unsure:

Anyway.......... I doubt the kid can afford to watch lower division football.

All I'm sayimg is the appointment of Ince, McClaren or Allardyce will leave me totally unimpressed adn I'm hoping the club are going to come up with the unexpected. That would be exciting the other three represent bland, safety first; Hughes was an exciting appointment. I shall still turn up but my expectations will be low.

The reason I am not putting this name in the public domain is that I am worried I am being given a bum steer. The guy is so poor it's hard to take in, so I will just leave it alone for fear of:

1 - a Betfair frenzy.

2- a Daily Mail back page.

3 - a denial.

That's about as close as I can get to humour today, I am thoroughly cheesed by some events.

Oh, how very depressing. I thought the fact that JW was flying somewhere would suggest that it'd be a good candidate.

I do hope this is a ploy to get a paper to write how crap the candidate is, and then Nicko will do an amazing story that will rock the world! Something along the lines of Bilic.

I know, I know, I am dreaming too, but I just can't accept it yet.

Nicko, I don't understand. If you actually know this "mystery candidate" that JW flew out to meet, why not let us know, or give a hint? I don't get your reasoning, you just seem to be creating mass hysteria

EDIT: whoops, sorry, just read your post!

Surely can't be that bad Nicko?

This is getting beyond a joke for Rovers. Our only hope of a decent manager in Ten Cate and we cant even sort a bloody interview out with the guy.

I still blame John Terry!!

Or how about PMing those of us you trust? Though I do get the feeling that you've had a very bad day and possibly cant be arsed with the situation any more

I knew the chairman was going somewhere...my eyes lit up...now they are dimmed.

dont know why every one is so defeatist. yes the short list is crap on paper. but you never know one of them might be a revelation for us. hughes' record was decent but there were performances in there and substitutions that left us all scratching our heads. we have the players to fight in the top half of the premiership, the new manager should be able to spur them on but the players should be good enough to get the job done. we need a name that will be able to keep our bigger players. i personally think ince and allardyce would be able to hold onto them.
