Brownie, i went to one of my local bookies and they hadnt any odds but rang up and got me some elsewhere. got the incredible 'henk' at 14-1

Should always bet on Betfair if you can, much better value.

Could be a big move on Ten Cate tomorrow one way or the other

It may not mean anything, but there's just been around £3000 staked on Big Sam on Betfair. It's not been taken yet, but it's sat there if anyone wants to lay him.

I don't think any of us are that hard up!!

This is pure speculationon my part and is a combination of the fact that Rovers are looking for a new manager and are under review for a potential purchase. What if JW was asked to interview an overseas candidate at the behest of the new potential owners of the club ? As fans we could have real cause to celebrate as a new more high profile manager was brought in by the new owners. That would be a wonderful way to win over the fans a boost revenues!!! Just a thought.

The name I have heard is so bad that I fear it is a wind-up although my source insists it is not.

Seriously - let's just stick with the short list previously worked out and mentioned.

I have no idea about Ten Cate for the reasons previously stated. When this is over I will explain more.

With some well qualified reasonably big names available just how can we be cocking this up so bad?

I'm afraid that camp are not talking to me right now. Something to do with a little bit of old Glasgwegian advice about 'get off your ****ing fat ***** and sort it out ya ****** bam ye.'

You didn't did you nicko? If you did me hats off to you mate. :D:D

Oh and I want to pop me top a bit here. Nicko workin his gonads off here to gis info, often a couple of days ahead of the press and SSN, both of who seem to get it wrong anyway. When nicko says he doesn't want to spill the beans on something or prefers to wait till a bit later, can we all just accept that instead of the constant pestering, let's have a bit of respect for the bloke he's doin a stellar job, IMHO.

John Williams has done a top job for this club since he's been here and is held in the highest regard. We've been excellent in that period in doing business on the quiet. Until I see concrete evidence he's undermined that good form by appointing a complete plank I see no reason to not believe he won't deliver for us again.

Which is precisely why I'm convinced Williams will come up with an exciting manager rather than the obvious candidates floated in the media. JW knows he has two prime responsibilities in this appointment; to appoint a manager able to develop the team and secondly to excite the supporters. It's a balance, Shearer for example would probably have failed on the first but scored highly on the second. Allardyce would score highly on the first and badly on the second.

When was the last time the press really knew what the club was up to before it was announced? For years it's been the case the club have played things close to the chest. Why should that change now?

With the £10m kitty supposedly now vanished, is it possible that some of that has been put aside to use as compo to bag a manager?

Who said?

besides we don't have a manager yet and BRFC do not state how much is available any way,

:rover:

Only just read the JW quotes from the telegraph. I'd have thought from those comments that they were about to appoint BFS as he is the only one i'm aware of that has had polls, and organised campaigns against him. If that is the case however I do agree with Revidge that this whole charade could have been avoided and he could have been appointed over a week ago.

Who is this Zulu? Muppet!

IF, WHEN, Hughes goes - we wont be looking in the basement bargains for a new manager. We have ambition! Last time we had a vacancy over 50 top managers applied!!

Yes, I know it's a cheap shot but it's not often I get the opportunity!

I thought I would get this in now, just in case you do appoint Michael Laudrup at the last minute. (I wouldn't be too unhappy with that, as I've got £20 on with Paddy Power at 20/1!)

My point, if there is one? You are not a fashionable club (neither are we) and top managers will not beat your door down for this job. Potential managers will choose you - not the other way around. Think yourself lucky that Ince and Allardyce are in the frame. It's still a better candidate list than the one we ended up with.

Made a bet with my friend last night that Hiddink will take over when we (Sweden) kick them out tonight, probably wont happen but a major coup by Williams if that happens.

Sorry but you are on a 100% loser on that one!

Once again, I come into the office this morning to jokes about Steve Maclaren and Fat Sam.

And of course, someone has to mention that Domenech would be a good candidate.

Getting quite tiresome this. People seem to find it genuinely funny.

By the way, is it really this bad??

The Lancashire Telegraph reports this morning that John Williams went to Switzerland to interview the "mystery" candidate, but cannot confirm who it is. They also report that BFS has also been interviewed over the last 2 days, the report also says that Williams did not stay to watch the France v Italy game as he wanted to get back and continue the process of appointing the next manager.

Switzerland? Then it must be Christian Gross....
