Bobby G Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So Nicko has just confirmed it is Ince we are after... Im thinking its just because he is young, English and ambitious... What are we trying to put ourselves out as? The Official Stepping Stone Club of the Premier League. "Join us, get a reputation and drop us like yesterday's newspaper. Apply Now"... And we expect our players not to leave everytime another club comes calling...Thats the whole mentality of the club.
Taggart Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Oh well, I think Paul Ince is a good candidate - he has got something to prove, young, hungry and british. He has played in a lot of big clubs like, Internazionale and Manchester United - which means he will have a good network around him. Hawkiiz: It does matter if the coach uses suit or not. He is supposed to show authority - NOT look like a waterboy. How much cooler isn't Hughes in his suit? i disagree with you on some of that - he is a young talent( proven in the lower leagues), smaller clubs, smaller finances. I am not sure how he will apease the sitaution at Rovers and make the players want to stay at Rovers rather than jump from a a "potential" sinking ship (if the wrong manager is chosen) I do not have confidence that Ince can attract and has the pulling power to deal in the transfer market at the premier league standard and in £millions. I also feel that he does not have worldwide or European experience, and he is nowhere near the stature of what Hughes was when he came in to Rovers. Sorry, would love to proven wrong if Ince is appointed and would be behind him %100, just not that confident in his skills and experience yet !
Blue n White Rover Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Why don't we have protest outside Ewood. Yes it sounds childish, but the board need to know how we feel and to be honest the thought of Ince managing us just scares me. About time we had a say in things and a little protest might go a long way. Ten Cate Bilic Laudrup these are the names we should be after FFS and it annoys me we're being linked with a division 2 managers!!
MarkBRFC Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So maybe he should bring his entire team...... cos they have done well in lower leagues too! God if it's him he must be bloody cheap.... if not paying US! Get a thingy going on face book now and tell me where to sign! He might have too yet
thenodrog Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Have faith Novella ............ I'm sure it'll be in Jacks will somewhere preventing BRFC being managed by somebody who cannot pronounce 'th'.

In Div 4 they are all skint, the other clubs in our league have pots of the bloody stuff.
leftfooter Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I thought we were going to get a manager who was going to build on the good work Hughes did? Why are we going for Ince then. He may have a fierce will to win, but he is Big time charlie and can't speak English properly (listen to his interviews). I'm sceptical about Ince; but that's just anachronstic snobbery. Besides that never stopped 'Arry Redknapp.
promoted2001 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Ten Cate Bilic Laudrup Ten Cate - Wont happen Bilic - Wont happen Laudrup - Wont happen
vintageadidas Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 We should be targeting managers who we want and not necessarily the ones who applied for the job. Ince - he must have done very well in his interview if he is to be the new rovers manager. It is a shame, it looks like JW has lost his battle against the dinosaurs on the board who want a cheap manager.
Grabbi Graeme Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 SSN reporting Aston Villa have agreed a £5.5 deal for Steve Sdiwell
Eddie Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Kind of irrelevent in the Prem isn't it? In Div 4 they are all skint, the other clubs in our league have pots of the bloody stuff. and the MK Dons were actually expected to do well when he took over... I just feel like the board has followed this logic: "last time we appointed an ex-player who had relatively little managerial experience, no premiership managerial or coaching experience and it worked...so let's do it again." Personally I think we should have more actively gone after targets, not simply gone for the "apply if you want it" way. Look at City and Chelsea, they went after managers who were very happy in their previous roles (or so it appeared at least). We didn't think outside the box on this one, with the exception of Ten Cate every candidate that we have been linked with was an obvious name.
misterbigalow Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=98942 You won't be laughing if he's the one Williams wants...
nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Fingers crossed this is true.... Ten Cate It's out of date, see above.
thenodrog Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=98942 'Steve pulled out all the stops' !
bringdunnback Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Nicko, what day do you reckon Ince will announced and what is the process and timescale of trying to get special dispensation?
thenodrog Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 We should be targeting managers who we want and not necessarily the ones who applied for the job. Ince - he must have done very well in his interview if he is to be the new rovers manager. They are all damaged goods as far as BRFC is concerned.
deftangel Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I'm still not seeing a satisfactory answer as to why Williams would fly out to Switzerland to interview a candidate not in the Euros. He's a busy man right now, I can't see him popping off somewhere just to pay "lip service"
PAFELL Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I believe the board know the one they want from the CURRENT short list. So no twists. The three we know have been interviewed are Ince, McClaren and Allardyce. Shearer dropped out. I think the other guy was Martinez, but I will stand corrected. Of course, once they make their choice the others will probably deny they ever met them and 'were shocked we didn't get the call.' I think that if it is only those three in the running for the job, I believe it would be McClaren who would get it. The board would look at Ince and consider him to inexperenced. With regards to BFS, there is too much baggage, the board know the fans don't want him, he failed at Newcastle, bad football. But McClaren - he would have the most to gain from the job, the one who would be more determined than the others to do a good job because of his own history with England. I also think he would be somebody JW could work with - where the others he may not be able to work with.
Parsonblue Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So it's Ince. Oh well, at least there won't be totally horrific football at Ewood next season. Can't see our big players being too "in awe" of our new manager, but time will tell. Don't get me wrong, it's a poor appointment, but we just have to be thankful it's not McClaren or (worst of all) BFFS. I believe Ince would be a terrible appointment - far worse than Allardyce. Ince has only managed in League Two and having watched a few games at Stanley I can't believe how poor the standard is in that League. It is light years from the Premier League - a totally different world. The fact that Ince couldn't be bothered to get the badges required is another minus in my book - he's had enough time since he stopped playing to do them. If it is Ince who's got the job, and from what Nicko has said I suspect it may be, it will be a backward step. From a manager and coaching staff who had top coaching qualifications going to Ince and Ray Mathias. So much for the Premier League rules that only the highest qualified coaches should work in this League.
Martin Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So Nicko has just confirmed it is Ince we are after... Im thinking its just because he is young, English and ambitious... Allardyce is the steady hand we require.
John Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Managerial wise, you can't compare Ince to Hughes. Hughes had 6 years of international management experience. Other differences between the two which are fairly important: Hughes is naturally intelligent, has a top quality backroom staff, was a tough player but has respect for what he did in the game and the way he conducts himself.
