With regards to BFS, there is too much baggage, the board know the fans don't want him, he failed at Newcastle, bad football.

No thats wrong Pafell. 2000 spotty know-nowt teenagers who in a fine display of lynch mob mentality signed a petition on something called facebook who don't want him. :angry2:

The fact that Ince couldn't be bothered to get the badges required is another minus in my book - he's had enough time since he stopped playing to do them.

This worries me as well. A proper methodical and open minded coach would go out and get these. Ince is a real gamble, but it could come off.

It's very hard to say what he is like if you were not in the interview.... He might have come across with the right ideas, methods and transfer targets to take Rovers forward.

I believe Ince would be a terrible appointment - far worse than Allardyce.

Ince has only managed in League Two and having watched a few games at Stanley I can't believe how poor the standard is in that League. It is light years from the Premier League - a totally different world. The fact that Ince couldn't be bothered to get the badges required is another minus in my book - he's had enough time since he stopped playing to do them.

If it is Ince who's got the job, and from what Nicko has said I suspect it may be, it will be a backward step. From a manager and coaching staff who had top coaching qualifications going to Ince and Ray Mathias. So much for the Premier League rules that only the highest qualified coaches should work in this League.

Thus giving the lie to any of his supporters claiming him to be 'ambitious'.

To be fair from everything I have read and everyone I have spoken to the majority of Rovers do not want Sam, young or old. I don't think there is much doubt about that.

If it doesn't we're in the championship and to be honest I don't see us coming back from there. Probably turn out like Gretna in the end.

I just find the whole thing so depressing that i want to break down in tears. Why are we the only club around that seems to lack ambition? Other far worse clubs than ours seem to go out and make, for them, exciting appointments. We seem to have settled for the drab, the unpopular, the inept from the start. To say we had a list of 40 potential candidates at the start and then end up with these 3 is awful to say the least. McClaren was a joke at Boro and all their fans were relieved to see the back of him despite the cup runs. My family went to very few matches while he was there. Ince is an unknown quantity but seems to have rubbed so many rovers fans up the wrong way that you do have to ask what's going to happen if it all goes pear shaped. I won't repeat what I think of allardyce. How can it all go so spectacularly wrong. Our previous manager left us with plenty of time to do something positive about the position and instead we spend 2-3 weeks messing about to go round in circles and come up with a candidate who we could have had then and who no amount of propaganda will make acceptable to all but a small handful of fans. Spoke to Newcastle fans last night at the cricket who were laughing at us for our managerial position. Says it all really.

Like it or not nodrog, the VAST majority of fans don't want Allardyce at Ewood. Look at this forum, the talkbacks on LET articles, polls, everything.

Thank God.

sorry but I'm almost a senior citizen, don't have spots, am on facebook and don't want him. Stop the stereotypes. and before you accuse me of wanting to be part of teen culture or anything, I have kids in Germany, France and South Korea and facebook is the easy way for them to show photos, videos etc of what they are doing.

A very interesting article about Ince's career as a player and as a manager.

An excerpt:

STYLE OF PLAY

"A lot of clubs at this level think the only way to get out of a position like this is to kick your way out of it. We’re going to try to play. That’s what I’ve always been used to, and that’s what the boys can do."

One of the most refreshing aspects of Paul Ince’s management regime is his focus on attractive, attack-oriented passing football, with his team set out to prove that it is wholly possible to get out of the lower leagues without kicking the opposition off the park. Although best known for his tackling and battling qualities, Ince was an extremely cultured midfielder with an excellent passing range, and is attempting to impart to his teams a global footballing philosophy based on a wealth of knowledge accumulated in his much-travelled career.

Although Macclesfield’s escape from relegation last season did not produce scintillating football on the scale of Arsenal or Barcelona, it was easier on the eye than would be expected from a club in a relegation scrap at the bottom of the Football League. Equally, whilst MK Dons are by no means the top scorers in League Two this campaign, their game is founded upon short, mixed passing, in the mould of Dario Gradi’s Crewe, for whom Ince expressed masses of admiration before the two teams met in November’s FA Cup tie. Though the Dons eventually ran out 2-1 losers, the two combined to produce an open and attractive game that was a credit to the Football League.

The football on offer, as well as the promise of promotion, has led to a huge increase in gates attendance at Stadium:mk, with a new bunch of local fans starting to mobilize around the club and a good 8,500 often attending games. The Dons’ 25,000 tickets to Wembley for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy were reportedly sold out within hours.

Don't get me wrong I'd rather have had another of the candidates but quite simply Ince's managerial record and imo abilities do not stand comparison to Allardyce.

I wonder who it is on the board that's been digging in his heels over Allardyce? He might well be shifting rather uncomfortably in his seat by Easter.

Managerial wise, you can't compare Ince to Hughes.

Hughes had 6 years of international management experience.

Other differences between the two which are fairly important: Hughes is naturally intelligent, has a top quality backroom staff, was a tough player but has respect for what he did in the game and the way he conducts himself.

I think you're confusing natural intelligence with being educated. How do you know this?

LET Article

BLACKBURN chairman John Williams made a flying visit to the European Champi-onships yesterday to hold talks with another contender for the manager's job.

Williams flew to Switzerland to speak with a candidate on the club's shortlist, but the Rovers chief has refused to confirm whether the man in question is currently managing one of the countries taking part in the tournament, or working as a pundit in the media.

"I did go to see someone at the European Championships yesterday, but unfortunately I wasn't able to stay for the Italy-France game because I had to get back and carry on with the process," said Williams cryptically.

Well said! BFS has hardly been a fixture at the top of the polls on here either!
