JW inferred that he would have like to have watched Italy v France as though his interviewee maybe went on to watch it. Spain play Italy next so could it be that old racist Spanish Manager who's not lost for about 25 games

From the LT

"I did go to see someone at the European Championships yesterday, but unfortunately I wasn't able to stay for the Italy-France game because I had to get back and carry on with the process," said Williams cryptically.

vintageadidas' point needs reinforcing, whoever is appointed, it is imperitive that all Rovers throw their full support behind the new Manager, we are at a crucial point, a possible fork in the road, in our modern history.

I never said he'd signed for Pana, I simply quoted a number of news stories who said he had.

And I'm not wrong.

He HASN'T signed for Panathinaikos.

Quote away about what has been written about him NOT signing for Panathinaikos if you want.

I don't see any point in continuing this topic with you.

As they say, you should never waste your time educating a mug.

Make this end now!!!! Please im getting tired, please appoint somebody and get it over and done with…. Who wants the job, please just take it…. :(

Good lord, correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't it just a few days ago you said something along the lines of "we need to make sure we pick the right candidate, we should wait if we have too." Now you just want whoever we can get?

Anyway, don't worry, I have a few UEFA Pro Licence badges to spare i'll pass one onto Paul when I see him.

As usual you've misinterpreted my response. I'm not disputing whether Ten Cate has signed or not for Pana, it's completely irrelevant as I'm sure he will at the end of the month. What I am disputing is your claim that Ten Cate was ever in the running for the Rovers job.

Keep dishing out the personal insults Nicko, I'll just keep laughing at your increasing desperate attempts to dig yourself out of a hole.

You said he had signed for Panthinaikos...wrong.

You refuse to admit that he hasn't yet...wonder why.

You have no kowledge of what has passed between Rovers and Ten Cate.

I have repeatedly - at some risk to a contact - kept people on here updated on what has gone down.

The local paper, several nationals and the luvvie Guardian have all caught up with the fact that he was still a runner.

I find out - because I have a line into this - that he is NO LONGER a runner. You get told.

Question - What part of this don't you understand?

Answer - the lot.

Spin the clock back a year...David Bentley was booed everywhere for turning down England under-21s. He now plays for England is seemingly wanted by the good and the great.

Spin the clock back two years...Ronaldo could NEVER play in England again because he was so hated for getting Rooney sent off. He has won Player of the Year awards galore and is about to become either the best-paid or most expensive player in the world.

Spin the clock back ten years...David Beckham could NEVER walk the streets after being sent off. He won 100 caps and was England skipper for most of the time.

People forget.

Nicko, so do you think McLaren (with a couple of ex-Rovers on his backroom staff) would be the best option out of 3 candidates that are still in the running?

Am I the only one that is not to worried about our club for the moment?

The squad is good, and some might moan because Hughes left, but in the end they'll mostly worry about how big their pay check is. Bentley might leave if somebody from big 4, that's okay. He maybe deserves it for being our best player for the last 2 years and wanting CL. The fee will enable to compensate the loss with strengthening a relative weak midfield. A right winger is not the worst position to replace. I'll be more worried if Roque left, but maybe Benny will rediscover some form being the main striker again?

Hughes leaving reflects mostly badly on him. He earlier claimed that leaving the such structured enviroment as our club, where he also had build up everythinig over 3 years would be very hard. Chelsea would be understandable and I'd wish him luck. A summer fling using a gold pot filled with blood money gained from corruption seems to shallow.

In addition, even finishing 7, I felt a bit underwhelmed for a lot of the season. Persisting with players out of form (Nelsen, Samba, Gamst, Benni), Cup failures like Coventry and Larissa and generally stale football relying on Bentley providing Roque seems to stick. Hughes as a tactician is very predictable. He'll stick with the same system, the same players and the same substitutions. His biggest strength seems to be getting respect for players, having a good coaching team, good high intensity training and also the transfer policy. His love for Dickov and Mokoena showed he prefers commitment over quality.

Where now?

Big Sam:

- Messed up in Newcastle as everybody does. Bolton football style awful (I also thin Everton is almost as bad). Questionable personality and corruption claims.

+ Good results with Bolton. Can handle different personalities (E.g Kevin Davies). Seems to have a degree of flair in his teams: Claus Jensen, Gudjohnsen, Okocha, Djorkaeff, Diouf, Anelka. Operated well on a small budget.

McClaren:

- England spell ruined his reputation. As a Norwegian I'm less bothered because I've never seen an England coach not having his person/quailifications ruined afterwards: Hoddle, Keegan, Eriksson etc.. I don't get why people would want the job.

+ Decent job in Boro with some cup success. Brought youngsters up. Also seemed to have a decent rapport with the players. Ferguson had a lot of time for McClaren as manager potential, unlike Kidd.

Ince:

- Lack of experience as manager, esp on PL level. Lack of coaching qualifications. (Old arrogant remarks as a player I'm not gonna bother about). Doubts over quality of backroom.

+ very good results so far. Pure winner personality, will get respect from the players regardless of manager career. You don't captain United and England without having an aura of authority. Also prefers good football. Great football career. I also respect that he has not sat around as a pundit waiting for the right offer, but getting his hands dirty with great success. Take a look at how many ex-big players whi has struggled to adapt from their professional ways when managing a lower league team. Ince obviously gets his message through and can adapt to the circumstances.

I've always been a risk taker and would definitly go for Ince as a wild card. If he's using us a stepping stone, than fine, means we had success. No great manager would see Blackburn as their last biggest achivement anyway. Getting someone with PL experience would only mean getting someone you know is at best mediocre. The only good ones like Wenger, Ferguson and O'Neill are not very realistic. Ince knows PL and he know international football.

As a Rovers fan I'll settle for a decent place in the league and some cup run, but most of all I'd like good football with some memorable matches. This season only the Wigan fightback with 10 men comes to mind while previous seasons had a lot more.

So I'm going to continue to relax over the whole thing, no matter who they appoint I'll be sneaking out of all family obligations when the match is on the tv, and trying to get a trip over to watch them live.
