Iceman Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 You said he had signed for Panthinaikos...wrong. You refuse to admit that he hasn't yet...wonder why. You have no kowledge of what has passed between Rovers and Ten Cate. I have repeatedly - at some risk to a contact - kept people on here updated on what has gone down. The local paper, several nationals and the luvvie Guardian have all caught up with the fact that he was still a runner. I find out - because I have a line into this - that he is NO LONGER a runner. You get told. Question - What part of this don't you understand? Answer - the lot. i have a question though Nicko, which hotel did you and scotty arrange to visit?Does Mrs Nixon know about this lovers quarrel..lol.

Cocker Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If I said 'chicken and beans' it would start a frenzy... It wouldnt because Big Al has said no
Ronin Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If it was Switzerland, countries that were based there are/were: Switzerland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Turkey, Romania, France, Italy, Holland. Portugal vs Germany play their QF there tomorrow as well as Holland vs the winners of Sweden or Greece on Saturday. If it was a pundit, it could be anyone really, as each country represented and more would have their big name pundits. Hope JW pulls the proverbial rabbit out of the hat and surprises us all - in a good way!

nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Nicko, so do you think McLaren (with a couple of ex-Rovers on his backroom staff) would be the best option out of 3 candidates that are still in the running? You're putting me on the spot a bit...McClaren would HAVE to have a Rovers connection with him. Frankly I would take a day or two and think if I was Rovers. They painted themselves into a corner by saying it could be the end of the week. I would exhaust inquiries into Laudrup and certainly sniff at Bilic..and, yes, I would still try for Ten Cate. You're getting me down again...
ace Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If I said 'chicken and beans' it would start a frenzy...or a Danish... Unfortunately right now I am more likely looking at three dumplings. Come come Nicko..Scotty will try and have us believe that you are now manipulating the dumpling-futures market!
den Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Nicko - Scotty, both your positions on the Ten Cate story are well known, so can we move forward now, - PLEASE?
spencey7 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If it's a pundit, who's to say he'd be punditing for English TV? Exactly - I'm just curious to find out if he was a participating member of a management team at Euro 2008, or there to provide media analysis?
Iceman Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I reckon,it wont be BFS,or Mary Poppins or Ince…I get the feeling that(well BFS and Poppins)were interviewed because they currently out of a job,I also think this delay, has got something to do with Euro 08,and that JW has his eyes on either Bilic,Van Basten or my favourite domenech(sp)
nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Switzerland is the host country of the Euros. They were knocked out. Can we move on...
JAL Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 The BBC Studios are in Basel, Switzerland Strachan ? Garth F***ing Crookes ? Peacock Dixon Carlton Palmer Adrian Chiles would get my vote What about radio pundits in Switzerland?
RevidgeBlue Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I would exhaust inquiries into Laudrup and certainly sniff at Bilic..and, yes, I would still try for Ten Cate. Might still have to if Ince's lack of qualifications prove a problem. If it was ManUre or West ' aaam I'd sure it would mysteriously disappear under the carpet. But this is Blackburn Rovers we're talking about..........
Iceman Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Switzerland is the host country of the Euros. They were knocked out. Can we move on... Joint hosts,is Austria stil in?ive only been following the Dutch...

I'd hope Rovers would have enquired about Laudrup and Bilic seeing as they're taking so long over all of this. If not, then we (or the board, at least) deserve Ince, McClaren or BFS!
EwoodGlory Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Chicken and Beans may be back on the menu. So you think JW went to see Shearer?
gumboots Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Spin the clock back a year...David Bentley was booed everywhere for turning down England under-21s. He now plays for England is seemingly wanted by the good and the great. Spin the clock back two years...Ronaldo could NEVER play in England again because he was so hated for getting Rooney sent off. He has won Player of the Year awards galore and is about to become either the best-paid or most expensive player in the world. Spin the clock back ten years...David Beckham could NEVER walk the streets after being sent off. He won 100 caps and was England skipper for most of the time. People forget. Do you really think they do though? They might forgive a player but a manager is different. Players get chance after chance to redeem themselves week in week out. a manager is much less high profile and carries the can for failure. they don't display individual flair like the players you mention.
2PAC 4 Blackburn Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Banners and a mass protest at Ewood Park! Ten Cate's agent is Sigi Lens from what i can workout but i don't have his mobile number. Rite this is his agents numbers Tel:+31-20/449 2966 Fax:+31-20/659 9699 Based in Holland, company is Pro-Athlete Sports Management B.V.
Manchester Blue Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 How do you know? Because Nicko said so? Well many different press sources, the same sources you claimed as fact when they reported Ten Cate had joined Panathanaikos are running the story that he is in the running. Are you suggesting they are all simply following Nicko's lead in the same way as a few on here are? In that case why did they not follow Nicko when he said Ten Cate hadn't signed? Ultimately it will be impossible to prove either way if Nicko is lying, but if you think he is then I would think reading this thread would be pointless because how could you think he is lying on this but straight up on other aspects? A dutch media source broke the Ten Cate name before Nicko confirmed it and his price has been up and down many times. Martinez was another name mentioned by Nicko which I don't think was batted around elsewhere but you don't seem botherd about that one, did you lump big money on Henk against Nicko's advice and feel silly? You will not win the argument on this as you cannot prove Nicko made it up so all you are doing is annoying half the board and wasting band width.
herbergeehh Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Have I missed something? Domenech? Please no. Worse?

Players get chance after chance to redeem themselves week in week out. a manager is much less high profile and carries the can for failure. they don't display individual flair like the players you mention. It's Rovers. The local press will be onside, the local nationals won't give him much grief as I told he is actually quite an OK guy. The London gang will put the boot in and that will mean extra pressure, but so what? You came through the Bully Boy period and survived. Sometimes you should just pick what you think is best and sod the rest. I'm not saying 'give it to McClaren' by any means, but you can't let bad press or negative fan reaction put you off at the end of the day. The same goes for Big Sam. If the board chooses him they have to state why and let him waffle his way through. By the way, why does no-one mention Martinez any more? You COULD almost state a claim for him - with a senior helper.

spencey7 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Switzerland is the host country of the Euros. They were knocked out. Can we move on... Cheers Nicko! For what it's worth - He's better than BFFS or McClaren.

With gumboots on this one, McClaren would have to work miracles just to win back any credibility and erase the over-riding "wally with the brolly" image. Against that, Sven's stock seems to have risen despite a generally dismal spell with England.
