Do you really think they do though? They might forgive a player but a manager is different. Players get chance after chance to redeem themselves week in week out. a manager is much less high profile and carries the can for failure. they don't display individual flair like the players you mention.

In football things can change so quickly….Bellamy, came with injuries, stayed injury free most of the time,Roque, known for his injuries, came to rovers no worries,Benni, was struggling for goals, came to rovers,2nd highest goalscorer…there are many more situations concerning rovers, then they leave rovers and struggle.im always baffled as to why that is,well not really.we a good club, good people,so at the endo of the day,as always its about the money…

im not sure what im moaning about,or trying to say.ive just lost focus completely.

I am guessing that the mystery man is Shearer - and that Rovers have backed down on some of his demands. Kind of fits in with Nicko's dismay at who JW was going to see - and also the none too subtle chicken and bean references (which could have course be a red herring).

Nicko was disgusted at Shearer's demands - as well as him actually turning down Rovers. Maybe this would explain why he was disappointed at who JW went to see ?

Down to you Nicko - you can kill this one easily enough.

Alex Ferguson must have seen something in McLaren to take him to Old Trafford as his number 2. I'm just wondering if he could be an option, I've been dead against his appointment all the way through but with the list shortening I dont know if it would be all bad.

Maybe he's learnt his lessons with England and will come back hungrier and wanting it more than the other names in the hat. Maybe, just maybe, he's a man with pride who wants to show people what he can do. At the end of the day if he's such a good coach he can get the best out of the team.

I'm not convinced but just hope it works out ok in the end

By the way, why does no-one mention Martinez any more? You COULD almost state a claim for him - with a senior helper.

Could this 'senior helper' idea apply to Ince?

The mystery manager interviewed in Switzerland could be a director of football. He will surely have the required coaching badges.

This would get round the issue of Ince not having any.

Interesting theory, was Big Al commentating on the Italy/France game or the Dutch game?

If he's appointed and gets results, then he's the right man Ricky. JW has to look beyond the supporters polls/facebook petitions and bring in the man most likely to get results on the field, end of story.

If McLaren is the most likely candidate to do that, in the opinion of the board, then they must appoint him, no matter what the initial response from the fans. Likewise, Allardyce.

I'm not saying too much as I had hughes as number 3 on my shortlst last time. I wanted Dowie or Strachan and it ended up working out ok. I have complete faith in John Williams on this matter. He'll appoint the right man for the job.

As usual you've misinterpreted my response. I'm not disputing whether Ten Cate has signed or not for Pana, it's completely irrelevant as I'm sure he will at the end of the month. What I am disputing is your claim that Ten Cate was ever in the running for the Rovers job.

The one problem with your theory is that Ten Cate was linked with the Rovers job from another source before Nicko confirmed that was the "Candidate B". Unless you can explain that one, continually hounding the bloke about it doesn't hold any water.

Correct den.

Although they surely have to bear in mind that an extremely unpopular choice would find it that much harder to get the said results on the field.

it was also taken up the entire mainstream media. It's possible that every newspaper has an employee sitting watching this site and will then publish stories without cross-checking them, but I don't think we would have seen it so widely taken up had there not been at least some truth to it.

I though Shearer and the BBC team were in Vienna ?

With great respect to the noble scribe, please could we draw a line under Ten Cate situation. I'm no expert, but with the benefit of a little local knowledge, he wasn't the right man for Rovers.

If we know that Allerdyce, Ince and McClaren have been interviewed, who were the other three ? and was yesterday's excursion to see one of them or an additional candidate ?

Laudrup's odds are shortening, I wonder if he is a pundit for Danish TV ?
