toetoe Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 His good results at club teams seems to be with BIG clubs, and at other clubs he stayed for very short time periods...

joey_big_nose Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Ajax 79-81:Won the league Real Madrid 86-89:3 times league winner and 1 cup win Ajax:89-91:Won the league Feyenoord 97-00:Won the league Triniad & Tobago 05-06:Led them to their first World Cup,almost went thrugh to second round, ahead of England. Poland:won the EC qualifiers, ahead of Portugal and Serbia. These are great results. Also coached Real Zaragoza and the Dutch national team twice. Been a director in both Ajax and De Graafschap the last 8 years. Very impressive. Nicko - what do you think the likelihood due to his experience as a Director that he could be lined up to be Director of Football/Technical Director on a ticket with Ince? Would make sense in a way. The two question marks over Ince would be 1) Tactical nous 2) Connections to potential targets. Beenhakker would cover these. Risky strategy as they might not get on but it could be being explored....
Blue n White Rover Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Interesting this was posted on 606 on 16th June, saying Laudrup as his asistant?
Manc Rover Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Well he sounds like a bit of a has-been who wouldn't help us out much with our bull-boy reputation. Beenhaaker has pedigree for sure, but (without sounding ageist), he's about 115 years old and dont think the cold Lancashire weather would be good for someone his age!
ScudCrater Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 What about Beenhakker with Ince as his No.2 (until Ince gets his badges and aclimatises to Premier League management)?
vintageadidas Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Very interesting.........he has won things, coached some of the top teams, is a well known name too whcih may help in attracting or keeping players.
alexanders Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Leo Beenhakker is terrifying. If he came and yelled at me I would [a] wet my pants Run until he said I could stop!
Bobby G Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 This whole new manager thing has dragged on too much and has become a huge jokeeee.
nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Sounds like dellinsert has been scooped on that one...or he's moonlighting. Mind you, I can't find that quote on any Polish newspaper website. It seems a tad far-fetched. Why would Laudrup come as his number two?
Cocker Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That could be the face that tells Samba to stay in defence and stop wandering up to be a striker
joey_big_nose Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Interesting this was posted on 606 on 16th June, saying Laudrup as his asistant? Is there a connection between Laudrup and Beenhakker? I don't think Laudraup after all his success would want to be an assistant again. Maybe the Polish newspaper knew that Beenhakker is in the frame as a Director and plucked Laudrup as a possible assistant out of the candidates being bandied around?
alexanders Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 At least its more amusing to speculate in big names and great managers than accept Wally or Sam as our next ?
gumboots Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Beenhaaker has pedigree for sure, but (without sounding ageist), he's about 115 years old and dont think the cold Lancashire weather would be good for someone his age! It gets very cold in Poland too though and he seems to have survived that, unless he's like those russian premiers who were dead for years before their death was announced
Zulu Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 It seems a tad far-fetched. Why would Laudrup come as his number two? A wicked and devious scheme, hatched by Paddy Power, to deprive me of my winnings perhaps?
joey_big_nose Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 It gets very cold in Poland too though and he seems to have survived that, unless he's like those russian premiers who were dead for years before their death was announced He looks like he has already been embalmed. If we want authority you can tell he has got it just by the photographs.... He wouldn't look out of place in a necromancers outfit.
AJW Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Did beenhakker and laudrup ever work together at ajax or madrid? i'm thinking coach an director of football
Eddie Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Leo Beenhakker is terrifying. If he came and yelled at me I would [a] wet my pants Run until he said I could stop! I WANT YOU
b12_simon Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That could be the face that tells Samba to stay in defence and stop wandering up to be a striker Beenhakker
briansol Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Pretty good for an old guy to take Poland to their first EC, winning their qualifying group with Portugal in it. Also remember his enjoyable Trinidad side in the WC. My only worry is if he brought back Dwight Yorke as the midfield maestro role he was employed in then. Still, Roy Keane uses him there
b12_simon Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 This whole new manager thing has dragged on too much and has become a huge jokeeee. So you're prefer we'd just appointed the first numpty to apply?
JAL Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Interesting this was posted on 606 on 16th June, saying Laudrup as his asistant? Has Micheal Laudrup worked with Beenhakker in the past . If theres any truth in this then this is my dream pair to manage Rovers out of all the other candidates that have been mentioned.
joey_big_nose Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Beenhakker  I was trying to work out who he reminded me of. The Emperor!
Ronin Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Well, that has lightened things up a bit. A team of Beenhaaker and Laudrup could bring sexy football, I like that. Although he might scare some players away though
Wiggy Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If you were going to create a smokescreen why not put out that you were going to meet Leo Beenhakker......when you were actually meeting his opponent from the previous night, Slavan Bilic? If you were to set a meeting up with Bilic, the only time to do it would be the first day of his four day break prior to his next match. It would be inconceivable for JW not to have had at least a telephone conversation with him.
PAFELL Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Leo Beenhakker is terrifying. If he came and yelled at me I would [a] wet my pants Run until he said I could stop! That picture says "bentley you are going nowhere, until I say so" or "Mokena you are the weakest link, goodbye"
