With regards to Allardyce and peoples responses; First of all very predictable, but don't let statistics get in the way of the fact Bolton were always 4th-5th until April time when they could never last the pace. We have always been on the other side of things, creeping up at the last. So yes, in my book that makes you Champions League contenders.

And anyone who pointed out we have won the league , got promoted in '91 blah blah etc etc thank you, very informative. I'm not even going to justify those comments.

As for Sparky to Chelsea... on the coach back from Wembley, we had Talksport on the radio... they were REALLY pushing for Chelsea to go in for Hughes.

Maybe where the papers have come out with Hughes from?

As for my thoughts on Wembley (just for PAFELL (?)); Nice stadium, the views inside are amazing... I doubt there is a seat in there with a bad view. The main thing that lets it down is more poor organisation than anything IMO & the fact from the main pubs area to the stadium there arn't any toilets! ...I was busting by the time I got to Wembley... it's well set out how they have toilets outside... but there arn't enough! it was like cattle at the market in there!

the police were a bit heavy-handed as well and mainly seemed like they were looking for something to do... it's a smart idea having the ramp split off into two... as we were walking up the Hull City side, fans of each side were bantering at each other, purely harmless banter... then a Hull City fan pulled a w*nk*r sign and shouted the word and laughed... then a policeman grabbed him by his neck, pulled him away and started marching him back down the ramp!

the lad tried to take a sip of his lager out of the can and the cop snatched it off him and tipped it all over a load of fans!

glad I was a few steps back, as I would have been drenched... the guy in front of me was.

I think Wembley's biggest hitch though is it being on a sort of "platform"... it leaves no "free roaming" or space to allow an easy, well flowing exit. We seemed to be stuck in a jam of people on the "platform" for about 20 mins and they don't have any signs high enough in the air to be able to see where to go to get to the ramp down, to the lower ramp... as the signs are covered at mid-height by the masses of people.

Oh... and I had a bag with me, with a packet of crisps, my PSP, PSP games, a can of fizzy Vimto, a load of USB sticks and other random stuff... all they did was ask to see inside it then the guy felt the bottom of it a few times and let me in... no questions asked.

Glad you had a good time. Totally agree about there not being a bad seat in the ground and it is well set out inside. For the FA Cup final every seat had a free flag in the clubs colours. The atmosphere was also good. One thing that did impress me was how they look after the disabled. I was a carer for my friend who has a disability and therefore as his carer I got in free. The stewards helped him all the way.

Also agree about the toilets, both inside and outside. I think the reason for not showing where the way down to the lower ramp, is the large Bobby Moore statute, which you see as you walk up to the stadium - they 'assume' if you find that you find the way down. On Wembley way the growd is held back every so often because of the Tube station. As you walk towards the train station and get to the bridge the police stop people every now and again, because of congestion on the platform. I must admit that is a good idea and works - after all the trains are about every 5 minutes.

Hope you took your own butties.

On the searches etc - they make the announcments, put up signs and search your bag and just let you through. Yes the police are heavy handed and tolerate nothing.

With Real Zaragoza being relegated, what is happening with their major players?

I would expect that there would be a lot of interest for Milito and Aimar. Possibly in the Prem.

I believe the bigger clubs in Spain are sniffing at Milito. Aimar is being offered to English clubs but there are no takers yet, a very neat player but possibly too small. It would be great if someone took a chance on him as he is good to watch.

Tugay is not exactly a big guy is he?

I think he is bigger and stronger than Aimar in every way. In fact, a couple of inches taller and definitely more powerfully-built. Both are very talented and I personally don't measure their abiity in cubic centimetres, but Aimar's size does put English Premier League clubs off.

I heard that Sparky was in for Aimar 2 years ago but he went to Zaragoza. We'd have to change our system but I'd love it if we took the risk to sign him, especially if Bentley is off. I think Hughes could get Aimar doing the business but we'd need some bodyguards for him in midfield...

How about that Robbie Savage from Derby? They just got relegated and he would fit the bill perfectly...would come on the cheap too :rover:

I've always admired Aimar and I think alongside Vogel our balance would still be good in midfield - especially with Gamst being able to backtrack so well too. We need more pace in attack though.

How did Zabaleta do the other night btw?

Cant see Chelsea wanting Hughes at this point, they would much rather go for a big name coach.Although, knowing the egomaniacs at Chelsea,it will have to be another Egomaniac to take over that bunch. You just get the feeling, that in time things will just spiral out of control at that club.

I would love Saviola at Ewood, i have always rated him since i first saw him play. His career has gone down the pan with the lack of football he's seen but as proved with Santa Cruz, maybe all he needs is regular football to get him back to his best. Then again i don't think he would be up to the physical nature of the Premiership, if he could adjust quickly, with his pace and eye for goal, he would be asset to many a team in the Premiership.

Our main worry is keeping hold of Hughes atm, i think he might be realising he isn't going to be number one guy for Man Utd when Fergie goes, especially with Quieroz (sp :S) being touted as his successor, so an offer from Chelsea could be very tempting to him. TBH he has no real reason to stay with us if Chelsea where to come calling, he supported the club as a boy, played for them and they could match his ambition with the tools to realise them.

I don't know if the story has any truth in it but it would be rather sweet if Chelsea were to make a concerted effort to recruit Torres from Liverpool- preferably on 31 August.

I see Hiddink has very predictably distanced himself from the Chelsea job.

I just wonder if Marco van Basten would enter the Chelsea frame.

I think Van Basten has taken the Ajax after Euro 2008 job Philipl alongside Bergkamp, i cannot see him turning his back on Ajax for Chelsea,
