John Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 On the Chelsea job, there does not seem that many decent options around for them, which makes me think they may go for Hughes. Hopefully I am wrong, but it will be difficult to feel comfortable about it until they appoint someone. You would think they will try and get someone in asap, so they can start getting ready for next season.
Hasta Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I think we're flattering our manager greatly if we really believe that Roman Abramovic is going to move for him to make Chelsea the best team in Europe whilst playing attractive attacking football.
ihtd Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Sparky would suit them in terms that he is wise with money and Abromovich said he doesn't want to be funding massive signings every summer that would flop, Sparky rarely makes a poor signing. (exception being Mokoena who tbf has done a job when we weren't pushing top 10). But if i were Chelsea who want attractive free-flowing football, he would not be in the top 10 candidates for the job. Nicko is there any truth in what my notloB supporting webbed feet friend said about is looking to take Nolan from them? I personally cannot see it ever happening but he were saying that Nolan wants out of Bolton asap. Heard that off a fair few Bolton fans this weekend when watching the Championship play-off final. I wouldn't want him anywhere near the Rovers line-up.

I know what you are saying, he is still young, no experience managing in Europe, won nothing etc. However, you are never really sure how good someone can be until they are given a chance. As I said, there is not that many decent managers around.
Oklahoma Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 There's no way Chelsea wants Hughes. They want a high profile manager, with a big name. Scolari, maybe?

philipl Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I think Van Basten has taken the Ajax after Euro 2008 job Philipl alongside Bergkamp, i cannot see him turning his back on Ajax for Chelsea, Previous Ajax Manager Ten Cate was lured to a backroom job at Chelsea so I am sure Van Basten could be lured. Ajax probably pay less than the Rovers pay Hughes. Hiddink has just signed his Russian contract to 2010. The more I think about it the more concerned about Hughes going I become. Henry Winter's article saying Hughes is Kenyon's number one choice made an awful lot of sense.
ihtd Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Scolari never liked the press that went with the England job and i am not by any means comparing the job at Chelsea with that, but he would be under a lot of media pressure at a top club like Chelsea. There would be a lot of press pressure on at Chelsea and i really doubt he would ever manage in England because of it. I hope they give Rjikard the job, and stay away from Sparky because i cannot see who we would replace him with at all.

Tom 1 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I wanted Villa to sign a few players before the Euros....but it's all gone very quiet I thought Sidwell would be done by now but that's gone quiet, defender links have gone quiet...everythings gone quiet, even Gareth Barry!

Tom 1 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Holidays When you have a squad of about 16 players left...theres no time for that Theres no way I can handle another O'Neill 31st of August job.
Oklahoma Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Nicko, any news about Bentley? Shouldn't he have signed a new deal by now?
Neil Weaver Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I must say I'd be a lot less concerned if anybody else had written it. What, than philipl ?
bennyboyt11 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Nicko, any news about Bentley? Shouldn't he have signed a new deal by now? Thought rovers had retracted the new contract offer due to being peeved about Bentley's delaying of the contract
tchocky Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Mourinho signs for Inter and wants Deco and Lampard to go with him.~ So, Inter will probably let go some center midfielders. Maniche and Pele would be good for us... I'll believe it when I see the official press release from Internazionale Milano FC
philipl Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Some interesting stuff in the Star this morning: Middlesbrough will fund a £3m move for Heerenveen's American midfielder Michael Bradley by selling George Boateng. (Daily Star) Man Utd assistant manager Carlos Queiroz wants reassurances he will succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford or he will leave the club. (Daily Star) Leeds Chairman Ken Bates could sell the club after they failed to gain promotion to the Championship. (Various) Any comments Nicko or is this Elvis serving the man in the moon at the corner chipshop stuff?

(Various) Any comments Nicko or is this Elvis serving the man in the moon at the corner chipshop stuff? The Bradley and Boro talks have been on since the end of last week, the figure is low and wrong - and Boateng coming or going doesn't really matter. Queiroz has nowhere to go and could not get those assurances. Daft story. Bates probably would sell, but who would want to get into that financial maze? And Elvis has left the building.
nicko Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 What's his name? Couldn't find the lineups from that game. My mistake - his name was Bruno Saltor of Almeria [not Rekarte]. He's 27 and wanted by Sevilla to replace Daniel Alves when he goes. I hope he caught the eye, he was meant to be very good and played against Messi.

nicko Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I believe Bentley has confirmed that there are no more contract talks now...does that mean I cen get my head out of the stocks? All you can say about this is that the lad does at least speak the truth. He doesn't want to sign and thinks it's time to move on. Yes, his head has been turned, but at least everyone now knows where they stand. Liverpool obviously have made the £12 million approach and now it will be a case of getting the magic figure to the £15 million [or so] needed.
nicko Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 What is he valued at? Told £2 million which seems unbelievably cheap, must be something to do with his contract. Working on finding out more details. There is currently no English interest but that coud change as quite a few clubs were at the game on Saturday.
Oklahoma Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Bentley yet to agree contract on skysports "Asked if he had agreed a new deal with Blackburn, Bentley said: "No I haven't signed it but we're not talking about that now. "

Sweet god not to Liverpool it's going to be another bloody summer of listening to the house full here gloating about signing our players again
