Could somebody pass me the rope now please......

There aint nothing wrong with Gordon Strachan….in fact before Hughes appointment many would have taken either him or Hughes….

Don't know if anyone has brought this up yet...

But, if MH goes to City, wouldn't that contradict his statement that he'd only manage clubs he's played for?? (or have I missed something?)

As far as I'm aware he's never said that.

I can't see Williams keeping Hughes on if Chelsea don't make an offer and he turns down City. This move by Hughes has made his position at Rovers untenable.

Unless Williams is helping Hughes get the chelsea job - williams knows hughes will turn city down. I believe there is something dodgy going on. What were the agreed terms for city to speak to hughes? Is it possible that hughes will give public swipe at the trusties of rovers?

The story is still being written.

Surely he'd be severely damaging his chances of becoming Man Utd's manager in the future?

I have to say that we are really paying the price for not backing him with more money last season. His frustration was obvious to everyone in January. Whilst £3/4 million might have seemed a lot then, in the long run it might have been a small amount to keep our manager happy for a while longer. We could easily lose that in prize money next season if we don't appoint the perfect successor.*

*If he goes, of course.

Oh he's gone. Was reading some of his quotes about managing "Top Jobs" he's a goner his heart is no longer here. Time to move on.

He will come back to us with his tail between his legs, and us being Blackburn Rovers wont bat one eyelid at it.

He can't come back now.

How many top players would sign for Hughes at BRFC knowing that he'd be off as soon as a 'better' position became available.

We are talking about the same guy who rates Giorgios Samaras enough to sign him on loan,to join the other 10 strikers that he already has at the club.

Sorry but Rovers don`t have the luxury of signing players that wouldn`t even get a game for our 6 fingered friends down the road.

:(

So it's just a case of 'who next' then? I'd love Bilic, despite not having club experience, he just has that same aura around him that Hughes has that makes you know he's the real deal. He does seem genuinely content with the Croatia job, but would he really want to wait two years until his next tournament at this stage in his career? I think he might be tempted by a good offer.

The only British candidate that ticks all the boxes is Big Sam. The football wouldn't be pretty, which might be dangerous given the precarious nature of our attendances, but he would almost guarantee that we'd be able to compete at the top end on our limited budget. I'm not keen on the Mowbray idea, West Brom were already the strongest team in that division when he arrived, getting them up was no major achievement.

If he has a good run at the euros i think he may want to call it a day on the back of a good run. I can't imagine that many young managers like the fact that they hardly get any time to work with the players.

....because for a club like Rovers a foreign manager would be too much of a gamble.

and going for a poor british manager wouldn't be?

Why must he be british?

Check out the nationality of the managers who won the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League

Honestly I really don't give a damn if Hughes goes or stays now!

I was gutted when I heard it on the Beeb this morning, however since finishing work and taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture, I believe now may be the best time for him to leave.

In actual fact I would be overjoyed if we got £5m plus for him and his staff in compo and put it along with the reported £10m we have in our budget for transfers and give it to BFS.

I didn't like the idea of him coming anywhere near Rovers in the past, however when u look at the brilliant job he did at Bolton on as tight a budget with a much poorer squad, then I reckon he'd be a great replacement...

(I await your disgust lol )

There are several good British managers available. Rovers cannot afford to get it wrong for even half a season ; a steady hand on the tiller such as Allardyce or McClaren would be perfectly acceptable. .

He'd be my No 1 choice too.

Have you any contacts in Croatia nicko to sound him out?

I remember seeing an interview where he stated he would like to manage in the Premiership.

Something I can't remember anyone else saying............

Plenty of folk have commented 'well I could understand MH's interest in Chelsea, but Citeh?????????????'. So as well as speeding up the Chelsea decision makers, if he was to now go to Chelsea, wouldn't be bad for his PR amongst Rovers fans I suspect. Fair enough, hardly top priority, but an interesting little by-product.

Anyway, onwards and upwards.

I'd be sending four season tickets back. I wouldn't pay in washers to watch the dross they'd serve up.

You're also forgetting the dross served up under Hughes alot of the time.

On a bright note, if there is any time in the season to lose your manager and make big changes to your club. now is the best time.... much rather we lose hughes at the beginning of june than at the beginning of a season etc.

Rovers need a manager who is willing to continue on the progress. IMO both of the managers you mentioned would take rovers backwards/downwards and try to completely change the team for a different style. It may work out but it wouldn't win the fans over and that's what rovers board have been concerning themselves with in the past couple of seasons.

I don't really care what country they are from as long as they take us forward and long ball up to Davies isn't progress IMO.
