Does anyone know anything about this Gary Johnson bloke? Seen his name mentioned on another forum.

Generally acknowledged as having done a superb job at Bristol City.

Not sure if he would have the background to impress a dressing room full of multimillionaire international players.

Re: Ince; when you think about it, how an ex big name player handles himself at a 'small' club, often says a lot about that individual; thus MON (driven but principled) thrived at Wycombe, Tony (deeply flawed vain individual) Adams failed. It's harder to hide behind hangers-on in such an environment, and let's face it, Shearer has plenty of those.

Totally 100% agree. Ince might fail but he's the man we should employ.

Thanks for that Simon.

In his view Hughes is pushing onto "better things", he knows a couple of names he definitely doesn't want to replace him, but doesn't know whether he wants an experienced man or an up and coming fella.

And is worried about a mass player exodus.

Very helpful.

The problem with Garns articles are that he still seems to think we are the same club as we were when he was here pre Jack and pre all the TV money.

One big issue for the club is gates. 12% up. The club have worked hard. These fans can't be lost. The new manager must listen to his customers at Rovers or lse. This isn't Newcastle. 50,000 hard core each week with a queue outside so, so what!

Worryingly for the club, Rovers fans are loyal and maybe quiet at first, but they will vote with their opinions and their feet.

Humble managers have stayed longer than 'Know it all's' who have been dispatched quickly. Even Souey ate large amounts of humble pie over the Burnley not a Derby faux-pas. Hodgson lasted, as did Harford. As soon as Souey stopped getting results, he and Kidd both given short shrift and left.

I feel BFS, Wally with the Brolly and many others are 'Don't wan't to Listen managers, i always am right' managers. They will not go down at Ewood unless like Souey your getting the right results.

These managers might fail, but they might also take the clubv backwards off the picth too

Hello, Newcastle fan here, thought I'd fill you in on why Allardyce's tenure here was such a disaster:

1) Derby County's Premier League record: W1 D8 GS20 Pts11

Derby's record vs Sam Allardyce's Newcastle: W1 D1 GS 3 Pts4

2) Sam Allardyce's legendary training methods:

3) Newcastle players wanting to hurt each other in training: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...stle-broke.html

4) Alan Smith - Played 33 games, 0 goals, 78 fouls (4th in the Premier League this season, most of which were pointless and many led to goals conceded)

5) After results such as 3-1 win over Spurs and 3-2 win over Everton, Allardyce announces the team isn't defending enough and reverts to a Boltonesque strategy having initially promised to play a system based around Newcastle's strengths. We go a run of poor results against lesser teams, with the defensive outlook resulting in being completely dominated in terms of possession and territory.

6) Selling our most creative player (Solano) without signing a replacement.

7) Selling one of our most dangerous players (Dyer) and replacing him with Smith

8) Was given a choice of Smith or Elano and chose Smith

9) Criticises the board for missing out on some of his main targets. Who was this main target? One Kevin Nolan.

10) Signing a young defender for £6m and not playing him.

11) Playing a left winger who can't defend at left back.

12) Playing our only right winger on the left

13) Playing a various number of uncomfortable players on the right.

14) Joey Barton. Not a bad player, but with history so you have to look after him properly. Not Allardyce though who had to (Please don't use that word again) with Barton's head on Boxing Day. the aftermath is legendary.

15) Fines for dribbling and shooting.

16) Unmotivated and uninspired players.

17) Chopping and changing the team.

18) Blaming his captain by stripping the captaincy, even though our best run of games came when he played.

19) Allardyce is renowned for his famous fitness conditioning. Our players all looked knackered at 45 minutes.

20) Lost a lot of the Bolton coaches, and it would seem that he is pretty useless without them.

21) Blaming the players.

22) Falling out with an unnamed senior player (believed to be Owen, Given or Harper) and accusing them of undermining him in the media.

23) Signing aged centre backs who despite being good players were completely unsuited to the Premier League.

24) 352 suicide versus Liverpool

25) Aggressive style of play that cost us a place in the Fair Play League

26) Players becoming more negative after half time team talks.

27) Only four players regularly performed at an acceptable level under Allardyce: Harper, Milner, Beye, Viduka.

28) The following players only looked good once he had gone: Steven Taylor, Abdoulaye Faye, Jose Enrique, Nicky Butt, Geremi, Oba Martins, Joey Barton, Michael Owen.

To be honest, I wouldn't wish him on any club. He was worse than Souness.

Next Blackburn Manager - Next Permanent Manager

Allardyce S evens - predicatble long ball - his attitude won't go down with fans well because he's always right and and they are wrong -

Ince P 4/1 - a risk - ticks all the boxes - humble - will go down well with fans

Shearer A 5/1 - high risk - shown little inclination for true leadership qualities/man management skills - failed to take a serious attitude to coaching, coaching badges etc preferring his own voice (again) on the BBC sofa.- his attitude won't go down well with Rovers fans

McClaren S 12/1 - wally with the brolly - automatic relegation

Grant A 16/1 - high risk, already failed in the big decisions - on his way downwards, not upwards - no optimism here

Deschamps D 16/1 - foreigner with little grasp - Tigana at Fulham?

Houllier G 20/1 - £160m spent at LFC - went backwards - on a budget ???

Bilic S 20/1 - interesting, risky as he is risky himself in his approach - good shout.

Advocaat D 25/1 - dull and duller

OLeary D 25/1 - signed Wilcox - wrecked Leeds - fired off from Villa - big time loser and another know it all - his attitude won't go down well with Rovers fans

Collins J 25/1 - failure at Fulham

Newell M 25/1 - failed at Luton - interesting

Souness G 25/1 - baggage - very poor in transfer market above bargain buys

Dalgleish K 25/1 - lost the plot - welded to his golf clubs and his ego

Strachan G 25/1 - good shout -

Hoddle G 33/1 - religion and football don't mix.

:(

That list with just a few exceptions makes Allardyce look the best option.

Guardian: Hughes told - Get City into top 6 or you're out

The grass isn't always greener...

..."Mark Hughes is under instructions to supply Thaksin Shinawatra with a minimum top-six finish, and qualification for Europe, at Manchester City if he wants to avoid the same fate as Sven-Goran Eriksson. Hughes, whose appointment was confirmed yesterday, has been left in no doubt that the owner will not tolerate anything but a concerted effort to gatecrash the Premier League's "big four". Thaksin's refusal to countenance anything less led to Eriksson being paid off after one season and Hughes will be under even more pressure given the amount of money at his disposal this summer.

With that, however, comes a form of pressure that he will rarely have experienced at Blackburn or in his previous job in charge of Wales. Thaksin has shown he is not only wealthy but ruthless and it has been made clear to Hughes that he must deliver a significant return. To put the manager's task in context, City have not finished in the Premier League's top six since its inception and last finished that high in the top flight in 1992..."

Although...

..."A club-record deal for Jo, the Brazilian striker, has been arranged with CSKA Moscow, at a cost of £18m, and Hughes has identified David Bentley as his next target, with City preparing a bid of about £7m for a player who has only a year remaining on his contract at Hughes' former club, Blackburn Rovers. In total Thaksin will make about £50m available to Hughes and the Thai's associates are still in advanced talks with Ronaldinho, a proposed deal that has been laughed off all around the world but which is being treated with deadly seriousness in the City boardroom. Hughes will, in effect, have more to spend this summer than any manager bar Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and whoever chooses to replace Avram Grant at Chelsea..."

I doubt the board here would let Bentley leave for less than £10m, but it must be a nice problem for Hughes having all that cash to spend.

I'd love to know how Ince ticks all the boxes...he's only got a League Two promotion to his name.

He also picked up the Johnstone's Paint Trophy along with miraculously staving off relegation for Macclesfield. He won League Two by the way, which is a step up from mere promotion.

http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/sp...er_new_boss.php

"We are tuned in to the broadest possible bandwidth to make sure we don't miss out on anything.

"I want to hear from as many people as possible, who are genuinely interested in taking the club forwards, and then once we've drawn up a shortlist, we will make an informed decision.

"We needed a certain type of manager when Graeme (Souness) came in, and we felt Mark Hughes was the right man for that time when we appointed him.

"Now the situation is different again. We've got a strong squad of players and we will identify the right type of manager to take us forwards, and then match that to the list of people who have expressed an interest."

Although Williams is disappointed to lose Hughes, after almost four years, he revealed he started preparing, at least in his own mind, for life after the Welshman once he got linked with the Newcastle job earlier this year.

"We had a first taste of this in January, when the Newcastle job cropped up," said Williams.

"That sets your mind running and I would be lying if I said the thought process didn't start after that.

"It's only when it becomes reality that you then have to start thinking about acting on it, and that's the situation we find ourselves in now.

"I have an idea of the direction in which we want to go, and so I should because you have to prepare yourself for this eventuality.

"This is a very good job and it will be highly sought after.

"I'd like to think there's a growing appreciation within the game that this is an attractive job to have.

"Someone will be lucky enough to get it and then when they do, they will have the responsibility of taking on a top half Premier League team and trying to make us better."

Great Chairman :brfcsmilie:
