Shearer? Would be a disaster. Bit like Keegan going back to Sh**ecastle. Shearer is unproven and should go through the lower leagues first like evryone else. Hands up whoever has seen Shearer manage a team for a single game of football.

EDIT: Plus could you imagine the post match interviews? His a plank of wood? Shearer bores the hell out of me!

Kenny Dalglish did ok in 1985 with Liverpool, but I accept he had the support of the Anfield Boot Room behind him.

Why do so many people insist on saying "Oh Shearer will be a great manager - look at Dalglish, Klinsmann etc etc"...they're completely different people!

I do not want to see someone who hasnt done any coaching and has been doing bad punditry on the BBC for the last few years as our manager.

When asked about player changes Bowen said 'things had been hectic and that they wouldn't rush into changes too quickly but would take their time to evaluate the current squad.'

No doubt they'd all concentrated more on the players in the chelsea squad during their portugese golfing holiday! <_<

An obvious comment to make imo so I wonder why radio interviewers are so slow on the uptake?

That is a very scary thought. I've got this picture of him in my head, circling Ewood like one of those big black birds of prey..............

Send the RAF up to intercept (The Rovers Air Force)

Cant be bothered digging up the thread, but clearly Hughes would have taken the Man City job last summer if offered......

C'mon John. Clear your head. It was I who said that City were in for him strong last summer.

Rem.....

1. Finacially Shiniwatra was a completely unknown package then. His arrival was on/off for a time too.

2. Hughes obviously expected the Chelsea job and having burned his bridges here was left with no option but City this time.

3. To a lesser extent we were in Europe and had just competed so well in the FA Cup.

4. We had a much stronger squad.

Rem also that Alcohol is a depressant! If it causes depression you'd better leave it alone or find something else.

Really not great to see the way Hughes and co have treated us.

I've been one of his biggest critics over the past season, but despite what I thought about his tactical sense I always thought he seemed like a proper guy (even if he did trot out the same old lines and was always boring to listen to), but in the face of recent events I can't even say that anymore. No one should be willing to work for Thaksin, the man is obviously guilty of fraud and human rights violations, anyone with decent morals should not want to touch his money. On top of that, to then make the move and follow it up with the comments that he has is simply insulting to a club that gave a manager a chance who may well never have got one in club football had we not come knocking.

I won't be giving him any applause when he returns to Ewood (most likely because I won't be there...but even if i I am he'll be met with silence).

Was at a dinner last night, speaking to someone who has had dealing with Thaskin. He is a very dodgy individual.

Also met Ryan Nelsen's cousin - told me Ryan is gutted but he really loves the club.

Wasn't sure which "future rovers manager" thread to put this on but it's depresing none-the-less so I put it on both...

Don Mckay backs Steve McClaren as next Rovers boss

McClaren took over a mediocre football club in Middlesbrough and deserves credit only for failing to get them relegated but they are still mediocre. Upon leaving he went to an international side who boasted EIGHT players in the Champion's League Final, a fact which proves England have the quality to compete for major honours, and failed to qualify them for the European Championships. My prediction of what will happen if he is Rovers new boss: for the next ten years we will finish 12-14th every season, miles behind European places and about 8 points ahead of relegation. His appointment in my eyes would show a total lack of ambition.

The Mirror is bigging up Ince's chances. I sen Henk Ten Cate has been linked somehow on the nicko thread. He'd probably be quite good, as he may know how to organise a decent youth team. That is very important, especially if people of the calibre of RSC and Benni start to turn Rovers down.

I'll lend you a map of England with Blackburn marked with a big X should you decide to come eddie. You'll be able to find Ewood Park by giving a cabbie about £3.00.

Don't agree. The Hughes business plan worked superbly. There is enough faltering talent around the globe (as the club have recently admitted) just waiting to be resurrected without bothering with that old sillyness of developing good young local talent. All we'd end up doing would be chucking money at developing players for the likes of Stanley and Blackpool.

I don't know Theno, if it is done right, we could make money out of findinf and making good local players. They may even be a bit more loyal to Rovers too. However, picking up the kind of players you describe is also an important part of the grand plan. The trick is to strike the right balance.

On a related note, how long does everyone think we have to appoint the new manager?

Personally I feel that he has to be selected by the end of next week, if not we'll be in chaos for too long with regards to keeping our current players and signing any new ones. It's unlikely that any new candidates will emerge, so we should be on the task and make our selection soon.
