roversmum Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I must say that as each day goes by I am coming round to the idea of BFS as manager. He will settle us, hopefully pursuade the likes of warnock and roque to stay and with some money he could make some shrewd signings...id more more comfortable with the money in sams hand rather than ince. take away the NEwcastle debacle...which wasnt exactly his fault and he has been a good manager, has a good record. I remember meeting him when he was manager at Blackpool (Where he took them to the playoffs at the first attempt) and i know for a fact the guy is 110% commited to his work, he is scouting most of his free time away and will have things very organised. Our football may suffer a little but i think we would be much harder to beat than the last season with Hughes in charge. In a brown envelope??????????????

thenodrog Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Isn't this the sad thing though. so many people are being sucked into accepting him because they can't see better. If you'd asked us 6 months ago "Would you like him as the next Rovers manager?" the answer from most people would have been a definite no. Now suddenly despite his failures at Newcastle he's being put forward as some kind of saviour. Well, I want no part of it or of him. You are seriously BORING now gumboots ............ have you no marking to do or ink pots to fill??
leftfooter Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 In a brown envelope?????????????? Thanks RM That's saved me another warning!
Exiled in Toronto Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 At the risk of ridicule, I'm coming round to the idea of Brollyman. I like the sound of a 5-year plan, which in my view absolutely must include a productive academy - something he has on his CV that BFS hasn't. He also has something to prove whereas BFS, in his own mind, hasn't as he didn't fail at Newcastle. And was his failure for England really worse than BFS at Newcastle? It was a lot more public and of course impacted us all, but I don't recall too many England teams being picked where everyone violently disagreed, apart from the unsquared ciorcle of Gerrad/Fat Frank. Plus he never lost the dressing room for England and if he's spent 3 years working with the prima donnas in there the cry baby Bentley shouldn't prove an insurmountable problem. This is of course assuming that no coaching disqualifies my original choice of Ince (not sure if it should or shouldn't) and that HTC is allowed to pass through Manchester airport unmolested by JW.
BRFC1995 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 McClown is a joke surely. i'm veremently opposed to allardyce whilst not even giving the ginger halfwit plonker the benefit of even considering him ahead of big ron or gazza! It sends out an awful message to even hear him out in an interview, should have been a very, very public thanks but not in a million years. People at work crying they find it that funny he could be our manager! Sick, really sick joke!
John Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 People at work crying they find it that funny he could be our manager! I am getting the same on a daily basis - people were doing high fives and giggling today reading our managerial short-list.
Roversider Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Okay, first and foremost, I've said it before and will say it again - whoever is chosen by John Williams and the board is the manager I want. Full stop, finito. Whether that is McClaren, Ince, Allardyce, Ten Cate, Berg or Noddy I expect them to have been through a detailed and thoughtful selection. I will give any of them my support.
sparky12 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 well this wil be my last season at rovers because im moving to australia next year and i would be gutted to end my last season with someone like the clown ( mcclaren) or big sam!!!! it would be a hard job for anyone to come in and fill hughes's boots but id rather hav ince than one of those two jokers micheal ladruup or someone foriegn .. its the only way we are going to have a succesful season.
Mc Love Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 As philip said over in the links thread, no news this morning, which could only be a good thing...........until Nicko surprises us all with this news he has been keeping from us
gbax Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 You are seriously BORING now gumboots ............ have you no marking to do or ink pots to fill?? I agree, how many different ways can you tell us the same thing!
andrew92 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 is JW is in europe, who else can he be meeting apart from bilic? if you think about it every other candidate that has been mentioned can get to england for an interview, but bilic cant so JW has to go and meet him!!
rebelmswar Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 is JW is in europe, who else can he be meeting apart from bilic? if you think about it every other candidate that has been mentioned can get to england for an interview, but bilic cant so JW has to go and meet him!! The French manager who is about to be out on his arse.
BRFC1995 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 JW saying the "board won't be swayed by public opinion", there is no reason for him to come out with that statement. Basically gives it away, most likely be the fat crook. what an absolutely miserable summer, fingers crossed ince gets it but i'll be majorly suprised now if fatman does'nt get it. Despite being about 95% certain the club have simply delayed the inevitable from the moment hughes went i can't bring myself to put big money on it as i really would'nt want to win. Can't even contemplate McClown, it'd be unworkable, there would be bouycotts and demonstrations to get him out even before he sat down for the press unveiling. It would mess my head up i would'nt be able to think rationally because of the resentment of the man, take one for the team mentality would kick in where i'm thinking at least if we lose our first 8 or 9 games he'll get sacked.
Hughesy Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I think JW was just pointing out that it is the board that make the decision not the fans, as they would get the stick no matter who they appointed if it went wrong.
John Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 JW comments sound like he expects the new manager to be a controversial choice........
1864roverite Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Shillitoe you should be shot just for even printing his name on this forum
S15 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Judging from Nixons' tone tonight I might just be spot on.
brfcshabba Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Judging from Nixons' tone tonight I might just be spot on. Not that bad
Gav Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Got to say I'm well and truly ###### off with the whole thing. The quality of candidates fills me with nothing but dread, and only goes to show just how a good of a team we've just let go. I think the only real candidate now that would get the juices going is Ten Cate and for the sake of Blackburn Rovers I hope JW makes a real statement of intent and appoints this guy...... Let’s face it, he must be better than the other three.........
1864roverite Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Gav the only really disappointing thing about Hughes and his staff leaving is the fact that they have gone to Man City. I really do not accept that he faces a challenge at that monstrosity of a club, a club that believes its massive outside of Manchester. Hughes is reported to have said the following - "City's crowd creates a fabulous atmosphere", well I disagree, its worse than a morgue on some games and far quiet than Ewood with the amount of consternation about Frankies running of the club. "It will be great to manage a club with financial resources", well Mark, if we are to accept the news reports coming out of Thailand, Frankie's hard earned dosh may be frozen for at least another 12 months leaving City with absolutely no assets to even mortgage against considering the financial mess they find themselves in. "Ronaldinho is a player that I would like to see at City", looks like you might need E'to and Deco as well to sign for your new club because looking on paper its a massive rebuilding programme. "I am looking forward to getting started at my new club", good on you mate, it looks like you will earn your wages the hard way as City cannot even stage their home leg of the UEFA preliminary round. How funny it would be to see you eliminated at barnsley of all places. My take is that I expected to lose Hughes and co at some point but to a bigger and better established club than City. I also reaffirm the view that hughes will be spending an enormous pot of cash (if available) on players that can just about challenge clubs already established in positions 10-5 in the Premiership. He will find it a much harder task than the future incoming manager of Blackburn Rovers will.
