gumboots Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I've just listened to the report again, "Talksport understand that Bentley will sign for spurs. He has bought a property in the south and as soon as Blackburn agree a fee with Spurs he will sign" That sounds like his agent talking. did you also hear the "would West Ham have Paul Ince back as Manager if he moved Blackburn up a level?" question on Talksport yesterday. Would West Ham have any chance because if Blackburn moved up a level they'd be above West Ham anyway? They were basically spouting rubbish based on press speculation

Also didn't someone say they thought Bentley wanted to stay up north rather than go back to London? Maybe his agent is panicking already.
deftangel Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 TalkSport might as well be the Spurs supporters forum, I wouldn't pay much credence to what they spout off on transfer wise on there.
AndyC Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Does anybody have a link to a stats site, that shows the number of points each team has amassed since the start of the premier league? Wonder where we would be in the table?
nicko Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 There are a couple of stories in the paper today - the Mirror surprisingly enough. Thanks to a top tipster, confirmed by a couple of people, that the files are 'open' on the American midfielder Bradley and the Turkish left winger Boral. Bradley had a shocked for the US against England last month and some clubs have looked elsewhere. However he has one season left on his contract, his price is dropping and I hear Rovers will watch him pre-season...must have a good video of him! Boral was on the wish list when he was watched in the Champions League. He is still on the radar although that one always depended on MGP moving. The interesting part of this is that Sparky may have a look at him for Man City - if Ronaldinho doesn't come. By the way, the Andy Cole £25,000-a-week at Forest stuff is garbage. I don't know who sent that to the papers. Cole could go there, but not for that dosh.
Exiledfan Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Is Boral the quick winger with the pony-tail? He looked half-decent. Wasn't that impressed with the American vs England, although it was just a friendly. What news for your mate Coyley this week Nicko? My bro is desperate to know if the remaining chasms in the squad will be filled.

My bro is desperate to know if the remaining chasms in the squad will be filled. Boral is the powerful left winger, who came in for the Germany game, caused a lot of havoc. An exciting player. Burnley very busy...thank you.
Wolverine Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Spurs will have to find the cash somehow then. Also didn't someone say they thought Bentley wanted to stay up north rather than go back to London? Maybe his agent is panicking already. He would much rather stay up here, but his link to Spurs is through his agent, who represents a couple down there. I understand his agent is keen for him to move darn sarf but he is holding out for Man U/Liverpool, or he will stay. The good thing if he does go to spurs is that a fool and his money are soon parted - which I believe is their ethos.
novella Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Boral is also a decent left back. maybe it is time to cash in on pedersen.
socngill Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 The pesky LET is stealing all Nicko's stories again ... Did you read the bit at the bottom about Cruz? Arsenal are ready to table a bid for the striker. With the sale of Adebayor they could table a bid of £10m. hahaha! £10m? on your bike Arsene. Aren't they supposed to be selling Adebayor for quite a large sum of money?
thenodrog Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 The pesky LET is stealing all Nicko's stories again ... From that article..... "Meanwhile, it has been reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will test Blackburn’s resolve with a bid for striker Roque Santa Cruz this week. Manager Paul Ince has already said he wants the Paraguayan to stay at Ewood Park. But the Gunners could table up to £10m if Emmanuel Adebayor is sold to Barcelona." Even the bloody LT is working against us now by talking RSC's value down! 10m! Are they trying to turn us into the footballing equivalent of Uriah Heep or what? 19 Prem goals in his first season .... 4 more than Berbatov, Keane and Yakubu!
BRFCGrez Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Don't think your brother is in luck exiledfan! The gap just refuses to close!
Exiledfan Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 He'll be gutted. He enjoys the bits I feed him from here. Keep telling him that the Dingles have spent up and the rest of the Lafferty money is paying off their debts.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Its a laugh a minute at the moment Theno,I refuse to believe owt even the local rag now prints. Sick and tired of hearing about our players leaving(on the cheap)...how about some f'kin players coming into Ewood!
nicko Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 The pesky LET is stealing all Nicko's stories again ... I thought you might have mentioned the Archie Knox follow-up as well.
thenodrog Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Funny you should say that Theno, because for 4 consecutive seasons from 1999 to 2002 I spent well over £1000 per season in travel and accomodation alone coming down to watch Rovers, and then on top of that I had my admission for each match as well. I even brought my grandsons down to see them on a number of occasions, and of course had their costs as well. Very good Fife. I'm sure that JW and Ince will be very impressed by your contribution to their cause.
thenodrog Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Don't sweat on it Fife. If anyone has ever taken him seriously, they certainly won't after his recent fit of pique. Which one's that?

That's big of them isn't it! How about "up to 20m". Agree with you completely the LT don't appear to be doing us any favours.
modes98 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Boral is also a decent left back. maybe it is time to cash in on pedersen. I don't like the look of his goal record mind you. MGP scores alot more.
broadsword Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Think you need to use the past tense there, Modes.
b12_simon Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Think you need to use the past tense there, Modes. There's cause for optimism about MGP IMO. Last season I often said, quite sadly, that he'd be a great player again at his next club. With a new manager on board I think he's a chance of rehabilitation (and once again become the player the papers "sell" to London clubs in January ).
modes98 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Think you need to use the past tense there, Modes. He did ok in the run in 4 in 12 games. Whereas Uğur Boral has 2 goals in 54 games for Fenerbahçe. I guess he has more to offer than just his goals but that's a poor return for the left midfielder.
novella Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 when i saw him for turkey he looked good though. he looked strong and looked like he unsettled defenders. we dont really need our wingers scoring too many goals as long as we keep hold of santa cruz and swing decent balls in from either side. he's also got some decent experience behind him.
den Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Ped will score goals again, if Ince allows him to throw off Hughes shackles of staying out very wide. The seasons he scored goals for us, he was getting much further forward and also coming more central. He can't score goals from wide on the wing.
