when the manager come to your office and say "i want off. i want to talk to man city", you dont take him back! you no longer want that manger because he lacks enthusiasm. he no longer concentrate 100% on taking rovers forward. if his mind is elsewhere, his body should also.

the same applies to bentley. if he is not hungry, he will not be as good. the england factor wont help much because he is going to be ###### at everything for not being "big" enough. he will walk around all day thinking about how they do it at the other top clubs and what he is missing. get rid of them. everyone need to be motivated!!!

Morning all!

Interesting day today as players are due back for preseason training. Will you watch training today NICKO when Ince meet his players for the first time?

Maybe there will be some wealings and dealings this week!! Let the season roll!

It could be the start of a few interesting days, how will the players react to ince and his training methods?

How will ince get along with people like Bentley?

Let the roller coaster begin!!

BRAD FRIEDEL - I know for a fact that Brad does not want to leave. The Man City interest is - as far as I know - a leak at their end to put pressure on Hart. Not a 'Sparky tactic' as someone pointed out, but there are other very 'smart' people at the club who use that kind of tactic.

CHRIS RONNIE'S BACKERS - I would not assume that they were 'minted.' The problem there - in my view - was that no-one was sure where the money was coming from.

TARGETS - There are quite a few under discussion. I know they are taking their time on them, which is fair enough. I think it will get very busy when the pre-season games start. I would expect a right back and an attacking midfielder to be here for the first game. So relax a while.

Do you know whether Kaka will come to the Premier League Nicko?

He'd be an incredible signing for anyone!

I'd put him into the "i'd pay just to watch him play" category of world class players.

If he's so good why do you want him to play for our opponents?

relax ??

you must be joking!!

stress levels are through the roof and we haven't even signed a player or kicked a ball yet, wait till that starts.

Congrats on the win on Saturday Nicko, I would like to describe what happened but I had to wait in for a ****ing Sky Engineer to turn up, that never actually ****ing turned up

The Jags brought a very good following for a pre-season match, not very often away teams take our clubhouse over.

Well the first pre-season game is next Monday - so two signings this week then? Yippee!!!

Probably meant first league game.

well not all came back to training today

from rovers.co.uk

Not all the players return straight away, the likes of Andre Ooijer, Roque Santa Cruz, Brett Emerton, Jason Roberts and Aaron Mokoena, who were all involved in international matches well into June, won't return for a couple more weeks.

Hmmmm..... That is NOT my understanding of the situation. Last night I was lead to believe that Freidal would like to follow Hitchcock to City.

Maybe time will tell.

You were led to believe. Nicko says he knows for a fact. I'd like to believe Nicko until I hear otherwise.

Why would a 37 year old keeper change clubs in order to follow a goalkeeping coach? I can understand him wanting to move for money or the chance to win something, but for a coach? Can't see it.

I don't think selling Friedel would be the worst thing ever. Really like the guy and I am sure that he has a positive influence on the squad, so I hope that he stays, but he's not got that long left anyway.

Now we ARE talking!

They will be invited back next season, as the bar takings will buy us a couple of new players ;)

Ged Dalton, who I think was on trial with Rovers last year got the goal for Spartans.

If anyone spots a trialist at training today feel free to let me know.

I think there is an interesting 'face' coming in - not a name but a good pedigree - so if anyone sees him or bumps into them at the local hotel...

Thats OK by me gumboots. But beware I was informed by the same 'connected' source that told me Ince was defo signing exactly 7 days before it was announced.

BUT He may have to stay though even though he wants out in which case we'll never know will we.

That's probably the most "even if I'm wrong, I'm still right"-esque answer I've seen for a long time...

Maybe we should move the club to Belgium and not tell The Axe....

I was thinking the exact same. Standout work, even for Drog.

Thanks for clearing that up. You can't really be wrong now can you...

I'd quoted gumboots but it was YOU eddie that had asked a question and requested a reply from me so don't you (and the rest) blame me for answering and adding to my earlier statement. <_<

When alan nixon reveals his sources then just maybe I will reveal mine!..... not.

But speculating further though never mind Hitchcock it's well known that Brad knows well both Ince and Hughes so maybe there is more to it than just the Hitchcock connection. Tell me eddie do you think the mature, intelligent and supreme professional Brad Freidal is more a Hughes or an Incey type person?

I think it's quite good that a few players will be late back. it will force Ince to look more closely at the whole squad and give game time in the early friendlies to people that he may not have done had all the players been available. No Cruz or Roberts will mean that game time will be given to both Rigters and Derbyshire for example. If Roberts and Cruz were available from the start I think both those (especially Rigters) would probably end up with bit part sub roles.

Bring on pre-season!!

I think that at this stage of his career he'd be more of a club than manager and staff man. He's worked under enough managers and been at enough clubs to know how bad and good life can be and also to appreciate being in a pretty decent place.

I actually asked you why a 37 year old keeper would move because of a goalkeeping coach, you didn't really answer that. Maybe they are best friends or something, I don't know, so it would really need for you to come up with a good reason why Friedel would have to follow a coach he has known for a relatively short period of his career.

Did JW even know for sure then?

The whole badges thing caused issues and they were still interviewing. But with rovers always going British it was hardly a shock, Ince or Fat Sam....
