gumboots Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 City just signed him last week and have to let him go to the Olympics
socngill Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Emerton quickly demonstrated the skills that persuaded Souness to pay Feyenoord £2.2m for his services over the summer. The Australian made a number of telling crosses and demonstrated his tricky footwork :!:
Blue n White Rover Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Williams Confirms Trustees Funding Also he confirms that there is new interest from the States. Any news on that Nicko?
T4E Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Arteta has been angling for a move to Spain for some time. However he might not get his way as Everton want a lot for him. Great player, total mummy's boy. I was amazed when he signed for Everton after moaning from Glasgow all the way back to Sociedad.
b12_simon Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Ince has seen Emerton play on the right wing - Blackburn thrash sorry Wolves Pity he didn't play like that again on the right wing. I was in the Riverside that afternoon. Happy days when you've a Wolves season ticket holder at the next desk (still do). Despite letting 5 in their keeper made 6 or so brilliant saves. Back to Emo: I think he's a decent right-sided midfielder - not a classic winger, nor is he a patch on Bentley but few players are.
Bobby G Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Emerton was a poor right winger and I recall almost everyone was unhappy and frustrated with him there, where he didnt take his man on, gave the ball away alot and was way out of confidence. It wasnt until he moved to right back that he became considered a GOOD signing for us. Im depressed that Arsenal will get such a fee. I would realistically accept up to 25% but 50%
BRFC95 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Back to Emo: I think he's a decent right-sided midfielder - not a classic winger, nor is he a patch on Bentley but few players are. The only way we'll get decent balls into the box with Emo playing wide right is to employ a fullback who's prepared to run passed him and put the crosses in.
Hughesy Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Until the club come out and say it, then i dont believe there is a 50% sell on clause attached. Infact im 99% sure there isnt a clause anywhere near that high. Cant tell you why, but we shall see
nicko Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Williams Confirms Trustees Funding Also he confirms that there is new interest from the States. Any news on that Nicko? I'm surprised the article didn't have ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE across the top of it. Mystery American interest at a time when TWO definite bidders think the price is too high? And a quote that it is reasonable to ask for £50 million!!!! Deary me. Talk about a mouthpiece.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Also he confirms that there is new interest from the States. Any news on that Nicko? Interesting.. Though there is the credit crunch in the US...
Wild Irish Rover Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I don't suppose we could get Arsenal interested in buying the blue eyed wonderkid? I wonder how that would work??

You're not wrong. However, when you consider the club owns 50 acres of freehold land, and intangible assets estimated at £65 million, a valuation of £50m-plus for the trustees’ controlling stake would appear to be entirely appropriate. It's almost embarassing.

Exiledfan Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I see the Dingles flew off to America today. That should please a few posters on here, as there will be no dingle related transfer activity for Nicko to comment on for over a week.

I'm surprised by that reply Nicko. After all, these things are debated on here day, after day, after day. They have put two answers out to questions often asked on here. Surely you would applaud the club for that? - Apart from that, I thought you would actually comment on the points made in the LT, by John Williams?
hawkiiz Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Does he? Oh well it was just a thought. i think we should bring some young Brazilian superstar in alanzinho
gumboots Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 When Bentley does go, we need to replace him. Emo is definately not the answer. You know that. I and loads of other fans know that. Unfortunately, according to Nicko, Ince doesn't seem to.
BRFC95 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 You know that. I and loads of other fans know that. Unfortunately, according to Nicko, Ince doesn't seem to. He will, after a couple of friendlies.

Exiledfan Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Presumably the whole board or whoever do their deals haven't gone. I'd imagine few clubs manage any transfer activity whilst their manager is thousands of miles away from the base.

I am delighted that there is more money in - I said that earlier. That is great, it's a response to public concern. Cue applause. But this seems to have been a sweetener for an article that basically says: 1 - the other bidders didn't offer enough, we don't like them, they talked to the nasty tabloids. 2 - the club is worth £50 million at least [bEFORE picking up the debts presumably]. IF there is an American bidder WHY mention him/them now? Could it just be to bump up the price? I wonder. IF there is an American bidder, name him/them. I tracked down three bidders and laid them open to public scrutiny... Now we have a 'myserty American bidder' - well, tell us who it is.
