broadsword Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Bloody hell, that was plucked from the memory banks! He didn't manage many games for us, did he? duncan Shearer made a few appearances for us as well.

nicko Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 Plus I cant remember a ginner at the club since Bernie Gallagher (the full back, not the golfer) came on loan from Villa in the late 80's. Or maybe even Graeme Le Saux...
SAS Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Plus I cant remember a ginner at the club since Bernie Gallagher (the full back, not the golfer) came on loan from Villa in the late 80's. pfft Robbie Slater my great namesake
broadsword Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Tony Dobson and Graeme le Saux had ginger hair? :S
T4E Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Eh? WTF......Last time I looked this was a rovers board.... Where will it stop? I don't think the presence of fans from another team on our board is a bad thing per se, but there is certainly an ettiquette. Ffan has got it right - he/she takes an interest in Rovers, asks bits and pieces about Fulham but makes it relevant to the current flow of conversation. For the most part Tom and Baggio have managed to do the same. Its quite interesting to hear bits and pieces about other clubs, particularly when it relates to things Rovers are trying to do. A fan of another team coming on and asking about their lot with their very first post is a poor do imo. At least do us the courtesy of pretending.
thenodrog Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Anybody can cross a ball.look up,find a player, head down,if u a left footed player, right foot beside the ball, and then wrap your left foot around the ball.kids get taught these things at a young age,its a lame excuse to say that players cant cross a ball.even at bert's age, with the right coach he can stil learn to cross. Rubbish. Don't tell me in all his career at BRFC and Feyenoord etc that Bert's weakness at crossing a ball has not been recognised and worked on? Emerton has every physical and skill necessary in his locker ...... except speed of thought.
OJRovers Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Plus I cant remember a ginner at the club since Bernie Gallagher (the full back, not the golfer) came on loan from Villa in the late 80's. Did Nicky Marker have dark ginger hair?
Mr Creosote Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 pfft Robbie Slater my great namesake Oh aye. Yes, of course Duncan Shearer. Had the look of an angry Highland crofter.
thenodrog Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Eh? WTF......Last time I looked this was a rovers board.... Where will it stop? No doubt when 'overkill' kicks in and Nicko gets stalled with it all. And the more visitors this thread gets the sooner it will happen..... unless Mr Nixon can somehow make it pay.
modes98 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Nicko's input is attracting visitors. Not necessarily a bad thing. Being a Rovers board it is obviously desireable that these new members are Rovers fans. It can be frustrating when your trying to get answers relating to rovers and then you have pages of information relating to the Dingles, Villa or other clubs.
thenodrog Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 He's been available long enough and Rovers have not gone near. I don't doubt your opinion and imo Sidwell will be too expensive but rem BRFC have not had a manager for a large part of the close season.

Correct modes..... so it's down to you lot then to keep the nuisance value and numpty count down. Good contributers like Tom, FFan and even Zulu embellish the site and I'd quite happily swap em for some of our more intellectually challenged members. Unfortunately I can't zap anybody from my keyboard............ ............. yet.

den Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 To be fair, if there was a zap facility on keyboards you would have been a smouldering heap of dust some time ago. Sorry Gord, I just thought that was funny.
thenodrog Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 You'll have to explain the joke Den...... I don't get it.
nicko Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 I don't doubt your opinion and imo Sidwell will be too expensive but rem BRFC have not had a manager for a large part of the close season. Right now Villa are trying to buy him - and Newcastle are trying to buy him. It's imminent. And no sign of a move from Rovers. You could do better...

It can be frustrating when your trying to get answers relating to rovers and then you have pages of information relating to the Dingles, Villa or other clubs. well its not exactly flooded by burnley, everton or villa posters. even combined it is not a lot of posts. i think the "are other teams fans allowed to post here"-debate have taken up way more space. funny. its not a whole lot of news considering rovers at the moment. mostly a new coach coming in every other day, but not much concrete. i dont see the problem of getting a little news from our rivals. it does concern rovers aswell, remember.
Mr Creosote Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Nicko, any truth in Keane to Liverpool? I know it's not Rovers related but it could start a chain of events (Bentley). I would find it quite amusing if true. Almost as amusing as Rapheal Van Der Vaart's reaction to being linked to Tottingham.
hawkiiz Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...89520-20637151/ rovers and villa after Robert Green. his contract talks stalled because of his wage demands... nicko. any truth?? what about brad?

Liverpool don't have that much to spend. Spurs desperately trying to sell players to raise the money for Bentley. They know thet are favourites, but have to shift four or five. As usual, they are asking stupid fees.

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. But it is a bit worrying to see so many agents and the like assuming that Rovers want a keeper... I know Brad is keen to stay, but that one won't go away. Puzzling.

RibbleValleyRover Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I'm surprised that that more fans aren't kicking up a fuss about potentially selling our most creative player and main assist provider to sides which are considered our rivals for the Uefa Cup Spots. Its all well and good if we can replace Bentley with someone who is as good, but if we don't we will be just weakening ourselves whilst our rivals get stronger. I'm not sure there is anyone out there who fits the bill as a replacement, certainly not someone well known. Getting back on topic after my rant: Nicko, i know you probably can't say yet who we might be looking at for the attacking mid position, but i just wanted a yes or no answer really. Are we looking at some big, top quality names for the position?
nicko Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 why not? too expensieve? as a successor to brad i think green could be great, but i assume he is a tad pricey? Can't stop shots or catch a ball.
