Martin Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Had a quick scout around and I can find very little. Never heard of him. He scored one of Ecuador's goals in a victory over Haiti. See below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D64wF2cEd2A...feature=related I'd like to think it's the second goal he scored but it's proabbly the header given the order that the scorers are listed..... ...hang on, we might score from a corner now!!!
Heinz Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 PSV ready to make a move for Andre Ooijer, Dutch media reports.
modes98 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 PSV ready to make a move for Andre Ooijer, Dutch media reports. IMO we should not sell him as he is our most competent centre back. However he is now in the last year of his contract. Don't know anything about this Castillo and £6m sounds like a lot. For those slagging Larsson off a few pages back for having no pace, neither does Bentley! The man has an ability to cross the ball and take very good free kicks.
Bazrakats Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 i really think Wiki is jumping the gun here Senior clubs1 Years Club App (Gls)* 2000–2003 Club Deportivo ESPOLI 2003–2006 El Nacional 2006–2008 Red Star Belgrade 2008 Blackburn Rovers F.C. 66
alexanders Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 From Wiki: Club Career On August 31, 2006 he signed a two year deal with Serbian side Red Star Belgrade, former European Cup champions, from El Nacional in Quito.[2] Correct me if im wrong, but this will mean that he is out of contract on August 31st ?
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/200...89520-20638168/ rovers after castillo... havent we been linked with him before? It's a new one and a bit of a shock, but it is pretty 'live.' As the story was shrunk because of other tales in the column here is the whole thing. You will notice there is quite a bit of intrigue involved here. Like I said before, complicated. Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince is chasing £6 million-rated Ecuadorian midfield ace Segundo Castillo in his first big transfer swoop. The powerful South American plays for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia but is available - and agents dealing with the move have been in talks with Rovers for the past couple of days. Castillo, an international team-mate of Wigan star Luis Antonio Valencia, is keen to come to England and Ince sees him as an ideal answer to his push for more attacking thrust from midfield. The Ecuadorian ace has been a stand-out for his country in their World Cup campaigns but is now ready to leave the obscurity of Serbian football to make a fortune in England. Rovers are looking to spend in midfield and at right back - with Castillo emerging as one of the first players they will actually bid for from a long lists of potential arrivals. The Lancashire outfit are hurriedly looking into Castillo's background. He is officially listed as being out of contract at Red Star, but his handlers claim there is a fee on his head. There could be a question of third-party ownership to iron out, but Ince seems keen to progress the move and bring Castillo in for talks on terms and a medical. Castillo, 26, should qualify for a work permit as he has won enough caps, earning 30 in total since making his debut five years ago. Ecuador are also rated in the top 75 of the FIFA rankings. Ince has money to buy a midfield player and a right back, his two priority positions whether David Bentley is sold or not. He would move Brett Emerton back to the right wing if the England star leaves. Rovers are also watching DVDs of several players as Ince and his new staff get a crash course in potential buys. They will look at some in pre-season games too, but Castillo has emerged as the favourite to be the first arrival.

hawkiiz Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 huh... i read he is a defensieve central mid, but is popular for his eager to go forward despite his defensive position. so he is a replacement for moko?
Mr Creosote Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 A bit dissappointing. I was hoping that there might be something in the Leon Osman rumour. £6m is a hell of a gamble on a player who has only played in Equador and Serbia.
socngill Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 For anyone who thought the Bentley saga couldnt get any sillier: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...es-resolve.html Deary lord - couldn't they get a more up to date picture. isn't that the shirt from 3 seasons ago!?!? £10m - do one O'Neill you numpty.

nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 The Daily Mail story about the Villa low bid for Bentley is about as stupid as it gets. Disregard it completely.
gumboots Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 The Daily Mail story about the Villa low bid for Bentley is about as stupid as it gets. Disregard it completely. In what sense. they haven't made a bid or they have but it isn't as daft as that? Or both?
b12_simon Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 The Daily Mail story about the Villa low bid for Bentley is about as stupid as it gets. Disregard it completely. A bit verbose there Nicko. How about: The Daily Mail. Disregard it completely.
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 In what sense. they haven't made a bid or they have but it isn't as daft as that? Or both? Villa know the price and would not bid such a low figure. The Daily Mail know the price and yet still run the story. Plain daft.
Eddie Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Eddie, what's this guy Castillo like? I'm sure you're taking the p*ss. Have a friend from Serbia who follows football there and asked about him, he said that he's good, but doesn't think 6 million good.
roverfanuk Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 How many players are we going to sign this summer, i'd be very dissappointed if we only brought in 2, a RB and a CM... We need a RM if Bentley leaves, thats for certain... I thought Ince was going to have around 15 million to spend? That doesnt include the sale of Bentley...? If we go for this Castillo chap, Nicko, how much do you think he will cost? If his contract is up, surely he wont cost anywhere near the 6 million? Even with third party ownership, id be suprised if we had to pay anymore then 3 million? Finally, what players can we see leaving? Surely if Castillo comes in, someone is going in central midfield...? Mokoena?
Eddie Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Why would someone leave? Tugay will not play much. That would leave new midfielder, Reid, Vogel, Dunn and Mokoena as out-and-out central midfielders, with the option of playing Emerton, Bentley or even Zurab there if we were really pushed. No need to get rid of anyone unless we bring in another on top of that.
Torgeir Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 To be honest I wouldn't want Brad as a coach You don't have to be a good goalkeeper to make a good goalkeeping coach...
RevidgeBlue Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 No need to get rid of anyone Apart from the fact Mokoena is crap.
Mc Love Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Six million, is that not a tad too much?? And O'Neill is some munter if he thinks he can have Bents for 10 million!
Eddie Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Apart from the fact Mokoena is crap. I think Dunn, Tugay, Mokoena and Reid could all be done away with, but realistically we won't do that.
unleaded Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Like Nicko said Castillo is set to fly over to England to have a medical.................it is also being reported that he was very close to joining Juventus last year but that deal fell through.............Hes a big strong holding midfielder and whos very good with his head............has a good scoring record for a midfielder...........I remember the last time Rovers were in for a Ecudurian(Valencia) but backed out at the last moment and look what we missed out on............He led Red Star to a double this year and was voted "the Best foreign player".............This guy looks mean and plays mean..........Hope hes Inces 1st signing..........
T4E Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I'm sure you're taking the p*ss. I think you may be right. Be careful bypassing the swear filter, Den Jong Il will have you........
