Dave S Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I don't think we will ever pay £6m for this Castillo lad, so please stop asking if it is too much. We all know that he will join us if we can get him for free -> £3m? Nickos article states £6m "rated". So I think you are right the fee will be a lot lower, especially if his contract is over.

Mr Creosote Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Martin Lipton was on Talksport the other day banging on like he is the font of all knowledge. Spoke about RSC as though he was already at Arsenal. This is the same dobber who reckoned Souness was stitched on for the Spuds job a few years back. Appologies if he's a pal of yours but Lipton is a t0sser (and a p1ss poor journo imo) Or was there something in it?
Majiball Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Here's the new goalkeeping coach: http://www.blackburncitizen.co.uk/sport/32..._coaching_team/
philipl Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 In what sense. they haven't made a bid or they have but it isn't as daft as that? Or both? Being in the Mail makes it daft for starters. The content is rubbish too.
Scotty Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I should probably start a new thread for this, but as I'm asking for Nicko's opinion I guess it should go in here. Yesterday agent Paul Stretford of the Proactive Sports Management agency was found guilty of 7 different offences and bannedfrom the game for 18 months. Link here: Paul Stretford banned Have you been following the case Nicko? I don't know if you know Mr Stretford personally but I'm aware you have links to the agency in question and have won damages against a paper that accused you of writing pro-Proactive stories. Does this court ruling (subject to an appeal) have any wider implications for the way football agents conduct themselves? This particular agency does seem to have been linked with murky dealings a number of times in the past (I'm thinking specifically of some Newcastle links that came up a couple of years ago).
bringdunnback Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Is Castillo a right back or a midfielder, i'm geting mixed signals.
Majiball Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Is Castillo a right back or a midfielder, i'm geting mixed signals. He's a holding midfielder who likes to get forward.
spencey7 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 He's a holding midfielder who likes to get forward. I really hope not, as that is NOT what we need - We need an ATTACKING MIDFIELDER, someone who is in the team to add goals from midfield, and be able to provide defence-splitting passes. Guile and creativity are 50 times more important than "big thighs". I'm not against adding Castillo to the ranks, but would be disappointed if our main attacking purchase was - in fact - defensive.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I was kind of hoping for a bigger name £6m sounds pretty steep based on what i've read of his CV Might be worthwhile sending in a text or making a call to the world football phone in on friday night/ saturday morning on five live to ask what Tim Vickery may know about him.
b12_simon Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I was kind of hoping for a bigger name I doubt Venegoor of Hesselink's for sale

He does score goals though, I do think this is an area we need to improve on so Vogel can play further forward, I have been wondering if perhaps Ince is thinking about trying something like this: -----------Castillo---------- -----Emo-----------Vogel-- Emo drives forward when he gets the ball, ok he can't cross but he can pass, but perhaps he may be a bit like Dunn in that he would charge forward with no end product. Castillo is out of contract at belgrade, 3rd party invovled so no fee to the club just some agent, perhaps 6M is a little over the top? I was kind of hoping for a bigger name £6m sounds pretty steep based on what i've read of his CV Might be worthwhile sending in a text or making a call to the world football phone in on friday night/ saturday morning on five live to ask what Tim Vickery may know about him. What sort of bigger name though, 6M does seem steep I doubt its that high given what I wrote above 3M should be fair. He is completly untested in any of the decent leagues in Europe. I don't see him being the only midfield edition, there will still be an attacking player on top!
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 I should probably start a new thread for this, but as I'm asking for Nicko's opinion I guess it should go in here. Yesterday agent Paul Stretford of the Proactive Sports Management agency was found guilty of 7 different offences and bannedfrom the game for 18 months. Link here: Paul Stretford banned Have you been following the case Nicko? YES, VERY INTERESTING. I don't know if you know Mr Stretford personally but I'm aware you have links to the agency in question and have won damages against a paper that accused you of writing pro-Proactive stories. YES, I DO. SINCE HE HAD HALF OF THE BLACKBURN TEAM SEVERAL YEARS AGO. AND YES I WON £18,500 FROM THE SUNDAY EXPRESS FOR A LIBEL AGAINST ME. THANKS FOR ASKING. THE EXTENSION IS LOVELY, BY THE WAY. Does this court ruling (subject to an appeal) have any wider implications for the way football agents conduct themselves? NO. This particular agency does seem to have been linked with murky dealings a number of times in the past (I'm thinking specifically of some Newcastle links that came up a couple of years ago). DOES IT?
thenodrog Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 That should mess with his mind a bit. Either that article is written by a numpty or the irishmans even more deranged now than normal! He'll end up in a padded cell imo. BUT how the hell he thinks Barry is worth more than Bentley is ridiculous. He wants to play hardball with Lpool and for us to bend over whilst he shafts us.
bennyboyt11 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 wish people would stop saying 6M is steep... theres nothing saying were paying 6M for a out-of-contract midfielder from a minor league :|
Moorey Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Nicko, Ince got any keepers lined up if Brad did go to City? What's going on down with the Eagles transfer to Burnley? The Lancashire Telegraph said he'd had a medical.
Bobby G Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Whats this sudden Brad to City talk? I thought it was quashed as simply City putting it out to put pressure on Hart!?!?
Moorey Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Whats this sudden Brad to City talk? I thought it was quashed as simply City putting it out to put pressure on Hart!?!? Probably old news. Someone mentioned it at work yesterday.
thenodrog Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Whats this sudden Brad to City talk? I thought it was quashed as simply City putting it out to put pressure on Hart!?!? Read the thread since you last came on bobby.
spencey7 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 He does score goals though, I do think this is an area we need to improve on so Vogel can play further forward Vogel has "DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER" stamped on his forehead! Emo drives forward when he gets the ball, ok he can't cross but he can pass, but perhaps he may be a bit like Dunn in that he would charge forward with no end product. Well when you put it like that.... Our main signing (with ALL of our available cash if necessary) has to be a proven, creative, attacking midfielder whose main remit will be to get beyond the strikers. Of course I appreciate that these are hard to find, but it's still got to be Priority A-1.
AJW Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 DEF midfield casillas ATT midlfield vucevik Is this our new midfleid for next year?
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 Whats this sudden Brad to City talk? I thought it was quashed as simply City putting it out to put pressure on Hart!?!? I don't think Man City are the main interest...
Moorey Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I don't think Man City are the main interest... So is Ince looking at replacements just in case? ..and what of Eagles?
nicko Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 So is Ince looking at replacements just in case? ..and what of Eagles? Rovers have been looking at keepers for the past few days - it puzzled me when the rumours started but it IS the case. There is one club in particular who are willing to pay for Brad...and I suspect there will be another if a price is agreed. It is all very unexpected. I can't get my head round it.
Mr Creosote Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 There isn't a better keeper around. Would be complete madness.
